I just bought Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions today, it is SO AWESOME!! ONE OF THE BEST REMAKES FOR SURE! Im finally good at timing the Bros. Attacks! :D
As someone who played the original & watched a walkthrough of the remastered version, I have to say I like the original better. The HD graphics are nice but they almost become too much when compared to the original. Part of the charm was the simplicity. It had a certain vibe to it. When boss fights commenced, you would get a sinking feeling in your gut. When bosses exploded, you would feel satisfied. Not to mention that the remastering added graphic details that were never a part of the orig nor were necessary. I don’t 100% dislike it but I don’t love it. Call me biased but that’s my take
And personally, I think the 3D version of Cackletta’s soul looks cheesy af. Like a bad render or some shit. And as for the people who say an easier game isn’t a bad thing? It was meant to be hard on purpose. That was the point. That was the gimmick. There wasn’t 11 million video games on the market back then so you would want a game difficult but yet fun enough to last you months if not years. That’s the problem now. It used to be quality over quantity- now it’s reversed. (I know I sound like an old man but I’m only in my twenties💀)
@@calico9046 wtf are you on, Cackeletta looks SO MUCH BETTER in the 3D version, I'm really glad the really put effort for a "new design" bc that 3D shit was never what I expected to look like. And also every boss battles' background looks beyond beautiful.
I am currently playing through the original and am about halfway through it, and I must say this game is mad fun! At first I honestly had a hard time pulling off the bro moves, but now pulling them off feels so satisfying. I’m planning on getting dream team and bowsers inside story after finishing superstar saga.
What's killing me is that, despite being in a more fluid medium, seem to move a lot less outside of their idle animation, like Rookie go goes from energic dance moves to awkwardly lifting his arms like he is obese and not the king of the koopas.
I have 2 problems with the remake. 1: You can double jump in battle, it's no longer just one hit. 2: Advance moves are less complicated and are their own attacks now. other than that, the game looks pretty solid!
The moves action commands didnt really change except fire bros super thunder bros and super bounce bros. Plus the animations were changed so the timings were different. But yeah I dont like some things like the double jump at least they increased enemies health
I loved both versions of the game! I grew up with the original when it was first released and adored the old art style, gags, and mechanics. The remastered version's graphics are breathtaking and Cackletta's soul in the final battle has so much emotion to it!
I hate critics nowadays. they just find things to rant about “I hate this version because everything looks & sounds kiddy” I dont care if people dont like this version but saying it looks kiddy is honestly embarrassing. Yes Superstar saga was meant to be a kids game & this is the same thing but in better quality.
I dont like seeing long usernames on youtube The only complaints about the remake is that it's easier, the bros attacks are slower thus making it easier to time it right, and the bosses have more health than the original.
Differences in both games: 1. 3DS looks more awesome. 2. If enemies have 50% HP, they turn triggered and mad. Not only that, their abilities and attacks are enhanced. 3. Now bosses have slightly more attacks and abilities.
The 50% Boost was loosely based on Paper Jam's gimmick, it was only carried out in the remake to make it more of a challenge, and the double jump attack feature was also carried out of the OG BiS and above.
@@cris3760to an extent, yes but it required the babies whereas these games didn’t, because the babies didn’t come back. What I’m trying to say here is that Mario and Luigi couldn’t perform a double jump by themselves in PiT
It's depressing knowing Charles Martinet is getting old and tired. Mario old voice sounds like an actual person while his new voice sounds like a man forcing his voice to sound different.
All of the people saying the original is better and/or the remake sucks... Think of it this way.. If the original had never existed, and the remake wad a completely new game.. Would it still suck? I would hope not. Not to mention that they are the same game, but the new one has better aesthetics and a second story mode. Most of people's opinions are dictated by nostalgia and I'm sick of it. I think this remake is amazing! The only complaint I have is that it's really easy.. But that's it. The sprites are great, the music is awesome, and the addition of the Bowser's minions storyline is nice. Too bad this game has such a bad rep because of nostalgia freaks.
Infinite64 Being someone that hasn’t played the original, I can’t speak for the ones who have, but I did say that people’s opinions are swayed by nostalgia. In my eyes, the remake is obviously better, but I am not one to change people’s personal opinions
But if you haven't played the original yet claim it's only nostalgia you're also missing the point. Sure some of it could be just nostalgia though I have played the original and feel like it's better by not having help guides added a lot, contrary to what people think the old version also had a story line telling what happened as you selected your file (you scroll it with L and R to go faster), and in the video it seems easy because they using mushroom badges and clothing which was broken in the original since you could buy/stockpile 99 of tons of mushrooms and do loads of damage. Also while the visuals are improved that doesn't necessarily make it better considering I actually liked the older version's graphics better. It's been a classic debate that better graphics= a better game though games like Minecraft throw that argument out the window considering that's a very fun game. I will admit that there were some good changes though like having x be able to jump, the minion mode looked somewhat interesting, and the cutscene fast forwarding would be good if you kept dying to a boss. However I don't think it's worth getting the game solely for playing minion mode when I've played all of the original and think for the majority that it's better. Also regarding your first comment if the original didn't exist then yeah it would be regarded as a really good game, it's because the original does exist that people think the original is better in terms of the graphics not being as 3D and the other changes it's made that can make people appreciate the original. Long story short though don't use nostalgia to silence others in case they happen to actually have good points on why the older version is better.

I played the GBA and the 3DS and both games are good in their own right. My only complaint about the remake is that it feels too easy. I love the additional minions story that fills in a lot of blanks.
I'm pretty sure it's the nostalgia talking, and my preference of sprites over 3D models, but I'm always gonna prefer the GBA version. _Especially_ the soundtrack. Only thing I think the 3DS did better was the lighting and lack of crashing. Not saying this is bad, though.
Sylvester Stogether and 60 fps, and the lack of tutorials made it better, and the friccin gorgeous art style like man it’s so shaded, i agree that the original looks more classic but i just cant get used to the original anymore, also x button makes both bros jump, and the minimap is so good like woah
OhnoOsiel You're right, no doubt, but that's my opinion. I have a bias, considering most of my childhood was centered around the original game. The remake is a lot easier from what I've played of it.
Sylvester Stogether That and the remix of Cakcleta's battle music along with the overworld music has been improved. But other details are much better in the original. The remake is nice if you don't have the original but the original is slightly better in presentation I think eather version is still a great game
It appears to me that Mario and Luigi have the same strength as the previous game. With the Double Jump, the need to either cut Mario and Luigi's POW in Half or double the HP of the enemies
I am honestly very happy with the new version. It brings back some of my favorite characters that not many people know about or would recognize if I were to cosplay them! Yes most games I've played these days have been toned down to be easier, but why complain? If you want it to be hard why not come up with your own challenges to restrict your use of items etc. Plus the easier atmosphere on a lot of newer games invites newer players in and is more likely to appeal to more people. (Giving the company a larger group of people to work with) I played the original despite most people of my generation knocking out any GBA games since the ds was the newest system when most of us got into video games. This remake gives younger people a chance to know about this wonderful story. And it gives me a reason to think about cosplaying from this game again. Since many people will be so much more familiar with it. I agree that the original of anything always has that charm that a remake can not replace. But it attempted to recreate the music in a new light. (And tbh some of it sounds awesome!) Also one more thing, just because the game is easier does not mean that nintendo doesn't care about the hardcore gamers, I kind of would have hoped that the hardcore gamers would be welcoming of the easier atmosphere as it gives more people a chance to get into the mario games without getting frustrated with the game and quitting. When a noob tries to get into something, one common thing that might make them never touch another game from that series is a game that is difficult for a non experienced gamer like them. I personally like the new effects when Prince Peasley flips his hair. Its much better than the flash in the GBA game. There are a lot of smaller details that I think makes the game look a little better than the GBA game. You can give hate on the remake. I don't care. Thats your choice. Don't really see why you feel the need to put it on a video where no one related to the game creators will ever see it, and I see no reason why everyone needs to argue. Why argue with each other over a game. Everyone has their opinions, I just see no reason to hurt people over it. Saying ur opinion is perfectly fine, but when you become toxic to other people... I just don't understand I guess. Why making people feel bad for their opinions is such a great thing. Why the human mind is so inclined to hurt people, I will never know. Its a video game. That's no reason to hurt someone.
if you think about it, The GBA is easier than the 3DS when it comes to bosses. the first 2 bosses are the same. but the rest have fury, which raises their stats when they are low health.
Something i dislike about the remaster is definitely the advance bros attacks....some of them were REAL dificult to master, especially the advance bounce bros (at least for me it was) and it always felt good when you managed to land a perfect advance attack, in the remaster they made the advance attacks a bit too....easy, i mean i get it that it's for children but still
Sore Wa Chigau Zo BIS is getting a remake next year. I doubt we'll get a PIT remake. I mean, it sold way worse than BIS and a lot of fans (Including me) consider it the worst in the Mario And Luigi series.
Me again. Might I comment on the gameplay in this video? Jesus Christ, 340 damage at times? When we grow up we really become masters of these games, don't we? I remember actually dying to Roy's time bomb at least once when I was a kid. Going back to it at least a year ago and I beat him in the first few turns just like you... but without dealing 340 damage. Geez, these speed runners. Make the rest of us look like schmucks. Another note: ever just play a game as a child and think "Wow I beat the bad guy! yay!" and then play the same game years later and think "Wow, I just killed and banished the soul of an old woman. I mean she was evil, but holy crap this game is darker than I remember." Same thing with Fawful in BIS. He suicide bombs you at the end.
1:26:01 this used to hit my fear glands to the very core as a child playing this game. Bowletta was scaring little children since this game came out. That, and 1:26:21. I was legit scared to finish the game during those points.
I just realized that during the Chuckola Reserve fight the gun arm that appears is supposed to be a barrel and a scope. I always thought it was a dual-barrel kinda thing, like the FLUDD hover nozzle but lethal
Something about the newer games feels off, almost like actions and reactions aren't as satisfying. It doesn't feel snappy enough, the music doesn't have the same energy, and the sound effects don't have as much of a punch. Great, fluid animation, though. Love the way everything looks, just not the way it feels. Y'know what?.... I kinda hope they don't do a remake of Partners in Time. This is going to sound totally horrible, but I don't want them to ruin the score. Also, SUGGESTIONGS FUCK OFF WITH ALL OF THE CUPHEAD VIDEOS, GOD DAMMIT! I WANT TO GO IN BLIND AND TH-cam IS FUCKING IT UP FOR ME! Edit: ALTHOUGH, I am glad that Nintendo is getting more of their classic games into the eyes of a newer generation. We need more - as Nintendo puts it - "Gawr'hars, O'hos and Teehees" in gaming, and the humor in the Mario & Luigi series - while never enough to make me bust out laughing even when I was a kid - is still incredibly charming and adds some much needed personality to the Marioverse. If only more games went out of their way to build up charm like Nintendo games do. Edit 2: Also forgot to mention how much I like some of the new mechanics. Cutscene fast forwarding, X being assigned to a permanent jump function that overrides whichever overworld bro action is currently selected, the updated bro action selection screen. Very handy. A minor gripe I have is with some of the battle mechanics... is what I would say if the things they changed about battle mechanics and actions couldn't be ignored completely. Easy mode is toggle-able, bros moves are always the same difficulty now and instructions for them can be toggled on or off, and the emergency guard can just be ignored. Its very nice. They can fuck right off with that new Save in pause menu function. We had to deal with that horrible feeling of losing a shit ton of progress when we lost a battle, why shouldn't newer player shave to deal with it? (Im bitter)
CorporateCanine yeah I feal ya man the bit graphics just feal so much nicer to the eyes and give the series a unique feel when compared to the mainstream Mario games
I honestly feel like they don't need remakes. They're both on the DS, and 3DS has backwards compatibility. Both games had their fair share of content, and while not exactly recent, they are more modern (closer to the current Mario&Luigi formula) in comparison to Superstar Saga. I think Superstar Saga was only remade because it was a Gameboy Game and Nintendo dropped gameboy compatibility after the DS Lite. I know the 3DS has added a lot of Gameboy games to its virtual store for download, but Mario & Luigi sells well enough that it makes sense that Nintendo did a remake to make some extra cash instead of simply adding it to the eShop. Perhaps they could re-release instead of remake PiT and BIS so that people can get them now in case them missed out on them before.
CorporateCanine not many people will re buy the same game. BIS did well enough for a remake it deserves one in my opinion. But there are other ways to play those games without buying it. a bis remake should be made for their next handheld (if and when they make one) or after 2 or more M&L games
Most of the comments are about people complaining about the remake ( which I like better then the gba version personally ) hmmm sounds like another GAMING COMPANY with a blue HEGDEHOG but you get the point so quit complaining over a REMAKE of a game that some of you probably like and that YOU DONT HAVE TO PLAY Yeesh
NintenTwister yeah But whats worse is a lot of people had a shit ton of fun with this remake but still complain Its like enjoying a steak like you were hungry for weeks but complain that its a bit salty
Steven Johnson You're only saying that cause they made the game easier for noobie little kids like you. Sure the boss battles are longer on the remake, but they made the attacks and bros attacks easier to do. Not to mention that you can now do double the attack and double the damage on the remake. You probably haven't even beat the original or the remake. Thus proving that you have no skills and you suck at the game. So shut up, NOOB!
Erik 1 Gamer first of bitch I don't have the game nor have I played and I'm only stating that people don't know how to be great full for and should stop complaining and for the record I'm a grown ass man so if you don't mind fuck off
I had the pleasure of fighting the first Cackletta boss in my own non-3DS game. It was IMPOSSIBLE... In the end, I wanted to save-state but instead, I accidentally... Loaded previous save data, so I went BACK! Moral is: Don't let Cackletta make you mad.
They should've played Cackletta's battle music for the second Fawful battle in the gba version, not popple's. Good thing Nintendo did that for the remake.
In comparison. I like the soundtrack of the original better. But. The animation especially during cutscenes is updated in the remake and just flows with personality.
Out of the 7 Koopalings in the main story, Ludwig is the only suicidal dumbass. His attack is flawless, but its to easy to counter once he stops spamming his attack.
Cosmo More of a nerf, if he just goes all out just to be defeated so easily. I was only complimenting the attack because is more unique rather than copied and improved like the other Koopalings.
Buff and nerf at same time: He uses his powerful ball( it looks like a spirit bomb) which kills you instantly and fires projectiles to interrupt you from the true danger.
1:30:54/1:33:36 Wow, they made Cackletta’s death way more dramatic and scary in the remake. Makes me even more excited for the BIS remake; those were already amazing. (DON’T SPOIL, IT’S NOT OUT WHERE I LIVE YET (I want to experience it all myself))
I wasn't expecting a 3DS remake of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga nor was I expecting a Wii remake of Mario Power Tennis with motion controls but apparently both games exist!

At the same time, some characters really are better with the glow-up... like Bowser.
The Frog Lord well you've been able to do that scence partners and time
In time
The Frog Lord why is making advance moves less complicated a problem?
The moves action commands didnt really change except fire bros super thunder bros and super bounce bros. Plus the animations were changed so the timings were different.
But yeah I dont like some things like the double jump at least they increased enemies health
Don't forget they added more hp to the bosses!
1:32:16 "lucky 666" seems legit
Agreed
1:30 Heh lol look at Luigi’s actions
He is dancing to the beat
29:32 that part of the battle music when Mario and Luigi jump goes good with it
The music is so GOOD! I loved the music in the original but they definitely made it a lot better!
I loved both versions of the game! I grew up with the original when it was first released and adored the old art style, gags, and mechanics. The remastered version's graphics are breathtaking and Cackletta's soul in the final battle has so much emotion to it!
The final boss looks fantastic in the remake!
I hate critics nowadays. they just find things to rant about
“I hate this version because everything looks & sounds kiddy”
I dont care if people dont like this version but saying it looks kiddy is honestly embarrassing. Yes Superstar saga was meant to be a kids game & this is the same thing but in better quality.
I dont like seeing long usernames on youtube The only complaints about the remake is that it's easier, the bros attacks are slower thus making it easier to time it right, and the bosses have more health than the original.
Erik 1 Gamer Hows having more health easier? & you might have the bp attacks on easy mode.
To me, the bros.attacks are eazer to see now with the circles.
I totally get it
@@yoshikass11 also the separated Advanced moves, you don't have to use a specific code anymore because the moves are already separated.
Differences in both games:
1. 3DS looks more awesome.
@@rogue1248 Partners in time had the double jump, too
@@cris3760to an extent, yes but it required the babies whereas these games didn’t, because the babies didn’t come back. What I’m trying to say here is that Mario and Luigi couldn’t perform a double jump by themselves in PiT
It's depressing knowing Charles Martinet is getting old and tired. Mario old voice sounds like an actual person while his new voice sounds like a man forcing his voice to sound different.
Nah, his "old" voice sometimes verged on just a high pitch without an accent...2002 onward was peak.
Hopefully, his voice clips from the past two decades will be reused when he finally passes, but I bet Nintendo will try to get an imitator.
Quintin Blanson I'm actually surprised that they kept Mario's voice actor the same for more than 20 years.
I'm sad he already old and may a decade and a half left, I don't know how I'm gonna react to that day. I may never play Mario again.
I bet Japan'll give him a national holiday. I hope we do that.
All of the people saying the original is better and/or the remake sucks...
Think of it this way.. If the original had never existed, and the remake wad a completely new game..
Would it still suck? I would hope not. Not to mention that they are the same game, but the new one has better aesthetics and
a second story mode. Most of people's opinions are dictated by nostalgia and I'm sick of it. I think this remake is amazing!
The only complaint I have is that it's really easy.. But that's it. The sprites are great, the music is awesome, and the addition of the
Bowser's minions storyline is nice. Too bad this game has such a bad rep because of nostalgia freaks.
Cat Kid12 They are saying it sucks in comparison. You freaking dumbass.
9bladesofice Well said. 👏🏻
9bladesofice I think him not playing the original makes his arguement better from having a fresh experience
Cackletta doesn’t flip us off anymore. I can’t tell whether or not that’s an improvement.
Excuse me? Timestamp, please?

I played the GBA and the 3DS and both games are good in their own right. My only complaint about the remake is that it feels too easy. I love the additional minions story that fills in a lot of blanks.
Wouldve loved a new boss gauntlet in the remake. Oh well, beating the game was fun enough
Is it just me or does Wendy and the rest of the Koopalings have the same voices from MK8?
The 3ds version doesn't use models it uses 2d sprites just like the original

Man the the GBA version of Mario and Luigi look cute...
Especially Luigi.
It appears to me that Mario and Luigi have the same strength as the previous game. With the Double Jump, the need to either cut Mario and Luigi's POW in Half or double the HP of the enemies
It seemed like enemies survived as long as in the 1st to me, so they probably did do it proportionally.
Fuskimybalss🤑😛😜😚😷😷💩💩
🎉
30:58 Mario landing syncs perfectly with the music
if you think about it, The GBA is easier than the 3DS when it comes to bosses. the first 2 bosses are the same. but the rest have fury, which raises their stats when they are low health.

I like the game boy version better.
I also Miss the orginal, the nostalgic memories l have with it just can't be redone by the newer version.
I love it when popple’s face grows super big when he’s angry.
I mean she was evil, but holy crap this game is darker than I remember."

I just realized that during the Chuckola Reserve fight the gun arm that appears is supposed to be a barrel and a scope. I always thought it was a dual-barrel kinda thing, like the FLUDD hover nozzle but lethal
1:31:08 My thoughts: The Graphics are great, and the music has a cool tune to it. ;)
Even though the 3DS version looks better.
I prefer the GBA version because for me it has better music, and it's more nostalgic
Well if people want a bowsers inside story remake we have to go thru partners in time
I honestly feel like they don't need remakes.
So basically, nostalgia.
CorporateCanine not many people will re buy the same game. BIS did well enough for a remake it deserves one in my opinion. But there are other ways to play those games without buying it. a bis remake should be made for their next handheld (if and when they make one) or after 2 or more M&L games

Out of the 7 Koopalings in the main story, Ludwig is the only suicidal dumbass. His attack is flawless, but its to easy to counter once he stops spamming his attack.
NintenTwister It really is and yeah, I agree.
Cosmo More of a nerf, if he just goes all out just to be defeated so easily. I was only complimenting the attack because is more unique rather than copied and improved like the other Koopalings.
Buff and nerf at same time:
He uses his powerful ball( it looks like a spirit bomb) which kills you instantly and fires projectiles to interrupt you from the true danger.
