Bought a Browning SA22 back in 1962. Grandkids just shot it last Monday.....had a blast, shoots like a champ and in Semi--Auto it puts lead down the range by the boxfull!! You''ll love Browning, anything. Sitting here looking at my Browning 30-06, bought in 1963 for deer hunting (out west mulies). Still has the old Weaver 4x Scope....Yep, hooked.

I've never had a problem with Mossberg's rifles. I've had the super cheap Mavericks made in Maverick County Texas, the better ATR 100's with fluted barrels, and the Patriots. Two things are they shoot good cold but quickly heat up and start walking, which is not a big deal at all for a hunting rifle. The best thing I like is the best ammo I found they all like is the cheapest Walmart Winchester gray box PowerPoints in the heavier bullet weights. And it does seem to matter if the barrel touches the stock in the channel. My 2 cents anyhow.
My old friend had one. He told me he used to keep it in his trapping truck. It was stolen one day, it would be almost 12 years before he got it bqck. The thief pawned it and was caught. And he got it bqck it was a lot worst for ware but still very functional. The smile on his face when she showed it to me, I will never forget.
Normally the parkerized with black synthetic stocked brownings are known as the “stalker” model. Awesome piece brother. That bps has one of the slickest actions ever.
Welcome to the world of 10 gauge. The BPS is cool, because it ejects the shells out the floor of the receiver (in all gauges). Easier to recover your brass, and no hot hulls landing in your fellow shooters hoodie - they'll really thank you for that. I have 3 10's. I have a BPS pump, an Armsport O/U, and a Browning Gold 10 semi-auto. The Armsport is a beast at just under 10 pounds. That weight absorbs a lot of the recoil. The Gold 10 is gas operated, and thus, it also keeps recoil manageable. Both about the same as an average 12 gauge 3 inch load. But that BPS is going to kick hard. If you can save your hulls and reload, you will save a lot of money, AND there are some really cool ways to customize your 10 gauge outputs. Normal 10 gauge is 2 to 2 1/4 ounces of lead versus 1 7/8 ounces in a 12 gauge 3 inch. I have a recipe for 3 ounce 10 gauge loads. Imagine that for turkey hunting or home defense!!!!
I've shot my uncle's 10 gauge single shot, 3 1/2 in slugs out of it and 3 1/2 in 000 buck shot out of it. The recoil wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I have a 10 gauge Magnum Single Barrel I think Stephen Savage made it I've had about 15 years and needless to say it does have some real recoil it's got a 36-inch extended full choke duck Barrel on it and it'll bounce your shoulder pretty hard
Welcome to the Mighty 10 Clan. The BPS10 is a pretty fun machine. One of its greatest attributes for the hand-loader is the ability to cycle shorter hull loads. While 2-5/8” and 2-7/8” loads have not been available commercially for some time, hand loading gives you a lot of flexibility. Whereas the Gold 10 cannot cycle “short” loads, and the Mag-10/SP-10 has to be sprung and “tuned” just right to reliably cycle 2-7/8” loads, the BPS10 will reliably cycle loads as short as 2-1/2” exceptionally well. I have taken my dove hunting with 1-1/4oz loads and run a number of different short loadings through it. My latest “short” hull project has been a high-velocity 12 pellet 2-7/8” 00 buckshot load that leaves the muzzle of my BPS’ 30” barrel at well over 1,600 FPS (according to my chrono). 1-1/2oz Fury slugs can also be sent down range at blistering speeds that make the 12ga look like a pop gun. Enjoy your new boomer. Hopefully another company picks up the 10ga slack soon and the crazy prices we have been seeing on the Browning 10’s and others will come down.
@@darrallipke8070 you need to use a power-piston type wad like the SP10 or PT1044 with a mylar wrap and buffer. I am not using hard cast 00, just Hornady Swaged Buckshot. Proper choking also helps; my BPS seems to like the Kick’s Gobling Thunder .690” choke for heavy fine shot and light to heavy buckshot loads. I have a short on my channel demonstrating 25 and 50 yards patterns with my load. I will be creating a full-length load video in the near future demonstrating the load assembly, velocity, and patterns.
That’s crazy. I saw several boxes of 10 gauge at Bass Pro Shops and Vans Outdoors today. I told Mrs. R4 I haven’t seen that in a while it must be getting popular again. 👍👍
I bought the same 10 gauge years ago, had a hard time finding reasonable priced ammo so I bought a 10 gauge reloader and it answered all my problems. Was it practical, probably not, but now I can make all kind of crazy loads you would never find at a reasonable price. Nice to play with and it doesn’t break the bank!!!
I ordered the browning gold about 10 years ago and now also have the H&R pardner turkey special the recoil isn’t that bad from either one. The gold is my duck, goose, and the occasional deer gun. The single shot is almost strictly used for turkeys. And they are both amazing with patterns and performance. If you read this go buy a 10 and drive the prices down and the availability up.
You picked up a winner there! Browning BPS Synthetic Stalker model in 10ga. with 30" barrel has been a fantastic shotgun for me over the years. Had mine since 1989/90. Back in the day made a midnight run down I-95 to LLBean in Freeport, ME 'cause I had to have one. Still have her! With big 'ol foster slugs... open sights... you'll keep a group size into palm of your hand at 100yds. With lead loads and full powder charges... it will let you know by stretchin' your face cheeks back to your ear lobes... lol. That BPS is a keeper!!!
I got a double barrel 10 gauge and I love it! The ammo might not be the most common and it kicks a bit harder than 12, but once you go 10 gauge, you never go back lol
We hunted geese and sand hill crane with three semi auto 10 gauge shotguns. They knock those high flyers out of the sky and we sure had a blast! My dad habded them down 7:49 and I've got one and my younger brother has one then his son has the last won! I really don't know how old they are and can't remember what brand. I haven't taken mine out of the safe in over ten years after I had my shoulder surgery!
Ruger has excellent customer service. I had a ruger m77 in 7 rem mag. It shot terrible also. I called ruger and they put a new barrel on and it shoots great now. I had a browning bps 10 gauge years ago for turkey hunting. It will rock you pretty good with the turkey loads.
I have a Harrington and Richardson model 176 10 ga magnum goose gun! Found it in an old timers collection years ago, absolutely love that gun! It turns clay pigeons into a poof of powder at 40-50 yrds really well!
10ga kind of went to the wayside when 12ga 3.5” magnum came out. The 10ga also started to become obsolete when the mandatory steel shot regs for waterfowl came out as very few made steel shot for 10ga initially. Those that could find 10ga steel usually had vintage shotguns not designed for steel shot. I have a SxS 10ga and I haven’t fired the thing in 30yrs. I have 4 shotguns chambered for 12ga 3.5” and only fired 2 rounds of 3.5” ever. The report hurt my dogs ears and I learned that I never needed 3.5” to kill ducks and geese. Anyone wanting a Browning BPS in 10ga, my brother has a nice one he’s been trying to sell for years.
If ya really wanna take a ride on the recoil wagon, I believe it's Brenneke that makes a massive bear load slug for the 10 ga, that is like 2oz or something. Thanks for another video buddy👍
I got a Browning Gold lite 10ga as a college graduation present a few years ago. LOVE IT. Total overkill for most of my waterfowl hunting but it sure is fun! The heavier loads like the 2oz+ turkey loads and goose loads I use certainly do recoil more than a 12ga but not terrible. It’s more of a blunt push rather than a sharp push from a heavy and fast rifle cartridge. But for mine being the auto loader is fun and about the same recoil wise as a single shot or pump 12ga. I use Boss #3/5 bismuth loads for geese and ducks. You’re welcome to come jump in the boat and come goose hunt the Missouri River with us!
I have a BPS 20g with wood furniture. That thing is slick, dang good shooter. Love the golden triggers on the wood ones, have the same on my buckmark hunter.
Back in the 80's I bought an OU Armsport 10 Goose Gun. Steel shot 12 ga at the time just was not working on waterfowl so this gun really helped reach out and touch-em. With 32" barrels it was heavy and slow to swing but it sure was fun seeing ducks drop at ranges we never thought possible. Yeah it packed a punch too!
The Browning BPS has an interesting history. It was designed by John Browning for Remington and became the Remington model 17. Remington quit building the model 17 in the mid 1930s. Ithaca picked it up in 1937. They made a few minor changes and it became the Ithaca model 37. Browning started making the BPS shotgun in 1977. I don't think parts will interchange but it's still the same basic action designed by John Browning during WW1. PS. I've read that Ithaca is still building a few model 37s.
To funny, I just bought new never fired in the box 1995 Browning bps field in 12 gauge. Starting to shoot sporting clays, so I set out to find a good trap/field gun. I was looking for a 20 gauge over under (now there's a rabit hole) or maybe a Semi auto in 20 gauge. In my quest I ran into a buddy who had this BPS that he was willing to sell. Did some research and the hook was set. Bought it on Thursday. Here in Vermont we have a 72 hour cool off wait time, just in case I fell the need to murder some sporting clays. Going down to pick it up today, can't wait. Once I get my hands on this shotgun it will soon lose the title of never fired. Like you video format. Love everything hunting firearms.
My dad had an sp10 i believe one of my brothers has it now. We passed that thing around to take gobblers that were bad to hang up in pastures in the mornings. With the right 3 inch load you could have 100 percent effective catching power at 65 yards. I took one at 55 yards that no matter what i tried including using a decoy it just wouldnt break its pattern of flying down strutting in the pasture against the joining property line then going onto that property for the rest of the day. I set up as close as i could to his catwalk and sure enough he came in to my limb calls again but did the same old game. When he camme out of the shadows for some morning sun at 55 yards he went down right there. Those were some fun times!
Your shoulder will definitely feel it on a Snow goose hunt. I used my 3 1/2 12 gauge my first time snow goose hunting, I dropped down to 3” and 2 3/4 after that. Buddy used his 10 gauge BPS for the morning and switch back to his 12.
I had a Browning 270 sa and a Browning BL 22 , both were outstanding. I wish I'd have kept them both. The BL 22 has a very short and fast lever action.
That bps is pretty common to find but the Indian river choke is really hard to come across in 10 gauge. If you bought that rig for less than a grand I would definitely say you found a screaming good deal. You’ll definitely like that choke that’s what I run at turkey shoots and for turkey hunting, one of the tightest chokes I’ve came across.
All hail the mighty 10! I own several 10's, in the right gun they are great. Ive had a BPS 10 for years, and have to say it & all 10 gauges with choke tubes DO NOT shot as well as choked guns. But love them all the same.
I’ve wanted one for a long time finally got one a few months ago and love it,they don’t really kick that bad because they’re so heavy but I’ve been told they are a tank of a gun, good thing you got one because they quit making them earlier this year, gona get harder to find.
I have one as well with a scrolled receiver. There excellent goose and turkey guns. Make sure you can shoot steel through that choke before you damage it
I have a Remington SP10 10ga simiauto got it to Goose hunt and it's ported It don't kick any more than my 12. Gauge with 3 1/2 inch shot shells. Works great on Turkey.Excellent on ducks and geese have taken quite a few hogs A few coyotes That's about it.Looking forward to see it out on the range And about snow goose hunting.I do have a good place out in Katy Texas just let me know
My dad was an avid duck hunter. He tried the 10 ga and felt it didn’t shoot any denser pattern than the 12 ga magnum and the shells weren’t so darn expensive and hard to find. He sold that pig and it’s 32” barrel after one season. I did a lot of upland hunting because I had several good bird dogs. I switched from 20 ga to 28 over dogs, especially when guiding, 26” barreled 28ga SxS quickest pointing gun I’ve ever shot, low recoil let me get on a second bird faster as well.
I used to own one in hi gloss. Very powerful gun that can kick hard. I used to deer hunt with rifled slugs in Minnesota. You should be able to find steel shot for goose hunting.
You’re gonna enjoy that weapon, I’ve had mine for 25 years. Taken everything from deer and hogs to ducks and turkeys. FYI they also make slugs for the 10 but they are hard to find.
They have it painted up nicely. It has a little more snort for kick than a 12 gauge. If you have fired a 12 gauge that shoots the three and half inch shell it's the same. Enjoy your new gun.
BPS was my favorite back in the day for waterfowl and turkey… had many satisfied customers with it. With 2 1/4 ounce lead for turkey it packs a pretty good punch but not that bad.
When it ejects the empty shell it will sometimes knock your next live shell out the bottom. The savage pump 30-30 are the same style and they do the same thing
I have a Baretta side by side 10 gauge from the 60’s I believe. It was my father’s goose gun . Gun is so damn heavy lol I would hate to have to carry it very far !
I bought my BPS 10ga a couple of years ago. Recoil isn’t bad do the weight of the shotgun. Browning was the last manufacturer of 10 ga, but they discontinued the line this year.
Love my BPS shotguns. On that you may want to pop the recoil pad loose and stick some lead in the stock where the hole is for the stock bolt. A couple flat decoy weights work well and will make a huge difference to your shoulder.
My brother in law bought a new Browning semi auto 10 gauge in the early 1980s. The first time he fired it. He put three shells in it. He pulled the trigger once. It went whomp whomp whomp; The first shot was at a patterning board. The third shot was almost straight up in the air. He called Browning. He sent it back to Browning. It came back fixed. He loved goose hunting. And he loved that Browning. The recoil from the semi auto was manageable but it was stout.
Here in the land of beer and cheese the 10ga is mostly used for goose hunting... Maximum legal hunting shot size is limited to sizes BB, BBB, T for the cheddar head state.
I used to have an old New England Firearms single barrel 10ga chambered in 3.5 in. It was a fun gun to shoot but being a single barrel I didn’t have much use for it, but I liked the gun.
I had the BPS 10 for quite awhile. I wanted it for geese. It would reach out and touch them. I could shoot about a box of shells through it before I had to trade it with someone else in the group. I always wound up with a concussion headache from the recoil. Shooting a 12 right after the 10 was like shooting a cap gun. I love watching whoever I traded with in the blind wallop birds 70 yards up…..I wound up selling it. It was not worth the literal headache it gave me…..and it was a complete pain to tear apart and clean. It was very difficult to reassemble.
I've had and used several 10 gauges over the years and I didn't think they had as much recoil as a 3 and half inch 12 gauge, but part of that was because the guns were heavier. I also think that because the 10 gauge is larger diameter that they hold a tighter pattern farther
Actually, all the people I know who have shot both say that the 12 ga. 3 1/2" magnum kicks worse than a 10 gauge. Both fire the same payload at the same velocity, but the 12 ga. is forcing it all through a smaller hole - hence more recoil.
I have 2 Mossberg Patriot rifles. In 6.5 Creedmoor and 375 Ruger and the 6.5, with 129 gr Hornaday or Winchester, groups at 3/4" - 3 shots at 100 yds and the 375 Ruger, with the Hornaday 270 gr soft points at 2,850 fps groups at just over 1/2" - 3 shot groups at 100 yds. Nobody I personally know has had one lick of a problem. Can't figure out for the life of me why they are hated!! I've gotten far worse groups with the Savage Axis! You couldn't gift me one of those!! Lol. Now the Savage 110-116 series, great rifles in my experience. Axis, had a 308 and a 243 and neither would group less than 3" at 100 yds, no matter what ammo I used
I used to goose, duck, and turkey hunt with a browning bps 10 ga when I was a young wimpy fella. That thing weighs 10lbs loaded. Carrying it a million miles is why I’m not wimpy anymore. 😅 It belonged to my dad. One of my brothers still has it.
Seen an old double barrel 10 in an antique shop about ten years ago. Fair shape, but didn't have the dough. "Keep your finger off the trigger in the house." LMAO
Always finds the best stuff! Y’all don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share with your shooting/hunting buddies! True friends show they care by sending Who_Tee_Whoo videos!
My biggest regret bing bang wise is when I passed on a brand new in the box Marlin Super Goose 10 ga back in the late 70’s. I could have bought it for under $200 but couldn’t imagine when I’d ever shoot it or where I’d be able to find 10 ga ammo. Now, if one can even find one, they are 3 to 5 times that price used. Drat!
Mack prairie wing in Arkansas will have the shells for the 10 gauge .i sold mine because it gave me a concussion shooting it at ducks s honker's..they will rock you out the boat from the kicking of the gun .definite will reach out a touch the target.kiiled geese at 90 yards .turkeys at 70 yrds dead dead

I've watched you since the early day's one thing i've noticed is your shooting was always good but you've taken it to the next level. the way you grip the trigger when shooting rifles changes a lot, did you learn that at the long range shooting school with the 22-250 or is that something you picked up on your own
I took my 1st Deer(I was 7) with a 10 gauge In North Dakota(I am now 66)!! Yup it knocked the Snot out of me, but I goy my Deer!
Wow!
Can you elaborate on the story? I love hearing hunting tales.
What kinda shot u use?
Lol 😆 🤣 would have been a sight to see
I'm from Grand Forks😂
All manufacturers make mistakes. I've dealt with Ruger customer service before and they are TOP NOTCH! 👍
I told them the extractor flew off my LCPll and they sent me a whole new slide/barrel package quickly, and at no charge. They back their stuff up for sure.

Shewee
A kiln gun. They use those to break up the klinker in the boilers. Oh yeah.
I own 5 sporting 8's. The modern 10 shoots better than all of them.
My uncle had an 8ga slug that a guy gave him that used it to shoot the hopper on a screen plant when it plugged 😂
My dad and my brother worked in a mill all their lives. I remember, I think, hearing about 10 Guage being used.
"More sissified"...total agreement.
I HATE to get rid of a gun as well.
Love your work man. Anxious to watch this one!
Thanks for watching

You are going to feel it.
You should have Tolivers sell your trade ins online stating they were your previous guns. Would probably open a big secondary market for both of you.
brianklamer - That's actually a really good idea. Somebody needs to mention this to Tollivers.
Yeah, whoever is selling Iraqveteran8888's old guns makes sure to mention that fact!
It still has the same value as the other guns it doesn’t change anything now that he’s shot it so it’s pointless to sell it for more 😂😂
@@jamestaylor7768 Wasn't to get more for the gun but instead to draw more customers to the seller.
Now this is a great show and thanks again for the info and you are the best 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🤠
It’s a great feeling finally getting something you have wanted for a long time.

I've shot my uncle's 10 gauge single shot, 3 1/2 in slugs out of it and 3 1/2 in 000 buck shot out of it. The recoil wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Not that bad. Still 10,000 psi operating pressure unlike the 3-1/2" 12 at 16,000 psi with nearly the same load of shot makes it a bit more nasty.
I have a 10 gauge Magnum Single Barrel I think Stephen Savage made it I've had about 15 years and needless to say it does have some real recoil it's got a 36-inch extended full choke duck Barrel on it and it'll bounce your shoulder pretty hard
I wish we had pawn shops like that around here.
I tried buckshot that fast and mine flattened out and flew like frisbees. What kind of shot doesn’t flatten at that speed, this I need to know.
Drone killer !!!
Awesome
Sweet…love all things browning…especially the bps👍
Ruger has excellent customer service. I had a ruger m77 in 7 rem mag. It shot terrible also. I called ruger and they put a new barrel on and it shoots great now. I had a browning bps 10 gauge years ago for turkey hunting. It will rock you pretty good with the turkey loads.
Awesome
I have a Harrington and Richardson model 176 10 ga magnum goose gun! Found it in an old timers collection years ago, absolutely love that gun! It turns clay pigeons into a poof of powder at 40-50 yrds really well!
Would love to see you try a Browning BAR, X bolt or BLR!
He's waiting on the x-bolt until he finds one in 375 h&h.
@@Gioeli76 thanks for the info
How about a 4 bore or punt gun?
Sounds awesome
Your one Awesome Dude, love the 10 Ga.
Browning BPS. Great shotgun for both left and right handed shooters.
Paper plate penetration comparison with 12 gauge slugs! Great find!
Awesome. Thanks for watching!
Good find.
You enjoy the suspense, nobody else does.
I had a Remington SP10. I loved that gun.
Love to find one. They are a small fortune now
My dad had an sp10 i believe one of my brothers has it now.
🦃🦃🦃
Lmao the Tile butt dial.
Sir, I know the feeling.😂😂
Yup!!!
Love the gun. Greetings from South Africa.
I have one that I bought back in 2002 and used it a couple of times goose hunting. Used 3-12" T and F.
I had that same shotgun back in the late 80s. The recoil isn't super bad, it puts the hurtin on honkers lol.
Awesome
Gerry Blair used to write articles about hunting coyotes with a 10 ga,He wrote for the Trapper paper probably in the late 80s,Thanks
Awesome
Great find W.T.H.!
That has to be my favorite bing bang you have shown on this channel. I’ve never shot a 10 gauge but it must be a great turkey and deer getter
🦃🦃🦃🦌🦌🦌
Thanks for watching!
More soon
Yeah that's that new song by Remington Richie.
Ole what a feeling shooting holes in the ceiling.
Very, very nice new bing-bang, awesome on the 10ga.
I think WTW needs a .416 Remington Magnum.
I agree on the 416
I used to use a 10 gauge when I was young that my neighbor had. It was a mule kicker
I would love to see an episode on the quarter calibers. 25-06, 257 Roberts, 257 weatherby magnum, 25 Souper (aka 25-08)
Snow goose! Hell elephant! That would be a Flippin blast at the trap range!
The BPS 10 gauge is a beast, not the hardest kicking 10 gauge but I think that has more to do with the weight and a nice squishy pad.
A friend of mine waterfowl hunts with a 10 gauge. It has a wallop!
Here in the land of beer and cheese the 10ga is mostly used for goose hunting... Maximum legal hunting shot size is limited to sizes BB, BBB, T for the cheddar head state.
I have a Browning 12 gauge that ejects out the bottom. Nice gun. I've had it about 25 years
👍😊 it’s the big pump you enjoy that.
Yikes
I've had and used several 10 gauges over the years and I didn't think they had as much recoil as a 3 and half inch 12 gauge, but part of that was because the guns were heavier. I also think that because the 10 gauge is larger diameter that they hold a tighter pattern farther
The truth, I thought it would be a 375 H&H. But I guess that will be in the future perhaps. Good purchase 👍👍
Welcome to the browning family. Me and my daughter have a pile of browning rifles and shotguns. We love our xbolts and our auto 5s. Lmk how ya like it
I’ve never even heard of a 10 gauge so this will be very interesting, thanks mate ✌️
Thanks for watching
Axis, had a 308 and a 243 and neither would group less than 3" at 100 yds, no matter what ammo I used
Who-Thee-Who to me that thing is a hand held canon.
That would probably kick me across the creek, bull dog power right there
Oh my!
I’m sure your little frame felt that. 😂
Always finds the best stuff! Y’all don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share with your shooting/hunting buddies! True friends show they care by sending Who_Tee_Whoo videos!
I had a Browning BPS 10ga. for goose and sand hill crane hunting. It had a thump and a definite sound signature
Awesome
@@WHOTEEWHOit had all the pretty stuff. Shiny checkered stock, high gloss blued, and a 30" or 32" barrel.
Drat!
Ok so the Weatherby is your new 280AI deer catcher? You won’t be disappointed by any means!
Yup it is
@@WHOTEEWHO
So you got the 307 in 280AI? Good choice I’d like to try a 307 myself just to see?
Love my bps10 I hunt deer turkey and geese I also have harvested several bear with mine but i restocked in wood
Awesome
Mack prairie wing in Arkansas will have the shells for the 10 gauge .i sold mine because it gave me a concussion shooting it at ducks s honker's..they will rock you out the boat from the kicking of the gun .definite will reach out a touch the target.kiiled geese at 90 yards .turkeys at 70 yrds dead dead
I've watched you since the early day's one thing i've noticed is your shooting was always good but you've taken it to the next level. the way you grip the trigger when shooting rifles changes a lot, did you learn that at the long range shooting school with the 22-250 or is that something you picked up on your own
I was taught how to shoot from a handful of people
When you got that scratch, you can't itch 😂
