The posts are called Durapost and we got them from a building supplier called McKinneys. This was a prototype for me and I found that on 7ft double sheeted fence there was too much swaying so I decided to put 2 concrete posts on the inside of the fence and cover them with timber to stabilise. THE metal posts have punched holes every 30mm or so the whole way up the length so decide for yourself what spacings you want...Look I can't say much more without

I would recommend this style of fencing for anyone who has limited space and looking for a slimline alternative but don't go for higher than 6ft on a double sheeted fence and 7ft on a single sheeted fence. It's an excellent alternative to 4x4 wooden posts but choose your options carefully
Good to know, perhaps they're about as flexible as 3x3 posts?? I'm about to do a retaining wall using these posts, probably 60cm in to the ground, 45cm high wall and 1.5m between posts. Has to be strong enough surely?
i wish i could see up close how you attached the wood to metal posts. i have chain link in front yard, want to replace with pickets and use existing posts. regrettable that instruction didn't seem to be the purpose of the video. it is a beautiful fence.
The H iron posts come galvanised with punch holes already spaced. 3 holes fit 1backing rail. Use high quality screws centered with the middle hole centered on the rail
What are your posts made of. Are they metal concrete or wood . What height are they, and what are their dimensions. If you have metal posts which I suspect you may have. It has to have a 50 mm or so rebate, groove to allow the backing rails to fit snuggly into the chanel and fixed securely through the holes
Tidy job lads, would you recommend those posts for standard 6ft fencing ? Like you, I have never used these but may give them a try. re they as solid as 4x4 wooden posts or do you think they are a little more flimsy ? Great video and very tidy work !
You deserve an answer, I sheeted fence boards on each side and not only that it was a 7ft fence. It swayed like an anaconda so I solved the problem with two concrete posts each a thirds of the way from each end and cladded in timber using the posts as a demarcation for the bed which was deliberately raised to Bury the roots of the line of cypress trees that had just been removed. Hi guys, great video. Spent a long time now looking at these Duraposts, seem to be well spoke of. This fence you've done is exactly what I want to do in the back garden. I've got everything priced ip etc but can I just ask please, what is the timber you used for actual fence boards? Doesn't look like feather edge overlap? I'm not keen on the feather edge look, was after a flat close board finish.
That looks fantastic. I'm hoping to build my fence exactly like this, a few questions if that's ok What size is the rail/baton that the slats screw into? Can the durapost be left visible? Or do you recommend covering it with a slat? Do you recommend concrete gravel boards haunced or the plastic ones (which are expensive) ? Thanks n best of luck.
75mm x 50mm Backing rails. Not advisable to leave the Durapost exposed as the fence boards sit proud of them. Concrete pin kerbs used along the base of the fence, altogether a far more durable and better looking finish. Please subscribe if you're happy with the answers to all your comments
Hi mate, lovely looking job I’ve put in a few of these now, usually at 6ft6. I’ve been told that their strength lie in their flexibility, surely durapost the company would say that you don’t need the extra concrete posts. I raised the swaying with my local merchant and they said this is a normal issue with them. I personally don’t like them, give me 6x6 timber posts any day. How do you feel? Maybe these posts are just designed for the slot in fencemate products instead of using them with timber.
Sorry I took so long to reply. Postcrete or any other quick drying concrete will set really quick but be careful you only have about 5mins for any minor adjustments. No need to wait a day
They were sheeted in wood to disguise the need for the stability and emphasis on the raised bed on the inside lawn to cover the fact that Cyprus stumps were left in the ground to slowly rot away

Punched holes already spaced the whole length of the metal posts. You can determine the size of spaced backing rails yourself
Nice fence but most every place in USA only allows 6 foot max height . This looks to be nearly 8 so I’m surprised other countries allow

This is a 7 ft double sheeted fence. Just feel that it needs that extra support. Better safe than sorry. Take no risks

Do the postmaster need a day to dry like the regular 4x4 posts? I’m paying a contractor to do mine and he says he will do the project in 1 day...
