Should have opened it up on a quiet road. Pootling around town at 4000rpm doesnt give you a true impression of how good these bikes are.Yes you can pootle along, enjoying the comfy seat and smooth motor but they have a160 mph top end and the same maximum torque as an early r1 at 1000 rpm lower. Roll on overtakes in top gear no problem and drop a gear for real speed. They have a following by those who know about them. For me the best all round bike for the money.
I totally agree, if it was my bike I would have tested it a bit more but I was so impressed by it, even at that mileage it felt like a new bike. You can't beat the Japanese build quality, thanks for watching and commenting, stay safe ❤👍
owned my 2004 fzs1000 fazer for 14 years now, they are only detuned by 6bhp over the r1 engine they are based on but actually have more torq on the bottom end and mid range, they have 143bhp stock, will do 0-60 in less than 3s top speed 160mph, and 1/4 in less than 11 seconds have ridden many bikes and its the best all rounder ever had so wont sell it that one you were on was a bad example as looked like it had been seriously neglected, we long term owners of them tend to do some choice mods which just makes better in everyway. you also had about 40 miles of range left in the tank on fuel. they will do over 200 miles to a tank quite easily
is it still practical to buy a first gen fazer 1000 carburetor type up to this year? i really like to own this bike but i have doubt on the maintenance of the 4 carburetor compared to the FI versions
@@arthurpatricio9898depends. Don’t just let it sit for months without running it/fresh fuel. I always add synthetic two-stroke oil to mine, it actually stopped one carb from leaking.
I absolutely agree, I thoroughly enjoyed riding it, it had effortless power and felt like a new bike even though it had loads of miles on it. I'm seriously considering buying one as I think I could ride it for miles and get some serious distance done in comfort. Thanks for watching, stay safe 👍

I quite believe it, the garage that loaned it to me asked me to take it easy because it hadn't been ridden for a while but actually it felt bulletproof 👍
I’m not remotely surprised that you enjoyed the Fazer thou. I’ve owned around 30 ‘big bikes’, and the big Fazer is my joint top bike, along with Honda’s Blackbird. Superb machines, and built to ride, not pose.
Totallt agree, was a pleasure to ride, and felt like a new bike even though it had a few miles under its belt. Thanks for watching and really appreciate the commenting too ❤👍
1000s are monsters, I like them but just cant even get to 1/4 throttle on them. Just feels like tickling them. Open them open and it's 70 in first gear. When I tried the cb1000 I went up to 95mph and didn't even get chance to get into 3rd! (edit that was on a track of course) 😉
I would love to have had longer on the bike, it was so smooth and the grunt was all through the rev range. Thanks for watching, and I really appreciate the feedback ❤👍
Thats amazing thank you, ive subbed back, lovibg the harley channels I subscribe to, the machinery and engineering is stunning, I do like to poke fun at some harley riders who refuse to acknowledge other bikes exist though 🤣🤣
You're welcome, I genuinely love harleys, ive ridden the livewire but I'm saving my first proper HD ride for next year when I go on holiday to the states. Can't wait 🇺🇲👍
Was it weird being able to find neutral? 🤔😂 Wind noise probably from windscreen channelling it towards your head. Have a similar problem with my Z1000SX: if I adjust it to the tallest setting the air around my head becomes turbulent, so it's better to leave it low. I've only ever owned Japanese bikes because "character" seems to equate to spending a lot of time riding to the garage to have it fixed. I just like my bikes to start every time 🤷🏻♂️ Nice first impressions video 👍🏼
They are great up there, only used them a couple of times because its a bit of a ride out especially if there's a problem with the bike, but they were highly recommended and I can understand why 👍 The fazer 1000 shocked me, so much easy power and so comfortable 👍
Couple of points you raised...... Wind noise on a "Sports tourer", yep, I've had the same issues on a fazer 600 and gsxf750. Old bike, still going well?! Most Japanese bikes are good for high mileage and long life. Smooooth!! Again, yep, I'm lucky enough to own a Versys 1000 and an Aprilia Dorsoduro 750. As great as the versys is, it lacks the character of the Ape (in my opinion). Another good video, keep it up 👍 BTW, do you have a Facebook page I can follow you on? Or other social media? Grumps.
Great feedback thank you, the wind noise really surprised me, coming from a naked bike i expected it to reduce but it seems to channel all the wind to my head area instead of the monster letting it hit my chest?? Very strange. The bike felt so tight in every area (except trim) and felt good for another 52,000mls . I do have a twitter account and Instagram but I dont reallybise Facebook other than following other pages. Never really got on with it 🙁 Thanks for the awesome feedback and support, im hoping the next couple of vids have a bit more life about them 🤩
Oh my, that poor neglected bike..you could see the cobwebs fluttering in the wind and the rust on the clamp bolts made me feel sad...sounded sweet though 👍... Rsmf, Mark
Yamaha have always made excellent road bikes 👍 just because it's 15 years old doesn't mean anything I ride 27 year old XR600 every now and then still rides like a new bike
@@thedonnybrookghost8394 KTMs are among one of the worst bikes in terms of reliability and longetivity. I bought a new RC390 back in 2014. The bike ran fine for 1st couple of years, after that, it started giving me major problems ij engine every 6 months. Head gasket would fail, oil leakage, gearbox lost its precision, overall, the bike became complete rubbish. Glad I got rid of it in 2018. On other hand, I also have a 2010 R15 with 200 thousand kilometers on odo, still running like new without any problems(except for rattling in fairing at high RPMs). For a bike that had done over 50k it still felt really sharp and the control and handling I couldn't fault. ❤👍
