I found out they do not include instructions on how to put the battery or microSD card in with the phone. You have to go to their site to find out!

Thank you for addressing the 'battery' issue. I had this issue also - didn't know how to access the battery compartment.
The .pdf owners web guide was NOT. helpful. I watched too many other unboxing videos attempting to learn how, but everyone just focused on what the box contained and then went directly into the phone features.
After viewing your video - WALA - I was able to open up the back of the phone immediately (finally).

I can certainly sympathize with your frustrations! I don't have this phone myself, but as a tech support guy for a computer firmI have to deal with this type of thing all the time! With my clients either purchasing a smart phone for the first time or upgrading to a new one; I have to coax them through much of the same situations.
I hope you enjoy the phone after all the crazyness of getting it set up.

Just checked out a few other features on your phone... I like the voice recognition option... if you hold the phone button down for a few seconds you can then enter a voice command that you have programed into it.; like "call Jim" and it would call the number specified. Nice.

@ACRROCKS THANKS. I have made some good videos and made a number that suck. But nice to hear that people like some of them. I think I am getting better. I should delete some of the bad ones but I find it hard to do for some reason. I think the reason it is so hard to kill them is that they are sort of a part of my life and I remember where it was made and how. Sort of nice to go back and see my old room etc.
@hnbbs it does take a HC microSD card. mine works
lol I had a hard time figuring out how to put the battery in my LG Optimus V. The manual didn't tell me exactly, but figured I had to open the SD card slot and pull it there. Maybe its an LG thing.

I'm getting that phone and I have watched like a hundred videos about this phone but none of them actually informed people about how the phone is other than the apps and whatever. LOL! Great review. I enjoy your "out-of-box, here's what happened" style of journalism. Let us know if it was hassle to switch down to the $25 from $40 a month plan, if that's what you're going to do. If I buy one, I'll use your kickback code.
@theden0minat0r Yes, for a few days I was thinking that I had to "program" the voice command. Then I found all I had to do was hold the button down and give the command. That is nice.
The voice command is one of the nicest features of the phone.

@nfarnham2008 Yes, it is done when a person activates a phone. But it can be any phone with Virgin Mobile. It does not have to be just the Touch.
@Hdancer97 The features are good. You just have to not expect it to be a iPhone. For $150.00 you can get a good phone and for $25.00 a month you have unlimited data. That is a good deal.
the number is on the box too so if you had the box it will tell you and you could of let them activate the phone for you at best buy it is free and you would of walk out working and they would of told you how to use the phone.

@integraltheory Thanks for the comment. I am going to switch to the $25.00 plan here soon. My plan due date is the 24th so I am not going to pay and I think they will kick me to the pay as you go plan. Then on the 1st I will pay $25.00 and I hope that will start up the $25.00 plan each month. I want to start it on the 1st because I get some money each month on the 1st. Jim
@ACRROCKS I have had a LOT of computers over the years. My first computer was in 1978. But I have never had any Apple computer. I think a Macbook would be great. It is out of my price range.
I am sure a lot of Apple and Macbook fans will reply to your question here.
@elliottc760 Yes as far as I can tell it is excellent. It is rare for me to use the phone. One month I did use 160 minutes. That was the time I was in the hospital for a couple of days. But if I use 10 minutes a month that is a lot.
So I have not had any problems. My guess is that it might depend on where you live also. I love in west Fort Worth (TX).
I will be getting their Samsung Intercept in a couple of days. I will be doing a video on it.

@ashesoftheinnocent Yes, I do not know about you but I was pushing very hard. I am very surprised I did not break it. Some people are commenting that I should have read the manual. How to open the phone is not in the manual. Some others have commented that with the phone working you can get the information! I have heard of smart phones but working without a battery would be pretty dam smart.
I can't figure out how to take pictures with mine . I have a loft it has a short cut to use the camera.

I switched from the $40.00 a month plan to the $25.00 a month plan. I still have unlimited data but with the $25.00 a month plan I have 300 minutes of phone calls. It is rare for me to use the phone. I do no think I use it 30 minutes a month.
I am not using the data at all but I like knowing that I can do it if I need to access the Internet. If we use power in a storm or if I am out and need to look something up I could try getting access to the info.
@hnbbs I might switch to them for this plan ATT sucks for stuff like that, and 300 minutes is more than enough.

nice review, i have a couple questions. is there picture messaging with this phone? and with the $25 plan a month does that include unlimited texting, picture messaging, and internet, with 300 minutes?
@emortland Well that kickback code works for activating ANY phone with them.
My renew date is the 24th but I don't have the $25.00 to pay then. So I am going to let them kick me to the PayAsYouGo plan and then on the 1st swtich to the $25.00 plan. That way I will have to pay on the 1st of each month and I get a few dollars on the 1st each month. I will let you know how it works out.
@chellep73 I love the Intercept. Sure I wish it was top of the line but hell $25.00 a month for a very good android phone and unlimited data. Battery life sort of sucks but everyone has problems with battery life. In a few days VM is going to upgrade to android 2.2 and I think that will help with battery life and a few other things.
Yes, I gave my Touch to my grandson.
AND the back of the Intercept is super easy to get off! Smile
@chellealwayz911 That was just the cell phone and taxes. I then went home and signed up with the $40.00 a month plan. I am going to change next month to the $25.00 a month plan.
They should really make it easier to take the back cover off. It always takes mw such a long time to take it off.
All you need to do to open the back is to push the bottom of the back where there is an arrow pointing UP!!!! It takes maybe a total of one and a half seconds. Sorry if this bursts your bubble, of complaining and not being able to see. Oh, and by the way like everybody else has said, THE SERIAL NUMBER IS ON THE BOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@bobbybnfatcat No you just get the number of phone minutes that you sign up for and I think the $25.00 a month is 300 minutes. The $40.00 is 1200 minutes BUT with all the plans all the data is unlimited.
@awesomeshmavo32 I think there is picture messaging but I never even text so never tried it.
But yes.. data is unlimited and has nothing to do with your minutes. BUT one thing to watch our for...
International texting cost an arm and a leg. It is more than calling voice international and you have to top up with extra money for international texting.
By the way I gave my Touch to my grandson. I now have the VM Samsung Intercept. If you can go an extra $100.00 I recommend it.
@hnbbs yea i was thinking that as i was, im 22. so i figured my eyes while not better, were able to read due to age or whatever. i dont have 20/20 vision so dont get me wrong.

@icpn311 I think you will like the phone. The $25.00 a month is great. To have unlimited data at that price is great. Great on the Kickback code. You will be number six that has used the Kickback code.
They give me the 60 minutes for each and it looks like they carry it over witch is good since I never even use my 300 minutes.
What I wonder about is if I had the unlimited minutes how they work the Kickback. I am guessing they would give me a $20.00 credit on my bill for each one.

Nice mouth! If you look at the back of the phone you can see which way the back slides open - there's an arrow. Yes it's snug but better that than too loose and falling off!

@nene49er19 You are correct. For $25.00 a month you get unlimited everything except for voice calls and you get 300 minutes with the $25.00 plan. Pretty good deal.

I think you got all the info you need. It is a flat $25.00 and that gives you 300 minutes and unlimited data.
It is not a smart phone but it also does not cost you $80.00 a month for the service.
I like that the $25.00 is without extra taxes ..except I pay by credit card and they charge a couple bucks for that.

@cjh1618 Thanks for the comment. That code will be good for any Virgin Mobile phone. The comments that people leave all over TH-cam are bad. Everyone gets them. I get them about being old..Like I don't know I am old? One guy that does some great videos gets comments about being fat. There again ..I think if you are 550 pounds you know you are fat and don't need to be told.

I have on order a Samsung Intercept. I should have it in 3 to 5 days. I will be using it on Virgin Mobile. So I will still only be paying $25.00 a month and I will have 300 calls a month and unlimited data.
I will have 3G and it is a smart android phone.

@arruelastefany Let me think. I think it is only $25.00 except if you use a credit card to pay they have a small fee or something if you pay by credit card.
Yes.. for $25.00 a month you get unlimited data. So you have unlimited web access for only $25.00 a month. Pretty good deal.

@youngbdcrazy Not sure what you mean by theme..But I do not think anything iPhone is going to work with this phone. This is a basic neat phone. Good price at $25.00 a month for 300 minutes with unlimited data. But if you want to use it like an iPhone or make it look like one.. I do not think this is the phone for you.

@chikiwings I use Skype on my home computer. I have not attempted to install on the LG Rumor Touch. I suspect it would not work.

@elliottc760 As I understand it... If you put in my code we got get 60 minutes of extra minutes. So I have the $25.00 plan and get 300 minutes. If you buy a phone and sign up with Virgin Mobile and put in my code. You would have 60 minutes added to your total of minutes and I would have 60 added. So for that month I would have 360 minutes. I never use the phone for voice calls so it does not matter much to me. But it is a nice deal. It is good for both of us.

You do know the iPhone 4 drops today, right? :) Not that they're gonna send it to me on time or anything, I've got to wait until freakin' July 15th!!!! Totally insane fake shortages. I've had LG's in the past, accessing the batteries on any of them is a joke. I had to take mine back to the Verizon store and get them to open it. I hate LG's phones, they're all pretty crappy designs.

@estevanruvalcaba Yes a very good phone for the price of the phone and for the service you are getting with Virgin Mobile. Now it is not a "smart" phone ...You are not getting a cheap iPhone. So you just need to know what you are getting. This review and others will let you know. Again it is not a smart phone.
