I think he was a perfect fit as a backup for Ayton while he learns how to play in the NBA. I was very surprised that his shooting form looks so good, considering he wasn't really a shooter at UConn; our team is not going to be good this year, but I am super excited to see how Deni and Clingan play with the rest of the young core.
About the only thing I’m concerned about is that he seems to have a history of being somewhat prone to injury. I think he could be good. At the least starting center level good and maybe even all star good at best. We shall see
As long as he stays healthy Portland fans are going ot be very happy having him as their center. I think at minimum he will be a guy who puts up 15/12/3 per game when he develops into what hes going to be. If he really becomes a high skill offensive player who can also shoot the ball consistently, with his passing ability and high iq he then becomes a poor mans version of Jokic. I dont think he gets to that level but becomes a similar player putting up 22/12/3/7 per game.
He wouldn’t have been at UConn if he didn’t have a Winning mentality and do what the team needs attitude.. 7 was the right spot and UConn fans are glad he is on a team his play fits and wasn’t drafted by Charlotte thankfully.
Donovan already has such knowledge of the game and just needs to adjust to NBA speed and athleticism. So many dudes come into the league and have to figure out basic schemes and sets- even though they can jump out of the gym. Should be a lot more fun to watch this core develop than the mess of last year. It is going to be tough to win as the West is loaded again, so not too worried about being in the lottery again.
Centers are unfortunately cursed in Portland, either get hurt like greg, Zach Collins and nurk, who came back never quite the same, or don’t work out like meyers Leonard. This is not wishing ill on him but I wish a different team had drafted him
Centers seem to be somewhat fragile generally, what with all the banging and pushing and goings on around the hoop. If I was that big i would commit coming in to acquiring overall super fitness and adding muscle up to the limits that my speed could bear, and maintain a very solid core. That’s a big job that includes a measured diet balance too. Look what that has done for LaBron. That will minimize chances for injury and from there you just hope for dumb luck i would guess. His odds would then be as good in Portland as anywhere. I’m psyched for this season. I have enjoyed watching these guys develop these last years which surprised me at first. Fan since ‘76.
I recall watching the PKI in 2023 when Clingan was a freshman coming off the bench. Bill Walton was doing color commentary and he raved about Clingan. Who knows? You may be right.
Going to be a problem... for the Blazers. Waste of a pick. Hes got the knees of a baby giraffe.. barely has the strength to finish through players he outweighs by 50 lbs. Cant dunk unless hes under the rim because hes got no vertical and his legs nearly give out when landing from jumps or trying to change direction. This is a disaster of a pick. When teams worked him out, and he started falling, and when edey worked out for teams and his stock started rising the blazers should have taken it as a sign. We drafted him for hype when Edey was easily the better choice. Wont be quite as painful as Bowie over Jordan or Oden over durant.. but this will go down as one of the worst lottery picks for the Blazers of all time

I agree! Everyone saying trade Ayton but I love Clingan as a backup this year and see if he's ready to become the starter next season
If he can overcome the Portland injury curse of 1st round centers he'll be fine
The curse is over. RIP Bill!
@@notup2nuthin ... Let's hope so but what about Bowie and Oden?
Why you gotta bring that up?
Keep going !!! Him getting 💎💎💎from Deni Avdija. That’s a pair!!! Keep rocking and building the channel up❤
Thank you so much! Very excited to watch Deni and Clingan play together!
I really want to see a lineup of Scoot, Shaedon, Deni, DA and Clingan at some point
Starting lineup will probably be Ant, Shaedon, Deni, Grant and Ayton to start the year. But I think we eventually trade Ant
DA and Clingan lineup would be crazy, but I would love to see it!
He fits the drop that billups likes to play aswell
Blazers in Clingan and Avdija quietly added lots of secondary playmaking and defence to their game. Good additions.
About the only thing I’m concerned about is that he seems to have a history of being somewhat prone to injury. I think he could be good. At the least starting center level good and maybe even all star good at best. We shall see
Bro needs to work on free throw percentage

He’s got great hands for a big.
Everyone who thinks Edey was “too slow” needs to take a look at the Combine results vs Clingan 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Yes cause a good combine trumps everything theyve shown and done in college

How do you think Deni will fit in w the team?
I think Deni fits PERFECT with this team. He's the versitle, defensive, smart forward this team has been missing since 2018-2019 season
Made DA can help him develop a mid range game
And Clingan can convince DA to shoot more 3's 🤣
Centers are unfortunately cursed in Portland, either get hurt like greg, Zach Collins and nurk, who came back never quite the same, or don’t work out like meyers Leonard. This is not wishing ill on him but I wish a different team had drafted him
Don't say that, haha! Meyers walked, so Zach could run, so Clingan can fly! 😂🔥

He has a decent skill set, just needs to get stronger.
Agreed
I wonder if walker Kessler is a good comparison to him?
I would say that’s a pretty solid comparison. Clingan shoots really well in practice so I’d love to see him start shooting in games
That would be awesome!!!
I see a better defender and passer in Clingan. But Kessler is the minimum for what Clingan will become imo
@@pnwdevv im just trying to invision and picture who we can compare his game to
I love this copium #LFG #DOMINANCE #SHARPESCOOTER #SCOOTHENDERSONFINALSMVP
doubtful, looong ways to go. If he is still here for his first contract outside of the rookie scale, we shall see.
Don't see a world he doesnt get a solid 2nd contract unless (God forbid) injuries
The New Bill Walton?
I recall watching the PKI in 2023 when Clingan was a freshman coming off the bench. Bill Walton was doing color commentary and he raved about Clingan. Who knows? You may be right.
Some big shoes to fill. RIP bill
Gonna look like a really mistake taking Clingan over Edey
😂

There is a down side! It will be much more difficult to tank for Cooper Flagg😮
😭🙏🏽
Bro wasn't a problem when he was rumored to go 1st overall to the Atlanta Hawks 💀
FACTS! Blazers literally got an arguable #1 overall pick with the 7th pick. Underrated already and the season hasn't started yet.
Andrew Bynum style player maybe?
Bill Walton comp
Could definitely see that. Solid defender and right around that 15/10 average on a night to night basis
Blazer fans think Clingan will become the next Jokic. Portland fans also still believe Sam Bowie had more upside then Michael Jordan.
nobody thinks hes going to be jokic bud 😭
I know not a single fan thinks he will be Jokic lol. Lycky if even sees his first contract here, but don't be silly.
A big Dennis Rodman would be a huge win❤

Hey dont blame the fans for that Bowie mistake, they had nothing to do with that horrific decision.
