      You'll love the dry season - but you lived here before ages ago, lmk if you'd like to grab a beer sometime

      I remember my favourite time before was around Feb, dry but still not too hot. Would be great to grab a beer sometime, drop me an email and we can sort it out.

    Da Nang is an excellent choice to relocate from Saigon or Hanoi. 10 times smaller, beach, and proximity to Hue. Smart move!
    Cheers.

    17C? I'm in Salt Lake City where it's 17F.
    I fell in love with Da Nang on my first night there. A motorcycle convoy across the dragon bridge , the pavement wet from rain, reflecting the lights.
    I prefer the sea breezes and fresh air to the closeness and exhaust fumes of Saigon.

      Obesity is creeping in for sure but not to a huge degree. Western movie and TV culture and the often kinda warped reality/perception of stuff that brings.

    air quality wise, danang is much better for your long term health but you will miss all the stuffs/conveniences that saigon has to offer.

    Glad to hear your new place is in Da Nang! Hope you find a reasonably priced home soon. Without a home address, where did you send all your belongings? I hope the weather heats up soon. I wasn't preparing for 17' weather. I was hoping for 25' +. Haha

    • @expatnam

      I've got a good friend here with a house so i sent it to him. It's a huge difference in temperature/climate after Saigon, especially in the evenings. I wasn't really prepared for it!

    Where my sister passed away in September. Still do not know what really happened to her. She liked the people and the food. They lived in a house with a gated court yard. Her expat husband and child are still there.

    How is about Vietnamese visa?
    Do you have to leave or stay every 6 months or what?

    Nearly all of the markets don't have sitting toilets as I had been there in 2015
    I don't particularly like squatting toilets they are not comfortable

    • @expatnam

      Never used a market toilet before, but can't imagine they're good. One thing vietnam lacks is public toilets

    air BNB or serviced apartment for a couple months while finding a nicer long term place.. good luck with it... Danang is great.. much nicer being by the sea and slightly fresher air than SGN by memory... just as noisy it seems but I dont there is anywhere 'Quiet' in VN lol still.. better than being in UK!!!

    • @expatnam
      @expatnam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the plan now-at least most places seem more open to 1-3 month stays now as the majority of people here are on shorter visas it seems. It's certainly more noisy than i remember, lots more karaoke up here and construction. Oh well, onwards and upwards!

    • @markholland6657
      @markholland6657 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@expatnam there was a few big construction projects just starting along the beach front when I was there... fingers crossed there will be the much awaited change in visa regs after Tet.. then will see how long I come back for.. otherwise it will be Thailand.. see ya next yr for a few beers in Danang..

      Most of those seemed to have stalled for now. There's these huge empty shells littering the seafront, almost a bit eerie. Lots of construction around but only smaller projects it seems. The big hotel projects not yet back in the game.
