    I love this technique... , it's way easier than the iron on way using cereal box bags!! Just a word of advice though..., use hot water (rather than warm), and your image will usually slide right off!! No rubbing necessary!

    This is wonderful! I wonder how they would look attached to acetate? Now with that thought of Acetate I am also wondering if the sticky laminating sheets would work, I am referring to the type you peel off the paper backing, then you can attach the backing if it works and have a solid piece when complete. Also would love to try newspaper print and not just the black and white but the colored imagery. Thanks for the creative spring boarding !

      Hello! I am so happy you are full of awesome ideas. Let me know how the newspaper works...I'm intrigued.
      Good luck and have fun experimenting.

    Fran - I love the idea of these transfers, but what side is the outside and how does one adhere them to the journal. I know with the matte medium the reverse side the one to use. Is this the same?

    • @stellarjstudios
      @stellarjstudios  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, this is not the reverse image. This technique simply lifts the ink off the paper and onto the sticky side of the tape. I use a glue stick to add extra stick to that side.

    this is fun, thanks for sharing Gina! How did you transfer your cute children's pictures? as I understood, it doesn't work with photo paper or home printed, so how did Gina do? 😁

      Mustard Seed Hi! So...many moons ago I spent an afternoon at a copy machine store (kinkos) and I copied a whole stack of pics onto plain paper. I think it cost about 10 cents a sheet for black and white copies. Well worth the money.
      Thanks for asking. Hope this gives you some great ideas.

    I've put matte medium over packing tape when the shine bothers me. I've had great luck with magazine transfers!

      PS: I don't think your Little House tape was soaked long enough! I could see the whiter, drier spots.

    I tried this technique and for me it worked with most things other than jet-link (printer) but mono-printing is fine. I also tried a book page which I had painted on and by some miracle the paint stayed on but you had to be careful about how much paper you rub off on the parts that are painted. Also, use thicker paint, not watery but the water will just destroy it.

    Is there any risk of unhealthy chemicals coming off from old books or certain kinds of paper/ink?

  • @auntiesash
    @auntiesash 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks like you can be pretty aggressive in removing the paper. Does the toner move or smear? Or does it stay put pretty well??

    • @stellarjstudios
      @stellarjstudios  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      auntiesash Hi. The toner will not budge. However, I have rubbed so hard that the sticky came off. 😳. It's a pretty fool-proof project.
      Have fun!

      TheReBookery I've done the mylar transfer, where the toner acts as a heat bond to transfer the metallic. I'm excited to try this effect!

    if you flip the corner of the roll of tape it makes it soo much easier to get it off the roll next time!!

    • @stellarjstudios
      @stellarjstudios  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip. I always think about that after I've thrown the tape down.
      Oh well, maybe some day I'll learn.
