You were shit... Only kidding NN, you do great stuff on this here TH-cam. Your 'history of' vids are exceptional, really well researched and presented to the same degree. Long may they (and your other vids) continue. YT collaborations are great, seeing Mr. Biffo doing the rounds is a good thing, and Octav1usKitten is really doing good stuff too. That Ashens though, unsure, seems a bit of a seedy character. Thank you all for the entertainment :)
In that order; "Pop Quiz Hotshot" (no I'm not joking) $90,000, that's 90 THOUSAND dollars. A once A-List internet celebrity, now defunked D list clown who thinks that he's Steven Fucking Spielberg.
Hang on "Camera: Izzie Jones, Sound: Chris Bullock, Editor: Linton Davies, Production assistant: Paul Gannon" Is this just a bonus barshens episode disguised as an ashens video? Edit: there's even a carpets: bono credit
This is wonderful, I'd like to see more of it, it's all great, but also I would like to say that I found it hilarious that Mr Biffo answered the question on Google Buzz by repeatedly asking if he could buzz in, and then completely failing the question. I thought he was being snarky and rubbing it in!
Stuart's brand of abstract comedy works wonders for a format like this. Paul Gannon mentioned how he had grown a bit bored and desensitized with the repetitive monotony of his sofa review format...shit like this beats what most youtubers opt for (celebrity product reviews, mimicking other formats) anyday
I *loved* this video. Please make more! The US version of _Blockbusters_ (essentially the same show) has been rerun frequently in recent years, so Americans are familiar with it too.
My daughter wiped my N64 Goldeneye 100% complete save file. All four copies of it. Turns out that's not actually enough to have a child taken in to care. I feel so failed by the system. Also: that second round was legitimately one of the best rounds of Blockbuster to have ever happened.
Yes, it was a radio play of Moonraker (I think) but it was before the movies started. Technically there is an American who did Casino Royale first but he played 'Jimmy Bond' and as the character isn't American and is never known as Jimmy in the books/movies that doesn't count.
Mr. Biffo's Found Footage is one of my favorite things on the internet right now, and I'd love to see what a mind like that produces as a proper gaming show.
I've been watching a lot of Octav1us Kitten recently and am delighted to see her collaborating with Ashens, one of my favourite TH-camrs. Long may they both flourish and say odd things about computers on the Internet.
This is exactly the type of content that should be on Digitiser The Show! You could even do a tournament between each of the presenters to see who is the Digitiser The Show Blockbusters Champion! This just validates my pledge to the kickstarter by a long way! Awesome Nostalgia! ^__^
I hoped this video would have you stood inside a now extinct Blockbusters store doing a nostalgia review of it in all its glory. Alas, it was not. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Love you tho x
There is 1 Blockbuster surviving in America IIRC. Sadly none survived in the UK. Ah I miss that job, Assistant Manager at a tiny little Blockbuster where we were lucky if we made £75 a day in takings, spent most of the time with a portable DVD player behind the desk and watched films (you weren't suppose to do that but our Area Manager turned up once every six months). It was a lazy mans dream job. I mean yeah the writing was on the wall at least for that store, our takings had become piss poor in the last 3 years of business (I can remember when it was actually busy) but we didn't expect the entire company to fold and had to find out through second hand means that the company had gone into administration.
Well done to the camera crew after realizing that they had a shot right up Octavia's skirt they kept on the wide shot until they refocused. Nice job on the fly!
A Nerd who is Nostalgic pulled off a pretty good comeback there. Anyway, it was fun to see you folks all together. The only one of these I don't already watch is Paul and frankly, it sounds like his channel is my kind of thing. I'll have to check it out!
That was fun, having an old show like this with more modern questions in my specialty. I hope that doing a retro game show like this becomes an April 1 tradition, even if not this particular one.
Great episode! I'd love to see more of this format. Maybe a tournament? Really, this was very good. And not just because I knew most of the answers so it made me feel all smart and special.
LazyJackal won't be feeling so lazy after he gets that E down him, let's get the fuckin party started. I'll get the gum and water, you get the diffraction glasses and equaliser shirt.
the a quick game of bullseye (1 for jim ) to end the night,.,, as the budget mite be a bit blow after the other games & im sure some of the bullseye prizes would be pretty cheap these days :P
Drunken Master pshaw, I have so many gaming PC parts in my house I could build another house, and that house would be able to play everything ever made in 4k and at least 60fps.
Eh, some were easy, some were less so. I got most of them, but I think it would depend on where your interests lie. I wouldn't have been able to get the Minecraft one if you gave me a hundred years.
+CallOfTheBrain That's true but then they were also aimed at teens, not adults and they give you the first letter of the answer which narrows it down a lot.
why is ashens not actually hosting something on TV? he's a natural.
Thomas Jenkins
I know right? He could replace Carr nominally.
Because he looks like a serial killer
Renegade187, serial killer, really? Annoyed pharmacist at best. I can _totally_ see him working in Boots.
Jimmy Carr or Alan Carr?
He can't be on telly as he's not Ant or Dec, Mel or Sue.
Hang on I heard there's an opening, he doesn't drive a Mini does he?
Stuart is a natural game show host.
Then there would be no more tat sofa. He'd be superior and snotty, and leave youtube behind
He has done Mainstream TV stuff before for both the BBC and Channel 4.
You'll see him one day doing the bingo in Essex
He's totally perfect for it. He could do a game show like once a week on a different channel and I would watch every single one.
The BBC needs to hire him, again!
I'd actually love to see this as a series, not even joking.
Yea, I second that
Third from me
Fourthed
5th
Sixth!
Absolutely devastated I didn't get a chance to ask for a P please Bob.
Nostalgia Nerd what happend on the gold run you mind went blank or something?
Anthony Barratt For a couple of them, yeah. For the others, I just didn't know.
Nostalgia Nerd you really need to play more games but you tried the gold run is never that easy
I expected a more stellar performance from you Peter, but having in mind that it was a handicap match, you did really well
That's Numberwang!! Wait, wrong show.
¡Das Nümbervang
Occasionally I rewatch this video just for the theme
That moment when a show with obviously 0 budget is better than the one the nostalgia critic made with 90k.
What show? 90k? Who's the nostalgia critic.
In that order; "Pop Quiz Hotshot" (no I'm not joking) $90,000, that's 90 THOUSAND dollars. A once A-List internet celebrity, now defunked D list clown who thinks that he's Steven Fucking Spielberg.
You must be fun at parties
I anticipated finding a Nostalgia Critic-related comment in regards to this, and I was not disappointed. Yes, Ashens did make a better gameshow vid.
To be fair, this is a preestablished format. Blockbusters is massive part of UK culture, for some bloody reason.
Please make this a regular series. Thanks.
Super Smash Bros. Mario for Nintendo Switch confirmed.
BeaverInABlender I was really hoping someone would answer "MELEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Hang on "Camera: Izzie Jones, Sound: Chris Bullock, Editor: Linton Davies, Production assistant: Paul Gannon" Is this just a bonus barshens episode disguised as an ashens video?
Edit: there's even a carpets: bono credit
It's even in the same place! Why isn't this a Barshens episode?
Biffo is Eli's dad
That second round is exactly why Blockbusters was such a thrilling show.
Wow, give Stuart his own game show. Great job hosting.
This is basically Barshens does Blockbusters without Barry. The intro song took me back to the days when tv wasn't crap and full of reality shows :-)
Yes, the 90s were good. TV and music was decent and the great people hadn't died. So many great musicians and other famous people died in 2017/18.
I don't get why this isn't a Barshens episode, honestly. You can even hear Gannon in the background!
I really hope that we somehow get more of these! This was fascinatingly hilarious!
Winning on an Amstrad question. love it
This was so good I felt compelled to leave a message. More please. Ashens has captured the spirit of Bob.
No literally though, he’s just really good.
Warframe isn't a first person shooter tho
I think he thought he said Warface
Whichever is the Crytek one is.
Warthunder would have been correct
That's what I thought too. REDO THE WHOLE CONTEST!
But in the end it doesn't matter cause he didn't win.
RAAAHHH!
Holy crap hearing that music transported me back to school, when blockbusters used to air after CITV
Yes, I used to go up to my room and "do my homework", that is, put the TV on and watch Blockbusters.
This is wonderful, I'd like to see more of it, it's all great, but also I would like to say that I found it hilarious that Mr Biffo answered the question on Google Buzz by repeatedly asking if he could buzz in, and then completely failing the question. I thought he was being snarky and rubbing it in!
I can't believe it's took me this long to get round to seeing this.
An excellent game show
This was an absolute treat to watch and play along with. I would totally watch like 17 more of these
Stuart if youre going to branch out please let it be with videos like this, this was awesome
He does a lot of similar style of things to this already on the Barshens channel.
He doesn't host classic game shows on Barshens though. I would watch a whole series of blockbuster if Stuart Ashen was presenting.
That retro style intro... Love it !
C. M. Anderson He always gets the best music.
I want an mp3 of it!
the documentaries from Nostalgia Nerd are really well done, nice to see him around Ashens too
I'm truly impressed by the effort put into properly rendering the intro and music. I keep coming back to rewatch the intro because it's so satisfying!
More of this. More game shows awarded/gifted to TH-camrs. It's so much fun.
Dr. A definitely knows about Double Dragon, having famously stored the fuckin' thing in his oven that time
I *loved* this video. Please make more! The US version of _Blockbusters_ (essentially the same show) has been rerun frequently in recent years, so Americans are familiar with it too.
I am not gonna lie that is like, still one of the best opening songs for a game show.
Oh god, Barshens is expanding onto their original channels. HAVE WE GONE TOO FAR?
Oh man, I absolutely loved this. You should totes make this a regular feature on your channel Mr Ashens.
My daughter wiped my N64 Goldeneye 100% complete save file. All four copies of it.
Turns out that's not actually enough to have a child taken in to care. I feel so failed by the system.
Also: that second round was legitimately one of the best rounds of Blockbuster to have ever happened.
Man, that theme tune gets you pumped.
Oh and for ppl do not know: Diablo 2 LOD was "Lord of Destruction"
I would genuinely watch this show regularly. Make it happen, I beg you. Unlike TV quizzes I can actually shout at the screen for this!
It's great to see octavius kitten in the lime light!
This would make a great series for us gaming people! More, please!
Loved that intro
This was amazing and thoroughly nostalgic - would love to see this as a regular show - please make it happen!
Copyright probably keeps us from doing this too regularly!
Theme choon gives me the goosebumps 😁😁
Well well look at the cast of stars! I'm happy to see the nostalgia nerd link up continue.
I miss this show. This was such a good show.
A guy who lived over the road from me was on Blockbusters! Plus awesome seeing Octavias Kitten is always good!
R.I.P Bob holness
I met him once (briefly) and he was really nice and great. Also fun fact: He was the first person to play James Bond.
lwaves really?
Yes, it was a radio play of Moonraker (I think) but it was before the movies started.
Technically there is an American who did Casino Royale first but he played 'Jimmy Bond' and as the character isn't American and is never known as Jimmy in the books/movies that doesn't count.
Adam Bichr and their was Michael asshole, Lisa Tarbuck and Simon mayonnaise
@@Dim4323 And Dara O'Brien!

Man ashens is so charismatic!
This is so awesome! More of these would be SO great, especially with the Barshens crew!
omfg this needs to become a regular thing....
focus is all to shit though. :(
Please make this a series. Absolutely fantastic!
Blockbusters was by far my favourite 80's gameshow about hexagons, presented by Bob Holness then revived poorly by Simon Mayo.
Simon Mayo's version is fine. It's not as good but it's fine.
This was a lot of fun to watch and play along with; we need more, Stuart!
I want Eli on my team
Harry Burke Probably because you forgot to bring noodles.
Christ knows how I missed this - its BRILLIANT! Shared it now
I hoped this video would have you stood inside a now extinct Blockbusters store doing a nostalgia review of it in all its glory.
Alas, it was not. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Love you tho x
danhjnny Reviewbrah will be pleased
Meanwhile my nostalgia for the Blockbusters which was more popular in the UK has made my day.
even better would have been to do in one of the last 11 blockbusters still surviving(there all in Alaska)
Alaska has the last 11 survive because internet streaming costs so much renting dvds is the only affordable way
Well done to the camera crew after realizing that they had a shot right up Octavia's skirt they kept on the wide shot until they refocused. Nice job on the fly!
Yeah... I had to see if anyone else commented. Absolutely Sublime.
I hear a Gannon! Great show.
Absolutely great to watch. Please make this a series
Waaaaarrrrfraaaaamm
That question was actually wrong, Warframe's third person not first person
The proper answer was warface
This is why we do research so we don’t embarrass ourselves on the internet forever.
I heard Warface
I agree with others. You should most definitely turn this into a series. Maybe even incorporate it into Barshens. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I could go for a real series of this hosted by Ashens
Great to see, big fan of Nostalgia Nerd and of course Ashens and can’t wait for Digitiser the Show
More
I need more of this!
So this more please
Oh god please!
Steve! Please!
I want more of this show.
A Nerd who is Nostalgic pulled off a pretty good comeback there. Anyway, it was fun to see you folks all together. The only one of these I don't already watch is Paul and frankly, it sounds like his channel is my kind of thing. I'll have to check it out!
I'm starting to think that all of the UK's TH-camrs live in the same building.
Sherbert's World of Schlock only the you tubers that don't get much money from the ads
Well, they sort of do. This was done in the TH-cam Space in London, where TONS of stuff is filmed.
That was fun, having an old show like this with more modern questions in my specialty. I hope that doing a retro game show like this becomes an April 1 tradition, even if not this particular one.
"I'll pick the L, stuart."
"What is the name of Mario's green-clothed brother whose name starts with L?"
"Uhhh..."
More please Stuart! I'd watch many more episodes of this!
Love all the guests on the panel.
This is really well done. I don't know why it didn't get more attention at the time, I'd love to see more.
Ok who chose that camera angle ? Was it Eli ??
I don’t know, but I had a good fap.. so not complaining
Great episode! I'd love to see more of this format. Maybe a tournament? Really, this was very good. And not just because I knew most of the answers so it made me feel all smart and special.
Oh my God I was answering most of these too
This is the first time in several years a gameshow has had me yelling at the screen. Well played Stewart.
Shpuld have ended on the famous blockbusters hand jive
This was thoroughly enjoyable! More, please.
i'll have an E please Bob
LazyJackal won't be feeling so lazy after he gets that E down him, let's get the fuckin party started. I'll get the gum and water, you get the diffraction glasses and equaliser shirt.
4 of my favourite TH-camrs, playing my favourite old gameshow. Sold!
a game of knightmaire next :P
Yes!
Yes, seconded. I used to love that game, watched it every week.
"It's Been Done"
the a quick game of bullseye (1 for jim ) to end the night,.,, as the budget mite be a bit blow after the other games & im sure some of the bullseye prizes would be pretty cheap these days :P
Seriously the best video you have ever made!!!!! Please make this into a series with other youtubers. THAT WOULD BE INCREDIBLE!!!!!!
Wow, these questions are too easy.
This is great. Would love to see more like this, please.
... please tell me this will be a series!!!
Thoroughly enjoyable I hope you can create another Blockbusters episode.
It hurts how the "Retro Guy" do not know much about retro
This was genuinely a fun video
I'd watch this if this was a long running series!
Wait, there are people in the world that don't know Bloodborne?
Also, this was great. More please, or maybe rip off other retro game shows.
Console peasant!
Drunken Master pshaw, I have so many gaming PC parts in my house I could build another house, and that house would be able to play everything ever made in 4k and at least 60fps.
Rather be a console peasent than a PC gamer unable to play Bloodborne.
I'd rather be a PC gamer playing grand strategy than shitty action made for sub bricks
Bloodborne is fucking great, you heathen.
I'm crying of how beautiful this was! :)
Is the April Fool's joke that nobody knows these obvious questions?
NICKREAPER316 Obvious questions? You knew what was going to be asked then did you? 😉
Eh, some were easy, some were less so. I got most of them, but I think it would depend on where your interests lie. I wouldn't have been able to get the Minecraft one if you gave me a hundred years.
Nobody? Did you watch the same video as I did?
The questions on blockbusters have never been especially difficult, not that I got all of these ones.
+CallOfTheBrain That's true but then they were also aimed at teens, not adults and they give you the first letter of the answer which narrows it down a lot.
So glad you are giving Bono some credit here too
Can I have a P please, Stu?
You need to do more of these, this was brilliant.
eggcellent
I love the fact that they have relaunched the show blockbusters this year.
Warframe is 3rd not 1st person...
Good to see that Bono does the carpets for Ashens as well. That boy is living the life.
Can we get Guru Larry on the next episode?
Pradeep Kanchan Good call!
Please do more of these. This was great.
