Nice video, Enjoyed watching the construction of 2m yagi After 30yrs of hamming Im coming back to 2m and planning to build a yagi for SSB operation Thanks, John KR6BJ
Awesome, I have been interested in a portable lightweight yagi and have been thinking of building something so this is a great idea! Thanks for the video! 73’s
Thank you for the comment , make it easy on yourself and use some square tubing for the boom. Amazon has some yard sign stakes that would work. I'll post on the video for you. 73
Awesome Work, recently got my tech been a hiker/backpacker since i was a kid and im excited to add radio into the mix. Also very nice Toyota you got there
Congrats on your Tech., that antenna and a J-pole should get you some contacts at home and on the trail. Check out my J-pole build it's a easy way to improve on a rubber duck antenna!
Got to love the directional antenna. I've busted so many pile-ups on 10, 15, and 20 meters with the Mosley. Making a 2 meter yagi looks like a fun project. Maybe even do some fox hunting, or add a 73cm component and do satellite work. Man, you insoired me to get creative. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on antenna modeling software.
Chris I have a ta33 and even at 10' testing it was amazing. I have never had a pileup on 2m until using this antenna on a POTA. This is a fun antenna to make use square tubing to mak it easier, thanks for the comment and for taking the time to watch!
Chuck! Awesome antenna, and you are a bad influence, lol. I made one from aluminium rod I picked up at Ace and some 3D printed parts. I used a ganna match I copied from somewhere. Yours and Adams are way slicker! You guys are keeping my local harware store in business. Keep making these videos; they keep me inspired. Good to see you 73 de Bill. ps - what pole is that, and how far up is it?
Did you manage to reuse the arrows for anything? Perhaps you can mount them into a tube so the outside conducts. Is there an explanation as to why the 1st director is so close to the driven element? Thanks
Mimi Heaven , Yes For FM vertical and SSB horizontal, the antenna covers both parts of the band with swr at 147.0 1.0:1 to 1.3:1 at 144.0. The day I test I had contacts up to 100 miles with the antenna at about 10' or less most of the time. I didn't have a lot of time I had already finished a POTA that morning and needed to packed up and head home. I was also at 6000' elevation and that doesn't hurt any Lol. I will have a second video out soon with a better look at how it was constructed and materials used. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
dose one need to put this on an SWR meter or dose one just build it and it will be good enough? The reason I ask is I don't have an SWR meter and would like very much to build one
Sam if you build it to the dimensions I posted below and use the same materials it should be very close I used the link I posted and didn't change anything and it was good. It is always best to check the swr though maybe get the best swr meter you can afford you will always use it later. 73
Another awesome build sir, and I thought 51 miles out of my ground plane was a good deal. Looks like I have another KK6USY build to work on. 73 my friend!
Hi Chuck. Steve [KN6ERU] here just saying hi(we met on the HRCC SOTA campout to Mt. Pacifico in '19 - tall dude standing behind you in the pic). Great vid! My son now has an '87 Toyota single cab 4x4 now. Did you mention you had a motor you were getting rid of or was that someone else on that campout?
The little YAGI BEAM for 2 meters that you have made do you by any chance sell them? If you do how much would it cost ? Please let me know. I am not able to make one myself because I don't have the equipment to do so. I really enjoy watching your videos Chuck keep up the great work you are doing my friend. 73 AE4OY William Peacock (EM-81UF) SOUTH EAST GEORGIA 🤓
No I don't sell them I can't get the parts cheap enough to sell at a decent price. M2 antennas sells some pretty lite 2m antennas of High quality and perfect match straight from their instructions. I will send you a email on the Hexbeam soon just been bust!
If you have problems like you alluded to at the end, it sure would be nice to actually see what the problems were and how you fixed them. Having that as a throwaway at the end is a little frustrating...
As I stated in the video the arrows I used had plastic inserts, and I replaced them with metal ones but all along my problem ended up being a bad Barrel connector.
question is Adams materials that he used in this description or is it the old one that is in here? i don't want to build it then find out the hard way ..ty 7 3

Hey Chuck,
The Archery club want all of their arrows back. 🤣
Nice video, mate
Great job making your antenna! I wish there were more videos like this, rather than other guys trying to sell commercial versions of the same thing.
Thank you so much !! My son-Inlaw and I will be building two of them once he gets his license . Thank you so much
I finally got to your 2m Yagi video with the arrow shafts. This gives me a few ideas, thanks.

How many watts will it handle?
I have put 50watts into it with no problem.

Not a new concept.
Elk Antennas have been building this design for years and it’s a 5el dual band 2m/70cm and you don’t need a duplexer either.
