I'm speechless. That's so amazing, It sounds like our musical taste evolved similarly, but my mom still referred to my albums as devil music, whether I was playing Black Sabbath or Rush.
I had the exact same start to music and playing bass. Kiss/gene simmons got me to pick it up, then I got heavy into Sabbath, and rush thereafter. Started march 21st right before my 13th birthday on the 23rd. I feel exactly the same way about this band. Of course this cover as any other you do is flawless. Great job man. Big fan of your channel, its helping me add so many more rush songs to my list
Great cover. I LOVE hearing you cover Geddy because it's so great to hear the base so clearly. These older ears have a harder time picking out all the notes now. hahahaha I always loved "Circumstances". I remember hearing them play that live during their Hemispheres tour. It's always been a favorite of mine. And I loved what you wrote about Rush. I too started with Kiss and gradually moved on to Rush. Well, it wasn't really gradual. My friends were all going to a concert to see a group I had never heard of before. They said they were "seeing Rush. Live." I thought that sounded pretty cool and decided to go with them and scalp a ticket. It was their A Farewell To Kings tour. I had no idea who this band was, but I wanted to go. Cheap Trick opened up, followed by UFO. Then Rush came out and I was totally blown away. As we were leaving, I told my friends "Rush is my favorite band of all time!", and it remained true to this day. Rush helped pull me through the worst period in my life. I was grieving and widowed when my partner of 24 years passed away. Everything seemed different and I felt lost. I almost didn't go to R30 because I didn't want to do anything, but I thought "he'd want me to go. He always said I should try to see them in their home town." So I went to Toronto to see them. I felt numb and empty, but when they started playing, I felt at peace. I realized then that I went back with them further than I did with my partner. Where everything felt different, seeing them was one thing that didn't change. I was again hearing things that I had since I was 17. It was the first time in 8 months that I actually felt some joy. I'll always have the best feelings for them.
I’ve always been amazed at Geddy’s bass parts, how he came up w them. being a prog trio clearly gave him latitude to play more, but the dude’s ability to weave in/out of song structure & still carry the rhythm is otherworldly. great playing, as always 👍🏻
Currently learning this song by ear as best I can. This song has one of the most creative bass lines I’ve ever heard! Lots of variation, 16th-note fills, and even accidentals with the D# at the end of each verse. Rush made a common key like G-major into something spectacular!
This is even better than the first version of this cover. I dont know how you pick up all those subtle bass notes he plays but I know when you play it like oh yeah that's it. Another Superb cover.
Wanted to say thanks for posting all these rush cover videos. Just joined "Rash" a northern california Rush tribute band and the learning curve is rough. This was the absolute hardest to sing and play at the same time. I swear it took me a thousand hours to get. Hemispheres is the greatest album ever created by humankind (Close to the Edge sometimes ties and surpasses, depending on mood lol) It is literally music of the gods.

I'm also a long time bass player and lifelong Rush fan but haven't taken the time to learn entire Rush songs. Probably because I'm too busy playing drums and guitar and my band most likely wouldn't do Rush anyway. After hearing your Bangkok cover I spent about a year trying to locate a B-301 as it was never a bass that I would have given a second look.
