I almost like this game, I just cant get over how silly they look running around in the open getting shot in the face with machine guns and not instantly dying.
this is one of those situations where gameplay absolutely should overrule realism. the game would be unplayable if a single shot killed a man in a unit

Weird I used to be in both of those divisions that they show for the american soldiers the Red Bull and the rock of the Marne. The accuracy of this game is commendable
I love how cover when you load in is the 1SSF, those guys don't really get much commemoration from what they did so I think it's really cool that they did that
Way back in the day (60s-70s), Avalon Hill was the boss of war games. I loved them (Third Reich remains among the very best war games ever). In 1977 they released Squad Leader, which was their first attempt into squad level tactics. It clearly demonstrated the difference between the strategic level of control that had been the mainstay of their current game crop and tactical level of control where individuals making up squads had to enact what previously had been just one of your units. And, I was terrible at it. LOL Quickly learned that I would have been a horrible tactical leader in war. I think this is one reason why current games like CoH are beyond my ability. Looking forward to following along with you here.

When that enemy tank positioned himself (herself?) in front of that official looking building, I couldn't help thinking about that scene where the SS is guarding the plaza with the bank in the Dirty dozen. :) A very underrated movie.

quick tip if they are in green cover behind say sandbags if the opponent is shooting on the same side it dosnt count as cover for the open side

It’s unfortunate this game is being criticised so much I really liked the idea of a ww2 total war kind of campaign I doubt the next COH game will have a campaign like this now.
I dunno early days I think if they can work on improving the campaign in future updates that will bring about a better game overall

Oof. The beginning was amazing but the campaign is super rough. Skipping the entirety of Sicily that could have been a good tutorial ( it was an absolute rout for the Axis, took in 15 days ) and missing so many battles for the most handheld set I’ve ever seen is not a good first impression.

I just wonder, how to recover an captured building (shield icon) after been attack? Some building has 2 shield icon,some has 4 shield .
tried this on tough too. I feel like tough = easy. The AI often just stands around. Wish you could change difficulty later.

😬 it's a bit silly that you can crawl right into the path of an MG and then run away like nothing happened. I used to love CoH but they really need to fix this.

They do but it's quite rare if you think about sure they have MG42s and captured weapons too
@@jonathontyynismaa5310, they did not have HMG’s. When referring to HMG’s om the german side, it’s often an MG42 on a small mount, but it’s still only an lmg.
People are shitting on this game so unnecessarily. Literally 10 mins in and you are past the on rails tutorial. Its really not that far at all. Gamers are the worst.
except they don't let you fight any battles in the campaign...
@@Audifaram Case in point. If you literally spend the ten minutes and get past the tutorial, you can fight every single battle that you want to fight to your hearts content. Zoomers man. Absolute idiots, with literally zero patience.

Classic rts camera level, we’re used to much great zoom levels in newer rts games. I’m surprised they didn’t decide increases the levels for this game.
Is it just me or CoH 2 had better graphics ?
Unit models and general textures are better in COH3 I think its the particle effects in 3 that don't look as good or rather are similar to 2's.

Mixed reviews... Worth the money?
I’ve only played 2-3hrs so far. Need a good few more before I can give a solid recommendation one way or another tbh. I’m enjoying it but it does seem like they’ve kept things quite safe with this title and not really innovated much aside from the campaign map. Whether playing it safe and giving bud more of the same is a bad thing I think will be a highly personal decision.
You should play Xcom2 with mods
No desire to replay xcom 2 again just yet, wasn’t too much interest in the last series I did of it so unlikely for me to do another too. Maybe if / when there’s an Xcom3
Wait i just noticed this small issue with this new feature. Pausing and RTS removes thr RT part of RTS. this is no longer a Real time Strategy game.
pausing is in every RTS game, hit escape to bring up a menu, the game will pause in 99% of RTS games :P And most have an actual pause feature too. If you could ONLY exclusively give orders in Pause mode then sure it would make calling it an RTS questionable but the faction that you can play the whole game without pause and that it is just that, an option (to pause) doesn't change that this IS an RTS :P
@@lionheartx10 I see what you are saying, but add in Turn based over map and you no longer have a clear cut RTS. You have a game with an identy crisis. Just like when Relic added MOBA elements to DOW3. What they would be better doing( and this is just my opinion) is making an RTS game and not shoehorning in other popular elements to sway other players to the IP.
@@thejunsk I don’t think adding the turn based campaign is a detriment to COH3 being an RTS. It’s now an RTS with a turn based campaign, a great and much needed addition to innovate the frankly previously stale formula. DOW Dark Crusader did a good job of campaign and battles so why not COH. Plus SEGAs other core Strategy series, Total War has long since thrives on the combination of RTS battles and turn based campaign. DOW3 (doesn’t exist 🙃) but yes agreed the MOBA Elements were unneeded and negatively effected the title but I don’t think that’s what the mix of RTS and Turn Based Campaign does here for COH. While not a perfect implementation it’s definitely a positive for the series!

They’re definitely improved from 2006, more like 2016 but still far from the cutting edge of what can be achieved in a modern rts graphically at least.

It doesn't matter if this is just released. This game is charging £50 (£70 for digital prem) and is advertising itself as triple AAA. All criticism is valid criticism. It will likely still say the same six months from now.
Live service games are a disaster and Company of Heroes being in the same boat as Dawn of War 3 puts absolutely no lessons learned inward.
They expect full price? We expect full-high expectations. This game is worth £20 / £25 at this rate.
Graphics and art style don’t bother me too much tbh, the models themselves have decent levels of detail. I am disappointed by the UI choice, while it was fine / the common style in the early 2000s for rts games. We’ve seen numerous rts games innovate their UIs to sleek and minimal designs, ones that don’t take up 1/4 of the screen space. Yeah I was also disappointed that it’s not scalable too! Can’t say I’ve ever seen / player an actual mobile game with UIs like this, find the mobile argument a weak jab tbh.
Think overall Relic have gone for playing COH3 way to safe as they know it’ll appeal to fans of the original 2 games style and design however it’ll make a lot of new players bounce right off and some returning fans that rightly so expected more after all these years. That said the campaign map for its first iteration is a solid entry and a great addition to the formula as is tactical pause which can lead to some very satisfying combat manoeuvres!
