Watching lion order a Chaffee to perform tank pirouettes in front of an enemy at piece is priceless 😂☠️
Kind of funny considering that the Chaffee tank didnt even participate in the Italian Campaign. First Chaffee tanks arrived in France by November 1944
Hi I'm from Salerno. Near the beach there is a street called "Via generale Clark", general Mark Clark visited Salerno after the war. Fun fact: Jack Churchill (the man with the sword) partecipated in the avalanche Operation.
p.s. We have a interesting war museum, "Museo dello Sbarco", about the Salerno landing.

37:54 WOW that a lot of TANKS if only there was some sort of GUN for TAKING OUT TANKS maybe some sort of ANTI TANK GUN.
Really enjoying this series! Just want to suggest utilizing buildings more; if you place machine gun units in buildings they will absolutely wreck anyone around them. Sometimes you can enter a building through the back and then your units can shoot out the front, surprising the enemy and pinning them down. Also, picking up any abandoned artillery and anti-tank guns the German's drop. You can see how much trouble those AT units gave your tank; you can then take them and do the exact same thing to the Germans.
Sweet sadly can only watch 20 mins on break at work shall watch this tonight!
Off to the pub but I'll get back for this! Got the game myself but love a bit of commentary.
I feel like the British anti tank rifles are really strong, like better than bazooka teams for some reason
Interesting the opening of the salerno mission is different depending on where you do the attack from.
I started mine from the roads after the airport and my troops stared in the right corner of the map

I feel like the pillboxes on the campaign map suffer from the same problem as the coastal bombardment in Fall of the Samurai does. The enemy can just swoop in on their turn and attack it without suffering damage.
Funny part is everything you did is wrong in the initial assault, except the mortars. Clustering up a singe line and contact point, dropping paras on unpushed inf, oh vey.
I'm an American, and even I wanted you to pick the Indian Artillery! 👍
It should warn you about minefields with sign posts in campaign idk if that's true tho. I'd go with flamethrower most times and just use grenades 2 clear wired road blocks
That's after a mine field was located, allied engineers/sappers would put up sign posts to avoid their own units walking in IRL

I have just started the campain... i am so glad it goes back to its roots... i thought for a moment it was just going to be turn based with crappy animations..
may i ask what graphics card you are using becuase i havent seen any issues with other youtubers ive watched maybed its a radeon or nvidea issue?
It’s a confirmed issue with the early access build I had. Should be all fixed now the games released and the latest version is updated. RTX3080 with latest drivers.
So Im a History major and love the information leading up to US involvement but I'm pretty sure the US's first landings invading the Germans started in North Africa before the Italian campaign. Why is that not the first campaign option and Italy is? Because our first military engagements was Operation Torch, the Battle of Kasserine Pass. Just alittle nick pick also the Chaffee tank didnt arrive to the battlefield til in France November 1944
It is. The intro amd prologue have them spending 5 months mostly training in North Africa. Yhen prologue begins with capturing sicily(I think) island. And then u start campaign on mainland
@Pharmboy6 interesting. The North African campaign would make a good tutorial, just wish games would skip over the important first blunders of US military history, blunders we learned from then dominated since

Is there a way to skip this “map mode”? I hate it and it’s driving me nuts.
Hey Lionheart, I love watching you play this game but it pains me to see you not use the pause function to its fullest and lose units needlessly. You should use it more often to queue up movements and make sure that you don’t get overwhelmed at the heat of the moment. The fight with the Indian artillery company for example if you had paused and queued up unit movements I feel like you could have taken the points more efficiently. I felt if you had paused when the tanks came in you could have come up with a plan to take those out too. Pausing a bit more does not detract from our enjoyment, so please do so more.
Pausing isn’t the only way to play. Considering it’s the first time it’s been introduced many, myself included will take some time to adjust to the feature but we may also choose not to use it and continue to play in full real-time as we have done for COH1 & 2. I prefer to play however makes me enjoy games most I don’t care for always playing at maximum efficiency that’s just not enjoyable for me. I’m 2hrs into this game so give me some time to get used to the mechanics and I’ll likely improve.
