Memories! I grew up on a farm many decades ago. After picking, we kids would all sit on the back porch snapping beans. We didn't have scissors. Take 2 or 3 beans, snap them in half and snap the ends off. As we progressed, mom would come get them to start canning. She didn't have a pressure canner, but seeing your cans lined up on a towel on the counter brought back many good memories of sitting with mom in the kitchen. Thank you.
My grandmother would laugh you all to death seeing you use scissors, lol. We "snap" out beans with our hands. But I guess every family has it's own way of doing things. Love this!
I miss snapping beans. I also like the prices of canning tomatoes. I wish my family still farmed. It died out with my grandparents. There are still groups that share veggies around here, which is nice.
Shelling peas (pink eye purple hulls usually), and prepping green beans (snipping the end off, pulling the string, & snapping them) is one of mybfavorite memories of being little! My Pawpaw was a farmer & we would have beaucoux vegetables, so we would load up the truck bed with the bushel baskets full of beans & peas, and a few watermelons...we would go to the creek with lawn chairs and the adults would sit in the creek in their lawn chairs & work on the veggies. All of us kiddos mostly played in the creek (the best cold water!), but we did our fair share of work. Our little fingers would be dyed purple from the peas & fingers sore! We'd spend the entire day, eating watermelon, playing, laughing, and just enjoying the day. I'm making myself sound like I'm 80 years old, but I'm not!😂😂😂 This was in the late 80's, but my God if we could just go back before all this insanity started in our country. God Bless & ❤ from Georgia! 😊
I think my hands will get more tired from using the scissors then from snapping the beans with my hands. 😂😂 But it's good to see people still know how to do stuff like that! Most people rely on the supermarkets.
I’ve always been nervous about double stacking. I have the same canner as you. I think I’m going to try it this year if my green beans or peas make enough to do it that way. Thanks for showing the stacking.
Love these videos on canning! I have a small garden and my pole beans (long beans) are coming on fast. Have been freezing a bunch of them and am thinking about canning some as well. Questions: How long do you cut your fresh green beans before canning? Also, what liquid mixture do you use after loading your jars? Thanks for any info. ❤
I have never seen anybody not string their beans before! Ugh when the younger kids brake beans and dont get all the strings out then you find one while eating 🤮😢

Love it, especially that everyone helps❤

Beautiful harvest! If you add a lil zinc, the green beans stay bright green during the cooking process ❤
Great job! You will be so happy in march! ❤
Way good memories
Way to go!

We never used scissors. We always used our hands to snap them. 🤷🏼♀️
Oh, c'mon you babies! You snap the beans - you don't cut them! You find the bad ones easier. Sometimes, Gramma knew best!
How long do you boil them?
Is there a reason you're only cutting 1 bean at a time? You can cut 3 or 4 at once and all keep "quality control" on sizes

Use bigger scissors and cut many at a time
