Take raised bed apart, put soil and all in black plastic bags, let sit In hot sun to bake then put in dumpster. The heat will kill it seeds and all. Then buy you one of those garden blow torches you attach to propane tank and fire that entire space cooking it. The re build your raised bed. I did this with creeping Charlie. That’s all I could do to get rid of it!
I think this is my favorite garden! Please give an update soon! Love the formality and layout of this garden! Y’all did an awesome job! Simply beautiful and vibrant! You look stunning Jenny! Thanks for sharing! 😍🌸💕
I was just at Creekside Nursery for the first time this morning and it is just beautiful! I've been wanting to come ever since I started watching your videos. It was so great to see all of the garden beds you have planted in your videos!
Thank you for the tour. Your garden is just beautiful. I love the colors. Thanks also for being honest about what you know and don't know. It is refreshing to know that you also have issues. Love your energy and attitude you are a pleasure to watch.
[1] Well done Jenny. Not many people can actually pronounce the Red Hot Poker Kniphofia [nuh-fow-fee-uh]. It's always fantastic to hear the botanical & Horticultural names said correctly. [2] Each time you show the Cottage Garden, it just gets better and better. Your layering is exceptional. You are forced to move your eyes all over the place to "FOCAL" interests. [3] Which is why I really want to see those 2 beds in front of the Atlas. Especially how the Feature turned out. [4] Also have you seen the Atlas from "Google Earth" satellite image? It is just an incredible image. Which is also why those 2 beds in front of the Atlas will eventually make an impact statement as well. [5] Bless mama for taking horticulture courses. I have done them my entire life & studied plant pathology for a couple of years, then switched my major. Lifetime Farmer, and grower. My mind is totally respecting this exceptional gardener she has turned into. [6] The Jalapeño's you can make Jalapeño Poppers. Cheese in the center, and a nice batter around the outside. So good. [7] Chop them fine and make a cheesey queso dip. [8] Dehydrate them [remove the seeds and inner stem] and you can put them through a coffee grinder into a dust to sprinkle on meat when making homemade chili or or any foods you want just a touch of spice to it. That's all I can think of right now. Have a blessed day!
Jenny: Your caladium alone look fantastic in planting urns! Thanks for suggestions of what to plant w/ daylilies & sometimes easier to have decisions made for you! 😁 Also, thanks for the name of #1 hummingbird plant! I do have a really good recipe for spanish rice made w/organic rice, ground turkey, peppers, onions, garlic, green peppers & Rao sauce (not Jalapeno)though. If you would like the recipe, I will sent it along to you as I have your e-mail. Love the dress you & wearing & you are striking! Still are! Was going to get up really early today & garden but went all day yesterday & get to sleep late & felt tired. Like Mike tells me we all need a day off! So right! Always appreciate all of your knowledge!
The garden is just beautiful! So helpful to see even a pro deal with garden issues! Love when we embrace the fact that we are always learning! Thank you Jenny and viewers. Love this community!
Good morning, Jenny❤️! Thank you for the beautiful tour of your garden space. You are a precious flower amongst a nice display of God’s creation! Thank you.🌻🌸
Garden is Beautiful !! For the peppers we.love of course clear, cut length wise, stuff with a mix of cream cheese with red onion, and your fav spice, then wrap in bacon, you can grill or put in oven the til bacon is how you like it. So good 💞🌶🌶💞 Happy Gardening 😊 Oh and Strawberry Jalapeño Jam !! Great on crackers or toast !
GOOD MORNING ☀️ TODAY IS ANOTHER SCORCHING HOT DAY IN TEXAS 103 HOT HOT HOT 🥵🔥🔥 MY GRASS IS TURNING YELLOW MY PLANTS ARE SLOUCHING OVER SO THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS DRINK MY COFFEE AND WATCH YOUR SHOW. AND HOPE FOR THE BEST NEXT YEAR.
Howdy Neighbor! I'm in North Texas (NW of Dallas) and am about to erect a shade cloth over my container garden tubs. That sun is really something, and this weekend it's just going to get hotter!
Interesting, your dodder issue. I have one flowerbed with dodder but ONLY when I plant nasturtium (so far) there. It took years to first realize there was a weed there because nasturtiums reseed and they did. Dodder kind of just looked like nasturtium vines. Then I had to google it. As long as I don’t plant what it likes, it lies dormant. It had been dormant for the past 4 years and i decided to put nasturtiums back in. I ended up ripping the entire bed out mid-summer and the whole heap went straight to the burn pile. It has not bothered Coral Bells, snap dragons, bells of Ireland, hosta, zinnias, stock flower, dusty Miller, lavender or astilbe. That’s all I know, but it’s at least SOME info. You are the very first person besides myself that I know of who has had dodder. No one even knows that it exists.
Slice the jalapeños in half, slather on cream cheese, and wrap in quarter slice of bacon, secure with toothpick. Bake at 425°F until desired level of bacon crispness. YUM.
I would contact your North Carolina Extension office to make sure that you are disposing of this weed properly since it is very rare. If it goes to the landfill that could create a new problem.
I haven’t had much success with hot poker plants, not sure why. It’s amazing that lilies have already stopped blooming here in Florida and gone dormant but it’s much warmer here earlier than the rest of the mainland. Really enjoyed the tour!
I really love watching GWC because I see what my zone (7b) is capable of producing, but I must say that this garden is especially glorious!! So much inspiration and education, thank you Jenny!! 💖🌿🌼
Jenny and Jerry, I hope you had a wonderful wedding anniversary on the 24th! How many years have you sweethearts been married? Jenny, you look fabulous, and I love your dress! Have a wonderful weekend. ~Margie💕
New gardener here from upstate SC and I’m so thankful to find your channel where we have very similar climates! Would love for you to continue updating us on your David Austin roses! There isn’t enough info on how to grow them in our hot, muggy climate!
I really enjoy watching your videos. I really do miss home down south. I dont miss the humidity because it still finds me here in Ohio. LOL But heard you are looking for some sweet recipes for the use of jalenpos. I have 3 if interested let me know where to send them to. My favorite is One-Pot Longhorn Pork & Bean Chili with Jalapeno and Smoky Red pepper Crema.
Everything is so lovely Ms Jenny! Your viewers are a constant Blessing to each other for sure! I’ve never heard of that weed either! Sounds pretty nasty. My uneducated approach would be to harvest, (breaking off the greens from the carrots, leave it in the bed). trash the greens, trash the soil, trash the unused seed. Make a note where the seed originated for future reference to. After your clean up, be sure to clean your gloves and tools! A lot of work, but worth keeping the nasty from spreading. Wishing you the best outcome. Thank you for sharing! 🌸
Jenny, when you were showing the jalapeño, in the upper left corner of our screen there is another awful hornworm to be eliminated quickly! I had then for the first time this year on my pepper and tomato plants. They are so bad. I googled and they turn into a hawk moth…instead of hummingbird moth.
Five ingredients guacamole cilantro, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, chopped hot peppers, chopped avocado. If you need salt and lime fine. There’s enough salt on chips and enough acid in tomatoes.
Thank you Jenny ; everything is growing perfectly 🤩🪴 I do love your videos who can be more happy with gardening it feeds the soul 😉🙏🧤👒🐨🦘🇦🇺Karen from Port Macquarie 🐳🌊🍂🦇🐝
Hands down the very best option for all those peppers is Cowboy Candy. Personally I make Cowgirl Candy which is just slightly more mild. I put it in EVERYTHING! Casseroles, pizza topping, soup, artisan bread and just snacking right out of the jar. Find a recipe with turmeric that really makes it the very best IMO.
Your garden is beautiful! I love your dress! It matches your caladiums! We just purchased a winter home in FL. I'm learning so much what you have in your gardens, it's not the same zone but similar. I'm excited to put those Lantanas in my garden there. I can only use them in pots at my MI zone 6b home.
I have only seen dodder once on some cosmos plants I grew from seed. I was living in Sacramento California at the time! It really gave me the creeps lol.
Love your videos- and your nursery when I have been able to visit! I, too, thought the tomato hornworm developed into the hummingbird moth, but it becomes a different moth-the five-spotted hawk moth.
The garden is looking so pretty!! Laura from GA did a video last year with her mama making something out of Jalapeños that I think they called cowboy candy. It looked yummy! Happy Father’s Day Jerry!
The tomato horn worm actually turns into the five-spotted hawk moth, not the hummingbird moth. Thanks for reviewing the Titan Tomato cages. I have been curious about them, as they’re pretty pricey, but look fabulous in the garden!
What about burning the weed? Will that kill all the seeds? Maybe do a burn purge on that bed this winter to eliminate seeds. Or I guess dig out all the soil?
Young lady you are a gardener. How beautiful. The structure of your garden is primo. Thanks to you and hubby for these videos.💕💯
Thank you so much!
That dress against the caladiums! Absolutely brilliant. Love all the flower beds.
Thank you❣️

Your garden doesn't show any signs of heat stress. It's so lush and lovely.
I think this is my favorite garden! Please give an update soon! Love the formality and layout of this garden! Y’all did an awesome job! Simply beautiful and vibrant! You look stunning Jenny! Thanks for sharing! 😍🌸💕

Thanks, Jenny! So enjoyed seeing your cottage garden! I’m moving to western NC next summer - looking forward to seeing Creekside in person!✝️🇱🇷❣️
You look gorgeous! So is the garden!
Pickled jalapeños is a favorite on burgers, sandwiches or even on it’s own.
Amazing it’s so hot here on gulf coast!! Peppers go well with the Texas caviar!!

Come on back my friend!
You look lovely today Jenny! Like a flower in your beautiful gardens! Great visual tour as well!💃🌿🌻🌺

Jenny that garden is absolutely beautiful.
So full of color. Hope you can get rid of that Dodder.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

I'll be making this. My son's visit soon, it's a bacon thing lol
Cowboy candy is an absolute must try!! Smoke it with meats on the grill or use it's syrup for your meat glaze!
Your garden is beautiful. Love all the different colours.
You and your garden are looking extra pretty today Mrs. Jenny!!!
I would contact your North Carolina Extension office to make sure that you are disposing of this weed properly since it is very rare. If it goes to the landfill that could create a new problem.
excellent advice
Great point!
Looking very lovely today 🌺
Yum! Look up bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeño! My son loves caramelized onions and grilled jalapeños on his burgers.
You look beautiful today! Thanks for sharing your garden. It is lovely! 💚
Thank you❣️
Gorgeous dress. You outshine your garden
Laura’s cowboy candy recipe is perfection for jalapeños! We love love it on biscuits or cream cheese with crackers.
My mind went to Laura's cowboy candy recipe as soon as I saw Jenny's jalapeño plants 💚😋
I haven’t had much success with hot poker plants, not sure why. It’s amazing that lilies have already stopped blooming here in Florida and gone dormant but it’s much warmer here earlier than the rest of the mainland. Really enjoyed the tour!
Candied jalapeños! Lots of recipes on line.
The garden is looking absolutely beautiful.
You look fantastic! That dress!
Your garden looks beautiful and so do you. Love the floral pink dress.
I like the poppers also but I put pineapple and bacon bits in the cream cheese then no need to wrap the bacon around them. Yummy!
Your flowers look wonderful!
So pretty. Love everything
Love your cottage garden
Love wicked witch coleus. Those caladiums are beautiful. I just bought 4 yesterday.
I really love watching GWC because I see what my zone (7b) is capable of producing, but I must say that this garden is especially glorious!! So much inspiration and education, thank you Jenny!! 💖🌿🌼

Cowboy candy. You will love them for jalapeño

I planted basil 🌿 with my tomato 🍅 pants and I haven’t seen one horn worm 🐛 this season!

Make some cowboy candy with your Jalepenos. It's delicious! Serve with crackers and cream cheese or with burritos and tacos.
Summertime! Good morning, what a nice coffee break. We enjoy your buddies and ideas 💡

Fun tour
Love this!
I have no idea what daughter is but maybe if you put black plastic on the bed over the summer that may kill the weed seeds
Thanks for sharing. Hope your husband had a good day.
Cowboy candy you’ll have to look up a recipe. It is amazing I have never met anyone who does not like it. It’s a sweet and spicy jalapeño
You're garden is a real joy to look at.
What about burning the weed? Will that kill all the seeds? Maybe do a burn purge on that bed this winter to eliminate seeds. Or I guess dig out all the soil?
Love your cottage garden!!
