      Keith Kuhn here.
      Hello there I just subscribed and click the bell and give you a thumbs up..
      I always wondered how does ASCAP , BMW or whoever keep track of how many times it is played or who's playing it or if it's on a jukebox or whatever.
      I could never understand how they could possibly do that.
      Keep track of it that is.
      Can you touch on that sometime ?
      Thanks Keith.

    I like this vid but one thing is incorrect. If you have a Pub Admin deal with companies like SongTrust, CD Baby Pro, or Tunecore you can not work with Audiam because the Pub Admin deal has your rights for mechanical royalties collection. For TH-cam collections you can work with Audiam if thats what you meant.

    Question, with collaborative efforts like an independent beat maker, and an independent lyricist creating a mixtape. Can you split royalties? And if so do you each have to register the songs separately?

  • @shewoke9268
    @shewoke9268 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1 Ok so first get a us copyright(for legality )-
    2-then get BMI or ascap (for royalties) --
    3 --then get song trust (international royalties 100$) --(check out Audium too)
    4 -- get sound exchange (for non interactive streams like pandora)
    About how much will all this cost ?

    • @pielisse007
      @pielisse007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Double-check, but iirc:
      1. Copyright filing fee is around $55 per application (you can register multiple songs at once, so an album would be just one application)
      2. ASCAP: $50 to register as an artist, $50 to register as a publisher. BMI: free to register as an artist, $150 to register as a publisher.
      3. Songtrust charges a $100 one-time fee to sign up and then a 15% commission from the royalties that they collect for you
      4. SoundExchange is free to register for, because they keep a % as an administrative fee.

    i offer a take on this topic on my own channel!! this is a good video, but it should be noted that the copywriting process isnt super super simple and obviously costs a bit of money (which you did state). but because its a longer process, you should try and do as many as you can at the same time, like 50 plus if you have them.
    also worth noting that most of these organizations hold onto your royalties for 2-3 years after they collect them, so you can retroactively collect them if it was fairly recent.

    By having your music played in the mall as the background, how would the work as a Performance Royalty? Wouldn’t the song be played from a Spotify playlist if you wanted to? Just a little confused.

    @KDMRMUSIC Great video man! Thanks for clearing some of this up. However, doesn't Songtrust already collect and monetizes TH-cam Content ID for you? Would there still be a need to sign up for Audiam? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks!

    • @mastermusicmarketing
      @mastermusicmarketing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the time of recording, Songtrust wasn’t offering TH-cam Content ID monetization. I would say check the costs of each and make the decision for yourself.

    I wrote a southern gospel song in 1983. I've signed a contract for the song to be published and recorded by a well known southern gospel group. To make a Long story short I have never received one dime of royalties from the sales of this song which is in a collection of songbooks volume one through volume 15 my song happens to be in volume seven of the collection. The title of the collection of books is keep on singing. I was wondering if somebody could respond to me since I have never received one dime of payment on my song, and by the way these books have been sold in every Christian bookstore all across the United States and Canada. I believe I have a case, don't you?

    BUT I don't create the beat.When beat makes say FREE FOR PROFIT.does that mean you can put it on streaming g platforms an get all the royalty?
    And what about if you LEASE a beat..what then as far as streaming?and finally if you buy the trackout right...please let me know as I just created an Album and want to get paid thank you.

    Hey bro! Say my producer and I are homies and we create a song and split everything down the middle (publishing & master). If I eventually become a TH-cam partner and my music video blows up and I get say $2,000 in Adsense money from views on that video, am I obligated to pay my producer $1000 based off our split? Or is TH-cam revenue from views/adsence, etc different than the royalties mentioned in your video? And if in fact I do owe money to my producer, does a PRO like ASCAP take care of that? Thx man

    So for beat makers who sell beats to rappers/singers or/and get tv placements / webisodes / ads

    • @mastermusicmarketing

      It really just depends on what rights you retain through the sale of your beats. I would still sign up for Audiam. At the least, you should be entitled to a portion of the Audiam royalties.

    This video was perfect man, like and subbed. One last question for soundexchange and collecting royalties from digital radio play, (pandora) If I am a producer and I have a percentage of the master recording but i am not on the song as the artist or author, how would i go about collecting it from a producer standpoint? Same way as the artist does im guessing? Also at what point do you see it fit as a producer who is not well know but still generating a decent amount of sales to artists looking to upload work on the beats? . Sorry man a lot of questions but this is the last. If I have made sales and have music on my instrumentals that I fully own but have not yet registered with any of these sites, will I be eligible to collect royalties from music I own before signing up?

      Hey 2 Step. You should consider joining our free community on Facebook. (Http://kdmr.us/indieclub). You can ask as many questions as you want, and there are plenty of people there to answer them!
      If you're the producer in the hip hop sense (meaning you made the beat), then you are considered a songwriter on the track as well! So you'd be entitled to mechanical royalties just like the rapper would.
