When I click on the "Download everything you need here" dropbox link I get an "Error (404) We can't find the page you're looking for" message. At this point I guess I can't go any farther. Anywhere else I can get the files I need?
Forgive a stupid question----- When I double click the Install appstarter from my C: drive --- does it install it on my C: drive or directly into the Oculus Go. Also, if I want to install (for example) the Amazon Prime Movie apk onto my Go, do I do it from my C: drive, or do I do it directly from appstarter ON the Go?
So I'm really curious about this, as this will determine if I purchase the go or not; is there a way to cast a show from your phone to the go? As if the go were a Chromecast or something similar?
So I'm having a problem with the AuroraStore. It opens perfectly fine but after i download an application when i click install it leads me to the 'android settings' page on my oculus go, and when i try to turn on permissions from unknown sources it gives me the pop up to accept it and my oculus go controller stops being on screen (isnt being sensed even though its on and working) until i click the home button again which sends me back to the store right back at the installation page where i can choose to go through the unsolving process again

Tyco Tech, I am having trouble where after I install the AppStarter and Oculus TV Launcher, the Oculus TV crashes when you try to start anything like Prime or Netflix. Any suggestions? We factory reset the Oculus Quest and try to reinstall several times. The Same results. This is a second Oculus that I have, it worked without issue on the first on.

For some reason, when I plug the USB into my computer, it says "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I have searched everywhere, and all of the methods I found did not work. Do you know any methods that would possibly work? PS. I am using the Oculus Go.

Thansk, I don't, unfortunately I don't have a Mac to test with and try solutions. I don't think it's possible unless you have a windows VM on your Mac.
I had trouble with Appstarter crashing so I uninstalled using ES File Explorer then after reinstall it works fine, thanks so much for your tutorial. I still have the same problem with Prime Video so I tried the same thing but reinstall didn’t work unfortunately. Any advice? Also screen casting relies on motion sensor in Oculus so my stream is blacked out when not wearing the headset, any way to avoid that?
I would try sideloading prime video again, let me know if that helps. To prevent the screen going dark, just go to your power settings in the Go phone app and change the timeout settings.
Hi there, I tried to sideload Netflix on my oculus Quest, i can open the app, register my account and when i launch a video, i have the subtitle but the screen stay black. any ideas? . It's work fine with prime video
Thanks! I do everything with my GO Wirelessly. Only need to plug it in to charge (and sometimes to transfer really large videos if I'm in a hurry). Once you really get it set up you can transfer/stream from your network, the cloud, even wirelessly straight from your cell phone to the GO (no network needed, video on this coming soon). Using ES file explorer is the easiest way to install non Oculus apps by far too. I don't have a blog, hardly have time to make any vids, lol. If you have any questions in particular feel free to ask, I'll do what I can to help here!

Ok. I have APPSTARTER on my GO. I ran the appstarter for Netflix in the adb folder. On Oculus TV I have a NETFLIX icon., If I click on it it asks me to download the Netflix app. I want to watch the online version of Netflix - not the GO version, which has poorer resolution.

Using the Bluetooth settings helps with pairing keyboards you can't pair with the companion app. No idea about ES saying that. Did you download it from the developers link in the description?
Has this method been broken by an update? After Installing Appstarter/OculusTVLauncher I run the Appstarter from unknown sources and it tells me Appstarter has stopped working.

If you're getting that error, the adb folder isn't in the right location. That's the only possibility. The Go should show up as a drive. Try plugging it in and then look in the Go and see if it's asking for permission.
I had this problem too. I had to turn developer mode off to grant permission on the headset before turning developer mode back on and allowing permission again.

Nope, what you have is adb\adb, should be adb. lol. You extracted to a folder when you should have just extracted it. Take everything you have in the screenshot, and move it up a folder.
If you have a game controller you can just push down a couple time and then right (I believe) and then click a. Mine came up so I could see it (not full screen like you're getting).
Are you starting appstarter from the launcher in the unknown sources in your email library, or from within oculus TV? You can sideload using the command prompt too.
Tyco Tech I’ve got the same issue. I’m launching from unknown apps. In addition the screen casting only casts for about 20-30 seconds before it goes black, there’s a line of text in yellow that says “Invalid return value 0 for stream protocol If I attempt to launch Appstarter from within headset without streaming it crashes as well. Not sure I’m savvy enough to sideload from command prompt, really hope you can help me get this working.
Are you using the I know sources launcher? If you are and it crashes when launching that usually means the actual Netflix app wasn't installed. Try installing Netflix again.

@@jdastro I gave up on this.... not sure what i did wrong.. but this video didnt help me.... i bought an oculus app called virtual desktop... i can link my oculus to my desktop and access everything that way.. any app anything i want just like i would. On my desktop. .. this solved my issues.. i can watch my iptv or anything i want. Problem solved for me. I didnt have to modify my oculus at all

I'm having issues getting the Netflix launcher to work. It keeps crashing, not sure why. Also, is it possible to sideload the WWE app to the Go? I downloaded a WWE apk from APKPure.com but the app said it needed updated Google Play services and wouldn't go any further. I tried getting Google Play but that didn't work either. Finally, I found the WWE app on Aptoide, downloaded it, but then got a message saying my device wouldn't allow files from unknown sources, which brought me to a screen that allowed me to enable unknown sources. Once I did that, I got a weird, distorted message and was unable to click on anything or get out of it unless I hit the home button on my controller. Am I doing something wrong?
So, to install aptoide app you'll have to use a file explorer (ES File Explorer, File Manager+, etc), show hidden files/folders and the apks will be in the .aptoide folder. For Netflix, it sounds like the actual netflix app isn't installed.
tell me how to uninstall this. these apps should not be loading through appstarter because it doesn't make sense. the other guides don't use appstarter.

I've downloaded the files to c drive. Oculus is hooked to computer. Double clicked the oculus tv app launcher like you did, but it stops at "waiting for device" in the cmd screen. Ugh!!!! Any suggestions?
Try installing try oculus USB drivers: developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-go-adb-drivers/ unzip the download, then right click on the winusb.ini file and click install. This should solve the problem.. Let me know if it work.

Ok, in the abd folder create a folder called APKs then move the Netflix launcher apk into it and try again. I’ll fix that batch file in the download so others won’t have problems.
@@tycotech More progress, I got app starter, netflix and prime video to show up in the unknown sources list on the left, but they arent showing up in the OCTV menu. If I click on the line in the unknown sources, it says "netflix tv has stopped"
For the life of me, I can't figure out why none of my sideloaded apps are popping up under unknown sources. All of the bat files are installing including cast to pc without issues but I'm not able to locate the apps. I have developer mode and developer feed enabled. What am i doing wrong?
OK, so cast to PC doesn't install anything, but if it's working we know you're connected and developer mode is working. Make sure you're running the "INSTALL Appstarter AND Oculus TV Launcher.bat" file, then under unknown sources in your main library you should see appstarter, click that then you'll see your side loaded apps in Oculus TV. Let me know if that helps.
No that didn't help, however clicking the connect wireless adb bat file did the trick. Thanks a lot for the files, I've been trying to fix this for a while. Also, thanks for responding.
AppStarter crashes on startup. I am running latest firmware on my GO. Also, can you please provide uninstall batch files... I tried doing it manually but get an error saying apk not found (I basically copy and pasted your batch file 'install' command, replacing 'install' with 'uninstall', running from within c:\adb\adb).
I can create some uninstall batch files, won't be able to get to it till later tonight. I'd install es file explorer, can access it from oculus TV, it does a great job uninstalling.
With developer mode off, Windows sees it on the sidebar. With it on, no sign of "VR Headset". In either case, USB is connected and the batch files don't seem to do anything.

Might need to install the adb usb driver (Google search oculus go usb driver), and be sure to grant permission in the Go for the USB connection (look in the Go when you run the bat file).

@@tycotech okay so when i download the drivers. I extract it and see adm64 folder and i386 folder with dll files, but no application to install I did transfered it to the c folder with the other files
OK, thought it was an .exe installer. Updating your drivers manually is a little tricky. 1st thing to try is to plug your GO into another USB port on your computer, if your computer recognizes it and you can access it in file explorer, try installing appstarter again.

I finally got AppStarter installed. First, the zip extracted inside a folder named after the file name (making three total "adb" subfolders.) Got rid of the top folder, then had to figure out how to install the Windows drivers. (Noticed your instructions after finding it elsewhere.) Eventually put on the Go and realized that I had to allow the connection. FINALLY, got AppStarter installed successfully. However, "cast to your PC" just opens a blank, black window instead of casting. However, dragging files to the blank window does install the app on the GO, so I'm good to go.

I tried to install apps from the amazon store and es explorer but it requires me to enable that option. I do see the system menu pops up and there is the option to allow install apps from unknown sources but when I press it, a window pops up asking if I'm sure or not with confirm and cancel button.. It seems that all I have to do is to press confirm button but the controller is not working when I am on this step. The pointer just will not show up after the confirmation window appears. I am having so much trouble with this. I am unable know if I loaded it. I have no idea what es file explorer is or where to get it and know my TV app opens to a black screen. I am feeling rather stupid at the moment. I am also disliking the fact that when you open a screen showing what you are doing on your computer its so small that it is unreadable. I'm hoping I didnt mess up my oGo beyond my ability to correct it. I would not recommend this to anyone at this time.
LOL, relax, you're not going to mess up your Go doing this (it's not possible). ES file explorer is the file manager I talk about and linked to in the description. Did you download it and install it? It's a lot like windows explorer on your PC, lets you navigate your folders. Have you checked Oculus TV and scrolled down to see if anything's been installed and is viewable in unknown sources? Just because you're having a hard time doesn't mean you should say other shouldn't shouldn't try. Kinda like saying, " I tried painting and it was hard, don't do it".... lol

I did find and make links for playstation vue and amazon video that worked for me. I do thank you for all that you are doing for the oGo folks and I am sorry for allowing my frustration to get the better of me. None of your video is complete. You refer different videos in a video. To much gossip and very less information in your video. How many time you use word super, it's really erritating.

I actually removed it as you don't need it anymore. In the latest update oculus fixed that problem and the Go clock's faster on Oculus TV now.

Hmm, maybe try reinstalling Netflix and Prime, if that doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling oculus TV? Lemme know if that helps.

You can use es file explorer to uninstall them. I would try reinstalling them and then reboot your go and see if you still have problems.

I would like to watch all my content that I already have in the go and also maybe download apks like gears tv and titanium TV. Will this do it?
Not all apps will work sideloaded, but you can try. I'm guessing these TV apps will work fine.

No problem. Headphones won't work, the GO doesn't have the Bluetooth stack for audio installed.

Has this method been broken by an update? After Installing Appstarter/OculusTVLauncher I run the Appstarter from unknown sources and it tells me Appstarter has stopped working.
Install appstarter by dragging the apk for it to the casting screen while casting. Sounds like it didn't install with the bat file

Each time I try to get past the first step, I get this. The ADB folder is definitely on my C Drive. Any suggestions? Also, is the GO supposed to show up as a drive? It isn't...

If you're getting that error, the adb folder isn't in the right location. That's the only possibility. The Go should show up as a drive. Try plugging it in and then look in the Go and see if it's asking for permission.
I had this problem too. I had to turn developer mode off to grant permission on the headset before turning developer mode back on and allowing permission again.

Nope, what you have is adb\adb, should be adb. lol. You extracted to a folder when you should have just extracted it. Take everything you have in the screenshot, and move it up a folder.

How do I enable unknown sources? When I try to install a double white screen comes up and I cannot read or click on ok for whatever it says.
If you have a game controller you can just push down a couple time and then right (I believe) and then click a. Mine came up so I could see it (not full screen like you're getting).
Appstarter keeps crashing on launch. Is there a way to sideload apps without using casting as well?
Are you starting appstarter from the launcher in the unknown sources in your email library, or from within oculus TV? You can sideload using the command prompt too.
Tyco Tech I’ve got the same issue. I’m launching from unknown apps. In addition the screen casting only casts for about 20-30 seconds before it goes black, there’s a line of text in yellow that says “Invalid return value 0 for stream protocol
If I attempt to launch Appstarter from within headset without streaming it crashes as well.
Not sure I’m savvy enough to sideload from command prompt, really hope you can help me get this working.

Are you using the I know sources launcher? If you are and it crashes when launching that usually means the actual Netflix app wasn't installed. Try installing Netflix again.

@@jdastro I gave up on this.... not sure what i did wrong.. but this video didnt help me.... i bought an oculus app called virtual desktop... i can link my oculus to my desktop and access everything that way.. any app anything i want just like i would. On my desktop. .. this solved my issues.. i can watch my iptv or anything i want. Problem solved for me. I didnt have to modify my oculus at all

Sounds like you didn't have the adb folder in the right place. Needs to be on the root of your C drive (C\:adb)
Do u know why I try to use the xfinity VR apk it automatically brings me to the samsung internet page as opted to the app....I am able to login it I guess its requesting to verify me not sure though
Sideload the chrome browser, that'll let you login correctly.

I don't see the APK directory in your adb.zip file, so the batch files don't work. Where do I get the APK directory and files?
I changed the bat files so the directory isn't needed anymore (all the apk's are in adb\adb now).
how do hide original apps in the appstarter? I don't see any options or check to hide etc.
Go to the appstarter settings, scroll down a bit and you'll see hide apps.

Hmm, try uninstalling it using es file explorer, then reinstall. Might wanna try a quick restart of the Go too.
I'm having issues getting the Netflix launcher to work. It keeps crashing, not sure why.
Also, is it possible to sideload the WWE app to the Go? I downloaded a WWE apk from APKPure.com but the app said it needed updated Google Play services and wouldn't go any further. I tried getting Google Play but that didn't work either. Finally, I found the WWE app on Aptoide, downloaded it, but then got a message saying my device wouldn't allow files from unknown sources, which brought me to a screen that allowed me to enable unknown sources. Once I did that, I got a weird, distorted message and was unable to click on anything or get out of it unless I hit the home button on my controller. Am I doing something wrong?
So, to install aptoide app you'll have to use a file explorer (ES File Explorer, File Manager+, etc), show hidden files/folders and the apks will be in the .aptoide folder. For Netflix, it sounds like the actual netflix app isn't installed.
tell me how to uninstall this. these apps should not be loading through appstarter because it doesn't make sense. the other guides don't use appstarter.

I have developer mode on and everythijg
developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-go-adb-drivers/ try installing these drivers. Restart everything and try again.

When I have installed Aptoide and trying to install any app, the screen is filled with a dialogue box, which I am unable to access it. Pls help
Just hit the back button, then find the download in .aptoide (will need to check show hidden files in your file explorer). Can install it from there.
I've downloaded the files to c drive. Oculus is hooked to computer. Double clicked the oculus tv app launcher like you did, but it stops at "waiting for device" in the cmd screen. Ugh!!!! Any suggestions?
Try installing try oculus USB drivers: developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-go-adb-drivers/ unzip the download, then right click on the winusb.ini file and click install. This should solve the problem.. Let me know if it work.

Ok, in the abd folder create a folder called APKs then move the Netflix launcher apk into it and try again. I’ll fix that batch file in the download so others won’t have problems.
I just fixed it (had the same problem for the prime video launcher). You can download the folder again if that's easier for you. It'll work now.
@@tycotech More progress, I got app starter, netflix and prime video to show up in the unknown sources list on the left, but they arent showing up in the OCTV menu. If I click on the line in the unknown sources, it says "netflix tv has stopped"

For the life of me, I can't figure out why none of my sideloaded apps are popping up under unknown sources. All of the bat files are installing including cast to pc without issues but I'm not able to locate the apps. I have developer mode and developer feed enabled. What am i doing wrong?
OK, so cast to PC doesn't install anything, but if it's working we know you're connected and developer mode is working. Make sure you're running the "INSTALL Appstarter AND Oculus TV Launcher.bat" file, then under unknown sources in your main library you should see appstarter, click that then you'll see your side loaded apps in Oculus TV. Let me know if that helps.
No that didn't help, however clicking the connect wireless adb bat file did the trick. Thanks a lot for the files, I've been trying to fix this for a while. Also, thanks for responding.

AppStarter crashes on startup. I am running latest firmware on my GO. Also, can you please provide uninstall batch files... I tried doing it manually but get an error saying apk not found (I basically copy and pasted your batch file 'install' command, replacing 'install' with 'uninstall', running from within c:\adb\adb).
I can create some uninstall batch files, won't be able to get to it till later tonight. I'd install es file explorer, can access it from oculus TV, it does a great job uninstalling.
Also, try restarting your GO and try again.

With developer mode off, Windows sees it on the sidebar. With it on, no sign of "VR Headset". In either case, USB is connected and the batch files don't seem to do anything.

Make sure the the main folder is on the root of your C drive (not in downloads, etc).

Might need to install the adb usb driver (Google search oculus go usb driver), and be sure to grant permission in the Go for the USB connection (look in the Go when you run the bat file).

What app did you install? Should be able to open oculus TV and scroll to the bottom and it should be there under unknown sources.

As a result, I don't see the AppStarter or Oculus TV launcher on my unknown sources. Yet I have put my Oculus Go on developer mode. I have installed the drivers and restarted everything, but still getting that error. I do notice, though, that there is no winusb.ini file among the drivers linked to at Oculus. There is android_winusb.inf, which I used to install the drivers. I have also tried different USB cables. I notice, too, that my PC is recognizing the Oculus VR headset.

Go here: developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-go-adb-drivers/ install the USB drivers and try again. Should fix the problem.

OK, thought it was an .exe installer. Updating your drivers manually is a little tricky. 1st thing to try is to plug your GO into another USB port on your computer, if your computer recognizes it and you can access it in file explorer, try installing appstarter again.
Actually, just right click on the android_winusb.inf file and click install. Forgot about that. That should fix the problem if it's a driver issue.

You can uninstall them with ES File explorer, super easy.

It's not bricked (can't brick without root) try this:
Factory reset the device with the headset buttons
Turn off your Oculus Go.Hold the power and volume down button on your headset at the same time until the boot screen loads on your headset.Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button
You might also be in the middle of an update.

Easy fix, You need to move the folder to your C drive, should be C:\adb. It'll work then.

Just right click the adb folder, click cut, go to your C drive, right click and select paste. Should be good to go after that.
I finally got AppStarter installed. First, the zip extracted inside a folder named after the file name (making three total "adb" subfolders.) Got rid of the top folder, then had to figure out how to install the Windows drivers. (Noticed your instructions after finding it elsewhere.) Eventually put on the Go and realized that I had to allow the connection. FINALLY, got AppStarter installed successfully.
However, "cast to your PC" just opens a blank, black window instead of casting. However, dragging files to the blank window does install the app on the GO, so I'm good to go.

I tried to install apps from the amazon store and es explorer but it requires me to enable that option. I do see the system menu pops up and there is the option to allow install apps from unknown sources but when I press it, a window pops up asking if I'm sure or not with confirm and cancel button.. It seems that all I have to do is to press confirm button but the controller is not working when I am on this step. The pointer just will not show up after the confirmation window appears. Look in the Go when you plug it into your computer, you'll need to click allow connection.

I am having so much trouble with this. I am unable know if I loaded it. I have no idea what es file explorer is or where to get it and know my TV app opens to a black screen. I am feeling rather stupid at the moment. I am also disliking the fact that when you open a screen showing what you are doing on your computer its so small that it is unreadable. I'm hoping I didnt mess up my oGo beyond my ability to correct it. I would not recommend this to anyone at this time.
LOL, relax, you're not going to mess up your Go doing this (it's not possible). ES file explorer is the file manager I talk about and linked to in the description. Did you download it and install it? It's a lot like windows explorer on your PC, lets you navigate your folders. Have you checked Oculus TV and scrolled down to see if anything's been installed and is viewable in unknown sources? Just because you're having a hard time doesn't mean you should say other shouldn't shouldn't try. Kinda like saying, " I tried painting and it was hard, don't do it".... lol
Thank you for replying, I did get the es file explorer downloaded and every thing else setup. I had never used or knew of google play. I did find and make links for playstation vue and amazon video that worked for me. I do thank you for all that you are doing for the oGo folks and I am sorry for allowing my frustration to get the better of me.
