Lovely movie. I hated Ethan's character at the beginning of the movie, but by the end, I was loving him and Sally, and very thankful the Director made this harsh, realistic, loving movie. If you feel ungrateful about anything in your life, watch MAUDIE and you will be transformed into a state of gratitude.
Kudos to Ethan Hawke. He can come off as pretentious, but that's a shallow perception of who is as an actor (in my opinion). He could have so easily become a pretty face in Hollywood, but his choices really buck this trend. I LOVE the depth he and Sally Hawkins bring to their characters and to the their relationship in this film. Sally Hawkins is PHENOMENALl.
Dear Sally, when asked if you knew who Maudie was before you made the movie, you said no! I didn't know either! What is so ironic is that not many people know you too, but after this movie they will. I was touch by this film as an artist myself, I was captivated by the nature and music. I think I hear an Academy Award your way !

they were both perfect - incredible gift of grace - i'd worked with men of the field, hired-hands, who were like 'everett' and so ethan as well as sally... a spinal disability too so i KNOW she was very very real: the film drew alot of tears from me, but in a good way, for not many movies can crack me up like that, & thankfully so!
If the movie, actors, directors, etc., are not at least nominated, those who have seen the movie,will be severely disappointed. I know I will most certainly be. I wonder if Maudie ever met her daughter or if her daughter ever realized who her mother was.

From listening at beginning to end, it was in fact not a difficult character for him to play - they are very much alike, also in the sense the neither were self-aware enough to know how egocentric they are.
I wish i could just buy a cabin in nova scotia when I am having a hard time with life. Ethan Hawke you are a person of zero substance, sally Hawkins is soulful and beautiful in all ways imaginable. Ethan was lucky to have worked with such an amazing human being. I only wish I could tell Sally. Thank you for being born.

Totally, I respect him a lot as an artist for his choices. Also, his book Ash Wednesday is amazing. Sally is so talented too!
