I don’t actually know whether or not you realise this, but this channel, and the topics, but more specifically the way that you talk about them, you cover things, psychological moments that other people don’t think to mention, and it’s very helpful. Case in point, convincing yourself that you want to play a harvest moon game because you take a notion for it, only to discover later, or have a realisation that you don’t actually like these types of games, and the notion suddenly leaves as the realisation hits you think what am I doing? I don’t like these, why am I trying so hard to meet it half way, when there are other games I don’t have to work to like. Now this kind of thinking resonates with me and I find that you are really intuitive about yourself with self analysis and the psychology of gaming. Not enough people talk about these elements. Good video, well done and I too am in the very same quandary with octopath traveler at the moment. Keep digging into the psychological elements like that I would say because it does suit you to talk about these bundles of thoughts and feelings that you have to untangle to really understand clearly how you feel about a game, and it’s working well for the channel too it seems. Keep it up.
Completely agree. I've had similar experiences with these games. I like alot of games and I have trouble finishing them. But I always say that I got my money's worth.
I love your videos and your enthusiasm. Watching them is like having a coffee with a friend. I drop games all the time. Too old now to waste my time with something I'm not enjoying. Same goes for books and tv series. We all need to respect our time.
In Octopath its crucial to get the 2nd jobs, and then from there really try to stack the team so all elements are covered. When your characters have 2 jobs they can do so much more. Understand who hits hard who heals and who is in the middle. I bought it when I got my switch years ago, and I found it super hard as well but always wanted to get through it.
The characters in Octopath Traveler not interacting in each others stories is one of the biggest design blunders in modern gaming history. Recruiting a character just to watch them in a cutscene that acts like you’re not there was totally immersion breaking for me. Made all the more clear after experiencing how beautifully the characters of BG3 chime in on each other’s story lines
It really sucks when they do that. I am only playing the persona arena and persona q games to see character from 3, 4 and 5 interact with each other. If that was not the case, I would not go out of my way to play them.
Octopath Traveler 2 was a big improvement overrall compared to the first one, I didn't love the first one like so many people did when it first released but I gave Octopath 2 a chance and it was an incredible experience. It also connected all the eight characters' story in a creative way while maintaining each one unique
@@scalicali8073 I heard that before, I think I was just so disappointed by OT1 that it sapped all of my desire to give it a try. I’ll probably give it a shot if I see it on discount
I had a very similar reaction to Octopath Traveler; they nailed so many things that I like about oldschool JRPGs, but they completely dropped the ball on what actually *matters* to me in that kind of game: the story and how the characters relate to it and to each other. Just as you say, it looks amazing and the battle mechanic is really clever, but those don't matter much when there's no reason for using them other than to use them.
As a big fan of the Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler games, I have finished them all but I do think their difficulty spikes are possibly their greatest flaws. Obviously there are a bunch of people across the Internet who have finished them just as I have, but everyone else I know in the real life dropped them all right around where they became too demanding and expect you to have a very good understanding of all the possible ability combinations. I think they'd really benefit from some difficulty options, or maybe even just a more traditional set of optional challenges for the people who want them rather than asking for near-perfection three quarters of the way through the main story. All that said, Octopath Traveler II does do a much better job of this than any of the rest of their games, only getting very difficult with the final bosses and even then not as much so as the others.
Perfect synopsis.. Octopath & Bravely are a little more let’s say hardcore classical tb rpgs i think designed for let’s say veterans of the OG Dragon Quests & FFs..
As someone whose favorite Final Fantasy is 8, it can get you in a few ways - the fact that enemies level up with you and/or not taking advantage of the junction system. But yes, the end bosses can be quite challenging and it took me a very long time to beat (even on the Switch).
I'm definitely with you on Octopath. That game has so much going for it. Beautiful visuals, stellar soundtrack, excellent combat. For me, it was just the story. I could not bring myself to care enough about the story to finish the game.
I totally feel you on the needing to know where to go and have a sense of direction. I really dislike being lost in my games and spending all my free time trying to figure out where to go. I mean if you’re gonna give me an open world that’s cool I like that and it’s fun but make it so there’s a clear marker telling me where the story is for when I’m ready to move on. And please please I’m begging you every game needs a dang map
i love your vids 🫶🏼 i subbed about a month ago when i found your channel and binged quite a few of them. i like the showcase type formula (or lists) that you choose for vids and i love how down to earth you seem. you're just super real and relatable! ❤ i am about 20+ hours in octopath traveler and i absolutely adore it, but the difficulty spike is no joke and i am now seeing how grindy this game really is.... lol so i get it
I dropped Baldur's Gate 3. Not because I don't like it, I love it, but because it's a time investment and I wasn't ready for how long it will take. Usually if I drop a game, it's just because I get distracted by a new release I was really looking forward to.
I remember playing FFX as a kid with my dad. We didn’t know what the hell we were doing. We battled the final boss for 8 straight hours, all characters KO’d and finally Zell delivers the final blow. We didn’t even know english all that much (there was a dictionary on the table when we were gaming). Thank you for sharing and speaking about this topic. I know it can be hard sometimes to drop games. I’m always for topics that lead to personal growth, every little bit helps not to mention videos like this. Gaming is fun, if it’s no longer fun then start droppin’ those games. There’s a lot of other games just waiting to make you happy. 💪❤️
I dropped FFXIII about 25 hours in also because it got too hard. But I finished XIII-2 with no problems because it has an easy setting. It's really fun and not too long.
Totally agree about Octopath. I actually really liked a lot of aspects of the game but the sudden difficulty spikes killed me. Cruising along crushing foes and suddenly a random miniboss just wipes you and feels like you never had a chance. I liked like 5 out of the 8 stories. The art style was very pleasing for me. I'm pretty sure I'm had all but complete 1 story and just couldn't do it anymore. Not totally opposed to going back and trying some day but with all the other games I have in my backlog I don't see that happening.
I dropped octopath traveler years ago. I continued my game about 2 weeks ago and I understand now the boost mecanic and dont have to grind. But you have to do the sidequests and optional dungeons. Since you say you are a more linear kind of gamer, I understand that even in chapter 3 you find it too grindy. I'm about halfway done in my chapters 2.
COMPLETELY agree with you on Octopath Traveller. That is EXACTLY what happened to me. I was enjoying it and getting through quite handily when, all of a sudden, WHAM! Here's a difficulty spike. And it completely ruined it for me. I couldn't stick with it after that. Great video!
For the record, the "Harvest Moon" games aren't actually Harvest Moon games. Story of Seasons is the actual successor to what used to be Harvest Moon. So if you don't like farming sims, fair enough, but that's probably the worst example of what would have been a good game 😂 If you ever feel the itch again, try our Stardew Valley and/or a Story of Seasons game! Anyway, love the vid!
Actually, it was recommended to me by someone who really knows their farm sims ironically enough. I’ve tried Stardew too and it wasn’t for me. It’s all good lol it’s just a genre I find boring LOL
Haha yeah, if you don’t like Stardew, then you don’t like the genre! 😂 I’m actually interested in hearing what people think of the modern “Harvest Moon” games because they all look so janky compared to Story of Seasons to me. SoS maintained the quality.
From what I see of the newer Story of Seasons games it looks like they dropped the ball hard as well. So would be fair to say neither of them are essentially the successors of the Harvest moon series nowadays.
I love Final Fantasy 8, but understand why most people don’t hahaha! It’s probably the most difficult FF game tbh, especially the final area/boss fight.
In my last attempt I happen to put igris on the blond haired teacher, which meant I lost him.... So now I know, never to put my "demons" on other characters... (^^")
I skipped Octo 1 and went straight to 2. I finished it at 80 hours and I had to put it down and pick it up several times. If you play it the way it seems the game wants you to, you'll be advancing all the characters stories at the same time which kinda gives it a disconnected short story feel. It was alright. By the end I was having a hard time keeping track of the plot of each character's story. The combat was just making sure your party has all the weapons/elements and then spamming BP increasing abilities/consumes with buffs up to finish a fight in 1-2 turns.
I dropped several of the ones you mention: FFX (couldn't' beat the last boss), FF8 (just didn't get into it) and Alien Isolation (got tired of being lost all the time). I actually want to go back to Alien because I keep hearing what a great game it is. I'm bad to game jump until something really draws me in.
Totally get that you dropped Octopath. Had the same issue with Octopath 2. But I want to come back to it at some point because I think it doesn't need as much grinding and patients as Octopath 1. Great video as always! Really enjoy this topic and I hope you'll do a part 3 😊
Such a good topic! I loved that you and TigerChainsaw did this each on your own 🤩 I hope you’ll be able to get past Yunalesca in FFX; that battle inofitself is a PAIN. Totally get that being a choke-point for people! And don’t ever feel bad for stopping playing a game! If the vibe ain’t right, it’s not worth the time investment at all.
I am currently struggling with the chapter 11 and Final Fantasy 13. FFX is the only game I’ve ever platinum in the final fantasy series but I am OK with the massive grind and to fill the sphere grid is obviously a pretty big one. I grew up with it too and have it on every system available. The end boss has some awesome metal music too! (If you’re a fan of that!) 😊😊
I don't know how exactly you were playing Octopath but the main "right way" to play it is in going in circles. Literally. 1 circle - 1st chapters of all the characters, gathering them. 2 circle - 2nd chapters of all the characters, by fast-traveling to the nearest city, taking the character of the corresponding chapter and making your way to the required city. And so on. For the most part, you won't need any grind going like that. Especially if you explore optional locations of appropriate level and do side quests. I would also recommend getting all the 2nd jobs in-between 1 and 2 chapters and trying matching them to first jobs. Octopath 2 is a great game, with some characters outright amazing but my issue for actually dropping it was... Now, not all characters have the same "recommended level" for their chapters, like, some have chapter 3 at lvl 31 and some on lvl 37, some have different amounts of total chapters and some just for the sake of it have a few chapters with the same number... Not only is it nonsense but it also became boringly easy around 3rd chapters. As much as I love Temenos, I don't know how to actually play that from start to finish.
Honestly, I’m willing to give it another try one day! It’s really good I just got to a point where I was struggling to level up and I felt like I was wasting my time so I stopped.
@@femtrooper yea, I think I gave up on Octopath around 5 times too at first. But just because I started with the thief and his 1st chapter is as boring as it gets... It was maybe only before the last attempt, that I actually researched a bit to find info people shared as: "I wish I knew befor starting the game" and actually finaly understood some things, so going into the game got much more enjoyable. After that I only struggled with 4 advance job gods challanges... because doing them before 4th chapters is kinda too early. But honestly, if you would prefer easier experience with more getting into the series mechanics and better(mostly) stories, I do agree that second one may be better. Even if I found half of the mechanics unnessasery with how easy game is...
OMG i had the same experience with Octopath Traveler! Sometimes it was annoying to get from A to B, but i remember, when i tried to beat the boss for Tressa in Chapter 3, it felt impossible. I tried to grind for hours in caves that were way out of my league and buying better stuff, but after many trials i just gave up and sold it. Now, if i see a game by Square Enix, i'm so hesitant to try it because i'll fear it'll be a grinding nightmare and impossible to enjoy.
Hail, Femtrooper! Great dropped games list. I myself love Final Fantasy 8, I learned to love it over the years, its easily my favorite of the PSX trilogy (7, 8 and 9). FF8 is a game that's meant to be broken and exploited, moreso than any other FF game, like, its designed to be played in quite a few different ways. If you want an easy time with the game, learn Quezacotl's "Card Mod' ability, and turn enemies into cards (at low HP), instead of striking a killing blow. You'll win the battle, get a card and wont get any XP - this is how you exploit FF8's "low/no level game". Some bosses may still be tough, but overall, imo, this is the game's easy mode
I'm in the same boat with FFX I always consider it a favorite game, played the songs to oblivion, got really far but messed up on my skill tree so kept dying on an almost final boss and put it down never to touch again for decades. I ended up watching the rest on youtube. I plan to try it again next month!
Paige, I think for me personally. Every game that I've ever played is a test of patience especially as a video game completionist. Sometimes when my patience is tested it can lead to a very pleasant gaming experience or a very frustrating gaming experience but I do it as a personal test to myself with regards to what I can handle and what I can't handle. I don't think I've ever hit a point in my life where I outright dropped a game to never play it again. Every game that I play is a game that I intend on completing and permanently retiring but there have been quite a few games that I have had to put down because of a frustrating completionist requirement, I still intend on getting back to it but I would much rather be playing something else. As we get older, I think we have a greater appreciation of free time and knowing full well that we may not have as much free time as we think we have, so we often have to prioritize on the things that make gaming enjoyable to us. I think for me deep down I'm just a glutton for punishment and I like to test myself on if I can actually complete a specific game while ignoring a lot of other great games that I could be playing but I take a lot more personal pride in my gaming life by completing a mediocre game rather than simply playing and beating a bunch of excellent games but at the end of the day it's a matter of personal taste. At the end, your well versed on what you like and what you enjoy with regards to your personal gaming interests and as long as you feel fulfilled and content with what you play, what you drop, what you enjoy, and what you can't tolerate then that is what matters. Unfortunately for me with regards to whatever game I play, it's either complete it or bust whether I like or not - that eventually leads to a no drop rule for me.
I thought people calling OT too grindy was just lip service but then when I got my hands on it, I realized it was the DEVS that made it grindy for no reason at all. Increasing the level req AFTER being a chapter is so trash to me. And for me it mad it even more frustrating cause they made it a point to say you don't need all the companions to beat the game, not even a full 4 party team. But with how its designed, you're basically forced to. 😩
Oh, I didn't realise you like horror games! If I can recommend The Medium? I don't think it's out for switch, but it's got such an interesting story and gimmick. Very silent hill or Alan Wake in some respects. Besides, if you don't end up liking it, you can always drop it ;).
It’s a struggle because I’ve had experiences with shows, movies or games where I’m not that impressed or get frustrated halfway through but when it’s all said and done, the experience was actually rewarding on the whole. If I had quit watching Twin Peaks during the season 2 slump I never would have watched the movie or season 3 which were incredible. At the same time, I wish I had stopped playing Ys Book I and II because it just wasn’t for me.
Yunalesca is probably the hardest story fight in FF10 (I never beat the final boss, leave a save open before the final area in case you need to grind for the final boss)
Hard disagree. There are vastly harder obligatory boss fights in FF1, FF5 and FF9 as well as in FF11 and FF14. Personally I consider FF10 the most overrated JRPG of all time and highly undemanding.
It took me 15 years to finish FFx. When I did, I realized back on the PS2 I walked right by the last boss battle and sat the game down. Tried again years later on PS2 and got about 80%. Now, I’ve finished 2x and plan on a third. It’s my favorite FF.
One game I dropped that still bugs me to this day is Sekiro. I got all the way to the final boss and just couldn't beat it. I had also struggled on the last 3 or 4 bosses leading up to it (some for many hours), so I just didn't have the drive to spend another several hours trying to beat the final one.
I am halfway through Sekiro and I hate it so much. Lol I beat Elden Ring and it's dlc. I'm playing DS3... but, Sekiro was my first From Soft game and I don't know that I'll ever finish it. I wish you could level up but you just have to parry. Hate it. Lol
*Turok 2: Seeds of Evil* Specifically, the N64 release. I already wasn’t having a good time with the game (despite liking it as a kid) but, on the level before the final boss, my “controller pak“ (AKA memory card) got corrupted. I had a choice between sucking it up and playing a game I wasn’t having fun with from the beginning or to move on to something worth my time. I’m sure you can guess which one I chose. *Xenoblade Chronicles X* Now this is a game I liked but it’s a long game. I played so much of it without anything else in between that, by around the halfway point, I hit burnout and put the game down, telling myself I’d get back to it after a small break. That was well over eight years ago. What sucks is I missed out on the online multiplayer because I wanted to finish the main story first. Now, with Wii U’s online service shut down, I’ll never be able to experience that mode.
It is refreshing to hear about the games people dropped :) I have dropped: Yes, your grace. I don't like that the game forces me to see my favorite kid suffer and that there is nothing I can do about it. I made it half way and watch the rest on youtube. Xenoblade chronicles 1, 2, 2 torna and 3. I like the idea and the story is great. But the combat was too passive for me and it became to grindy. I booted it up the other day for an hour and nothing happen, except I completed 2 side quest, which made me understand that the gameplay is not for me. Rune factory 4 and 5. I played about 20 hours of Rune factory 5. I like the combat, the design of the world and characters are nice. But the city felt a bit bare, I don't like how decorating works (I am not alone in this) and I felt like I spend all my time cleaning up the farm, because of how quickly it generated stuff. But I had my fun, so it did not feel like a waste to have gotten it. But I prefer stardew valley if I am in the mood for a farming, life, dating sim.
There appears to be an anti-backlog/play-only-what-you-like sentiment that's quite prevalent on this platform I find, and rightfully so. It seems many people grow up, time becomes increasingly valuable, and so fleeting dalliances with games is normal. Oddly I seem to have this backwards; whereas in my younger years I would rent games, play them briefly, bounce off them, I now am usually quite hellbent on finishing what I started. Even if there is suffering, even if I frankly don't enjoy some of the game, the sense of reward at the end is more than just beating the game for me; it's being able to look back and realize I committed to something and stuck through it, no matter what. It's the reason I generally avoid online games; I want to be able to roll credits, but down the controller, and bask in some end-cut-scene music. In other words, I strongly relate to your resistance to dropping games. To me, it feels like I was too weak somehow, that I failed myself. Needlessly dramatic, I know, but that's how I feel. As for Alien Isolation, it's my favourite survival horror game of all time. I found parts of it brutally difficult, and for its genre it is a very long experience. But the atmosphere, the oppressive nature of the experience, is just top notch. It's like an anti-power fantasy, where you are but a little rodent scrambling to survive. I often stare out the window at the star, and it's so eerie and makes you feel so small. It does the source material more justice than any other piece of media I have ever consumed. Anyway, I love your channel. You seem genuine and non-pretentious, a refreshing change of pace from the stereotypical sweaty try-hard gamer. Keep up the great work!
I'm currently on my sixth playthrough of Monster Crown, and I agree, it takes awhile for the story to get going, but my main motivation in those games is building a perfect party asap and you can do just that early enough. There are some pacing issues with the story, but I'm not sure if the current dlc fixes that since the Switch is still waiting for that patch. Needless to say I love the game and world, it just needed some more polish, not that the devs haven't tried with all the patches it got.
@@femtrooper If grinding was an issue the game had two ways to do it. Regular battle of course, and commanding monsters outside of battle to attack in the over world using Scout or Fireball, which runs on the physical or special stats. It's more fun than it should be.
I have a similar relationship with OT. The game is a marathon that gradually devolves into a slog. The difficulty is real. And the final boss is a cruel practical joke played on the player in more than one way. I'll take Triangle Strategy over OT any day.
I love Ratchet and Clank... but even I felt letdown by Rift Apart! Prior games did just about everything better: Better worlds, better weapons, better platforming, better story, better music, better humor, better puzzles, better side content, etc. Sure, the graphics were on point... but the PS2 games had larger worlds than what Rift Apart offered. I couldn't believe how small Torren IV turned out to be! If you want to see R&C at its best, play Going Commando or A Crack in Time. Going Commando was peak series hilarity with awesome side content, and A Crack in Time featured a better story with fantastic puzzles. And neither Ratchet or Clank get sidelined to shoehorn Rivet into things.
Giving ourselves the chance to drop games does wonders for the backlog. The one I regret though, is Tales of Innocence R, but my Vita memory card died on me while I was about 3/4s into the game.
You describing Final Fantasy VIII is me on FF VII. I own it on PS1, PC, PS3, and PS4. I enjoy it and really get into it but I always seem to die out at the part where Aerith is leading you back to town if I remember correctly. From what I was told that's barely into the game lol but I try and try. This time around I got the old Brady Games strategy guide as guides usually help me finish games. Its been working with Tales of Symphonia and countless others I have as I have somewhere around 100+ guides. For me I'm very old school so I rather have a physical copy of a book in front of me than a youtube video walkthrough or a gameFAQs walkthrough. Had to do the same with Legend of Zelda BoTW. Started that game 4 times now and made it a goal to finish that game this year but last time I played it I finally got off the tutorial section of the map and made it the north west part of the map and then fell off. Keep getting told its just a game your not into its ok but that's not it as I really enjoy the story I just jump to another game and then never seem to make it back to that one. But with guides it helps push me through them not because I'm not enjoying them but rather to make me focus on them.
I think I commented this last time round but I'm a big fan of dropping games. I don't even have to dislike it - if I've had a couple of hours of feeling just listless and meh about a game, it goes right in the bin. There are already more great games than I could ever possibly play, I don't want to waste my time on a game that leaves me feeling indifferent. A prime example is one I dropped recently - Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force. It's an RPG/dungeon crawl of sorts, and it's not BAD but it's not good either, it's just...a game that exists. I got about halfway through the game and I already felt impatient to be finished.
I know Octopath 1 has it's problems and it's ok not to like it, but I hope you give it a second chance. If you don't I hope you like OT2. I mentioned in another video that Octopath 2 have a lot of improvment in almost every way to Octopath 1. And I also droped Final Fantasy 8. Because I suck at it. When I played it for the first time, I couldn't for the life of me figure it out how to farm materials for upgrading weapons. So I droped it. Silly, but that was the cause... 😅
Another great video, love! I always struggle giving up on games the more time I sink into them, but there’s always a few each year. Final Fantasy 15, Yakuza 0, Blasphemous, and Sonic Frontiers are four that stand out as games I put 5+ hours into but then dropped this year. I wanted to get into all of them but something wasn’t clicking.
I have tried three times in my life so far to beat FFX and FFXIII. Both have sequels that I'd like to try but won't until I finally beat the first game. And I have zero desire to ever give more of my time to FFVIII. And I think I'm about to drop Chrono Cross.
Chrono cross can be awkward in a few spots of knowing where to go. I loved chrono cross but realize it's not for everyone. The junction system in 8 was a terrible idea (youre rewarded for drawing magic then running away...whyyyy???) but I still loved that game too.
I've played and NOT beat Chrono Cross dozens of times. I actually was a few turns from killing the final boss and still just dropped it. I dislike that last boss but love the rest of the game, haha.
Oh my mom would not be happy seeing FF8 here as that's her favourite game ever haha. FFX difficulty does ramp up at the end (especially Yunalesca) so hope you can get through it as it's my favourite FF game ever. I dropped Octopath as well because of the grind. The big game for me to drop was Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. Put a good 15-20 hours in and couldn't play anymore. Watered down so many features that make the SO games fun to play
@@JeannieLove I'm glad you're enjoying it. I do want to go back and finish it as it's 1 of 2 Star Ocean games I need to beat. Just for me personally it's rough to get through. Hope you continue having fun with it
I drop most of my games, to be honest. There are many games that are worth playing and buying, but not many that are worth finishing. And I'm fine with that; I play for fun. Once I've stopped caring about finishing games, I started to play many more diverse games and not just my favorite genres. There are very few games that I regret buying (probably less than 10, out of the hundreds I own)
Interesting! It really takes a lot for my to drop a game as the main reason I play them is to see the end credits. I love the sense of completion but I get trying out tons of games and if you aren’t feeling something, you should stop!
I agree on the Octopth traveler perspective. It’s tough, really tough, I just forced myself to finish the character I started with then it’s off with the game (I’m not sorry for the other characters tailgating me for nothing 😂)
I don’t drop games very often but when I do it means they’re really not worth forcing myself through. Sonic Unleashed is actually far more dire than the fans would lead you to believe and I don’t want give that another shot without a remake. And Baldur’s Gate 3 I think is just not for me. There are very few western RPGs I vibe with and none of them are CRPGs 🤷♀️
Since you want to try more monster taming games that are kinda similar to Pokémon, I highly recommend Nexomon: Extinction and Coromon. They are not buggy on Switch and have a lot more direction on where to go/what you are doing, and the typings are more traditional (fire, water, plant etc). I hope you enjoy :)
@@femtrooper I found both of them to be similar to older Pokémon games in the sense that when it gets hard, you can overcome the challenge by grinding. In Nexomon Extinction you should remember to stock up on healing items though, as bosses can hit hard. Coromon has difficulty options and even custom settings for difficulty, so you can customize your experience quite a bit.
If you ever figure out what your blocker is in Octopath traveler, please let us know. I have my own blockers as well. I’m not a big fan of the grinding in the game.
I can’t tell you how many games I have quit playing over the past 30 years because I could not get past a certain boss, area etc… it’s really frustrating, especially when you love the game. All games should offer an easy, medium or hard option and allow players to skip certain areas after numerous tries and failures. Days gone offered this and it was the only way I got past the hardest part. Otherwise I never would have finished the game.
Final Fantasy VIII is my answer to this as well! Have tried it a couple times and dropped it. It’s frustrating because I can’t pinpoint any one thing that I dislike about it - I just always end up prioritizing a different game or hobby and just moving on from it instead of progressing.
@@femtrooperFinal Fantasy game stories getting really weird toward the end is a FF tradition that goes back to the very first game so I think I can tolerate that! Just need to pick it up again and force myself to finish it. Thank you!
Final Fantasy 8 I have similar feelings about. I remember being so excited about it when it came out but never finishing it. I tried it again about 2 years ago and I just wasn’t feeling it, I really tried to get into it, maybe I’ll have to try it again too. I really need to start collecting newer games again, I watch videos like yours and HappyConsoleGamer’s and feel like I miss out. I’m glad to know a couple I might want to skip when that time comes. 😂 Once the NES set is done… maybe 😅
getting to yunalesca is pretty far but not quite over yet. you still have a while to go till the end. my favorite way to play FFX is Vita/PS4 using the game's cross save cloud system, lets me able to play on my Vita on the go and then transfer my save onto the PS4 and continue from there
This has nothing to do with this video but because you recommended xenoblade chronicles 2 in one of your kids, I went out and bout it and am glad I did.
I wish I could do this. I have this thing about leaving a game unfinished. Can't remember the last one I dropped. I even finished Cristales! Great list though, it sucks when you pick a game up and it just doesn't click with you.
Alien isolation is probably my favorite game of all time. I have beaten it on the hardest difficulty and also have the platinum trophy. I usually play it at least once a year. I bought the switch port of the game when it came out just because I love it so much
Of all the games on your list here, Highly recommend re-playing Final Fantasy X (X-2 doesn’t matter) But FF X is very rewarding for completion in regards to its narrative
I gave up on Octopath Traveler, also. The final boss rush was just too nuts. Then you have to fight the final final boss who has 500,000 HP! Way too hard.
Hey, big fan of your content since we share a very similar taste in games. Was a bit of a bummer for me seeing you dropped Ratchet, is this your first experience with the series? I used to despise the franchise back on the PS2 but one day I decided to dedicate a bit more to it and it became a favourite of mine, it kinda grows on you. Octopath, although I finished, I dont consider a gem of a game. I enjoyed, but comparing to other RPGs I played, it lacks in many aspects!
What you did with FFX I did with Lunar 2, but with the final boss lol. I always planned to beat it at the time and never got back to it until a few years ago and replayed the entire game and beat it. As for FF8, I read a comment you left while I was looking to see if anyone mentioned the junction system and yea you kinda need to click with that system. However lots of people didn't click with it either, so it isn't you thing and it's a counter intuitive system to a degree. Once you figure it out, you'll feel dumb for not understanding it, but then realize to the most out of the system you gotta "DRAW! DRAW! DRAW!" and it saps the fun out of the game and you can't use the most powerful spells in the game unless you want to handicap yourself via stats. I will say this, if you like the characters and story, you should finish it via cheesing the card game to get OP. However if you found the story to be alright, I think just Youtubing it would be better.
My list of games I've dropped 1. Final Fantasy 12 (It got me so frustrated/irritated with it that broke the physical disc out of anger/rage) 2. Sekiro (That game got me so frustrated/upset that i broke my controller out of anger/rage so i quit playing it indefinitely) 3. Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 the original (I got so annoyed by Random Battles and those games have no voice acting which was boring having to read the characters dialogue) 4. Skyrim (It sucks that i haven't beaten that game) 5. Yu-gi-oh Capsule Colosseum (That game is crap and if my memory serves me correctly' i rented it from Gamefly. 6. Dino Crisis (I've never beaten the game) 7.Spellbreak (I suck at that battle royale game and i got so annoyed with losing at solo matches) 8. Fortnite (I suck at it, i never won at least one solo match, i temporary returned to the game in 2022 because of the Dragonball collab that they did for the first time that has the Goku skin and Dragonball festivities but the game is currently not on my hard drive. 9. The Sims 4 (It's a boring real-life simulator) 10. Genshin Impact (I haven't been playing that game for the past few months now and i might uninstall the game to make room for the upcoming PS5 release of Wuthering Waves/Project Mugen) Plus, Genshin Impact being an action game is too slow pace for me. I can list more games I've dropped but I'll stop from there.
FF8 is a really weird game. I actually appreciate how breakable it is once you understand how it works. Whether or not you like the game basically comes down to how much you enjoy Triple Triad.
Interesting list. Sad to see Rift apart on here but I totally understand. Looking at my back log for this year, the recent games I’ve dropped were The legendary Starfy on Ds and Yakuza 4. The ending was too much and I wasn’t enjoying it. I looked up the ending online. I’ll jump into yakuza 5 at a later date.
FF8 is my favorite Final Fantasy. You really gotta know what you're doing in that one. And if you master the card game you can really acquire some serious power.
Completely agree on monster crown. I just picked it up again to try finishing it after setting it down for a few months. I'm so close to the end but just couldn't bring myself to finish it. It definitely does get a bit boring and bland feeling to say the least. Glitches definitely pulled me out of the experience more than I would've liked. I highly recommend nexomon for a pokemon fix or even a pokemon rom hack. I have been playing pokemon prism and it has been a blast
@@femtrooper you know I completely forgot that it did have a challenge mainly because of how much more fun I was having. The challenge only comes from battles if my memory serves correctly and not from being lost, confused and just overall boredom like monster crown. The story and monsters also were just more interesting to me in general. I only played the second game but now that a double pack does exist I would definitely recommend grabbing it. I definitely will be grabbing it to check out the first game when I get a chance.
That Pokemon style game looked neat, too bad it's glitchy and not great lol. I personally love Ratchet & Clank, but it's totally fair that it isn't your type of game. FF8 and I have a very strange relationship. I used to LOVE this game as a kid, but as I grew older my opinion soured over time, until I eventually started to hate it. Nowadays though, I feel like I've softened on the game, I still think it has a lot of issues, but after watching Resonant Arc's podcast talking about FF8 in detail, that helped a lot in appreciating the game's story more. I recommend giving their podcast a listen, they do phenomenal work!
@@femtrooper Mike and Caysen are great, definitely give em a shot! They did a series on FFX aswell actually, I've never been the biggest fan of that one either, but they make some great observations that made me realize that the story was more thought out than I initially gave it credit for.
The first Ratchet and Clank on PS4 was the game I got my son into gaming with when he was 5. I have a ton of great memories of that one. I still haven't played Rift Apart. FF8 was my first FF I remember getting it as a teenager and was totally hooked. Now when I go back to it I hate the junction system so much!
Ratchet and clank did feel generic at first but i stuck with it and i dig it. For farming games...i get addicted to them in a way that feels unhealthy, so i avoid them. Same with mmo games. I did a low level playthrough of ff8 recently. Just draw magic, and run away. Junction magic to your stats and keep your level low. It's still not easy but it was interesting and fun.
Random games I've dropped: Wargroove 1, Resident E 7, Xcom 2, FF 15, and Octopath traveller 1 too. And like you, I got the 2nd one with hopes that I like better than the 1st one 😅🤞
For the reason that you dropped FFVIII is why I've put off playing a lot older RPGs that I missed out on in the late 90s/early 00s. I've gotten so accustomed to modern niceties that I worry I'll be turned off by the retro gameplay, even though I played a ton of them as a kid with no issues. And as far as FFX goes, I tried playing it years ago and got so frustrated by blitzball that I just quit. I realize it's not necessary to even play that mini-game, but I'm a completionist and I wanted some achievement or weapon you got from playing it and knew I would never win. It's a dumb reason, but that's my OCD for ya.
I dropped playing Atelier Marie, which broke my heart because I am a HUGE Atelier fan,so i was very excited to finally get to play it. Well after spending about 20 hours with it, something just kinda made me stop,I wasn't feeling it. I hope to actually pick it back up someday,it isn't a bad Atelier game, just kinda meh.
Hey Paige, well no worry, I have a problem with some Final Fantasy too, still need to beat IX, X and XII, and from what I played I really loved them, just don't know why I never went back to them. Another one I drop it's because it was so boring was Various Daylife, I though I was going to like it because it looked a lot like Miitopia that I liked a lot, but this one was so repetitive and boring that I let it go!
100% with you on Alien Isolation. I thought it was great and very atmospheric for a while, but fear faded fast in favor of tedium as I kept dying and losing progress. My attitude to the alien went from "AAHHHH" to "oh for fucks sake," and that's not great
All of these are 10/10 in my opinion: Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X-X-2, Octopath Traveler 1 & 2, Rotchet and Clank: Rift Apart I respect your opinion. it is shocking to me that games that I love and are 10/10 in my opinion someone else doesn't like and dropped. I highly suggest that you stay away from classic RPGs becasue all of them are grindy. I grow up with those classic RPGs so I enjoy it. old days RPG games didn't have easy mode and bosses were very hard you had to grind for hours to levelup, gather money and materials for crafting. these days there are easy mode or even story mode which requires minimum effort to go through the game. It is ok but there is no enjoyment in that in my opinion. That's why some people like sub-RPG ganre "souls like RPGs" overcomming the challenges are rewading and thats where the enjoyment comes from.
Some of these games I did really like, that’s the issue! Also, lots of classic JRPGs I have beat if you follow my channel! It just depends on the game!
@@femtrooper well enjoy octopath 2..there is no difficulty setting but you can obtain items that increase the exp...you should also play signalis if you love horrors
Final fantasy 10 is great, i think i beat it 7times. Once on ps2, multiple times on ps2 emulator on pc one of those with the japanese audio, once on ps3 and once on Switch... Its an easy game to replay and just a nice story to go through.
This happened to me as a kid to (with FF8). I got extremely far into it, but I grinded the hell out of my characters, because enemies were so strong. And then I was at the spaceship and was stuck, because these enemies were unbeatable and I had no items to heal or anything else left. And yes, I did draw Magic, but not quite as much. Around a year ago I played the way the game is supposed to be played... as a card game with an JRPG attached to it, that punishes you, when you actually engage with it. And beating it was extremely easy. But also extremely boring for a long stretch of that playthrough. That music though...
PLAY CASSETTE BEASTS!!! Donno if you've tried it yet- but the best pokemon game on switch (or at least tied with Legends Arcues) is Cassette Beasts. I think you'll love it. Me and my wife are playing multiplayer.
I had very similar experience with FF8, I got very close to the end, I wonder if it was the same boss you were stuck at. My mistake was not understanding the parcel scaling with enemies at the time. I had just finished FF7 after max leveling all my characters and grinding for hours on end to just make the game last longer. Well that was my approach with FF8 and it didn't pan out well
I had the same experience with Octopath Traveller as you Paige. I loved how the game looked and really enjoyed the first few hours, then the difficulty spike diminished my interest in the game. Still hopeful that I will get back to it someday and also want to get in to Octopath 2.
I've had the opposite happen recently with the Witcher 3. Tried to get into in a few times and it never really clicked for me. Husband convinced me to give it one more try after giving me some tips (it's one of his favorites) and I've been unable to put it down.
Keep it up.
Thank you! This means a lot! ❤️
Thank you so much! And yes, better to be having fun! :)
Yeah, honestly, I think I just didn’t play the game properly LOL
The characters in Octopath Traveler not interacting in each others stories is one of the biggest design blunders in modern gaming history. Recruiting a character just to watch them in a cutscene that acts like you’re not there was totally immersion breaking for me. Made all the more clear after experiencing how beautifully the characters of BG3 chime in on each other’s story lines
Agreed - such a disappointment!
The second one is much better. Give it a chance if you have the time.
Man I love the way you are describing your experiences with these games. Subscribed!
Thank you!!! Really appreciate it! :)
Story is KING!
Glad to hear Octopath Traveler 2 is a bit better. I hope I can beat it!
Brutal! I really do want to finish it one day lol just for my own pride haha
I'm definitely with you on Octopath. That game has so much going for it. Beautiful visuals, stellar soundtrack, excellent combat. For me, it was just the story. I could not bring myself to care enough about the story to finish the game.
Glad you feel the same!
i am about 20+ hours in octopath traveler and i absolutely adore it, but the difficulty spike is no joke and i am now seeing how grindy this game really is.... lol so i get it
Thank you so so much! That really means a lot to me!!! ❤️
Octopath is in my top 10 rpg’s, I love it so much
That’s awesome! It is a solid game for sure! I really wish I could beat it!
I dropped Baldur's Gate 3. Not because I don't like it, I love it, but because it's a time investment and I wasn't ready for how long it will take.
Usually if I drop a game, it's just because I get distracted by a new release I was really looking forward to.
The distractions are real! It can be hard NOT to start a new game!
Same, with BG3
Yes! Games should be fun!
I dropped FFXIII about 25 hours in also because it got too hard. But I finished XIII-2 with no problems because it has an easy setting. It's really fun and not too long.
That’s 100% the next PS3 game I play then! It sounds awesome!
I have to 100% completely disagree with ratchet and clank. Game was absolutely perfect
I know! So many people loved it but it just didn’t click for me.
Yeah, it was a long game and a hard one. I’ll give the second game a shot!
Ahhhh, that could have been it!
Thank you! Nice to know I wasn’t the only one!
For the record, the "Harvest Moon" games aren't actually Harvest Moon games. Story of Seasons is the actual successor to what used to be Harvest Moon. So if you don't like farming sims, fair enough, but that's probably the worst example of what would have been a good game 😂
If you ever feel the itch again, try our Stardew Valley and/or a Story of Seasons game!
@@retrobrandon Yeah, I was super stoked but alas, not for me lol
From what I see of the newer Story of Seasons games it looks like they dropped the ball hard as well.
So would be fair to say neither of them are essentially the successors of the Harvest moon series nowadays.
I love Final Fantasy 8, but understand why most people don’t hahaha! It’s probably the most difficult FF game tbh, especially the final area/boss fight.
Yeah, it’s a weird one but I still kinda want to go back to it.
I’ll be trying that one soon so we’ll see!
Agreed! Glad you felt the same!
Totally get that you dropped Octopath. Had the same issue with Octopath 2. But I want to come back to it at some point because I think it doesn't need as much grinding and patients as Octopath 1.
Great video as always! Really enjoy this topic and I hope you'll do a part 3 😊
Haha, it may be possible!
Such a good topic! I loved that you and TigerChainsaw did this each on your own 🤩
I hope you’ll be able to get past Yunalesca in FFX; that battle inofitself is a PAIN. Totally get that being a choke-point for people!
And don’t ever feel bad for stopping playing a game! If the vibe ain’t right, it’s not worth the time investment at all.
Thank you! And yeah, total coincidence!!!
(If you’re a fan of that!) 😊😊
Well, hopefully I can beat both someday!
@@femtrooper Did you play X-2 at all?
@@thyturtledad I did! I beat it and loved it!
100% get this! That’s exactly what was happening to me!
Interesting! Thank you!
I put 90 hours into Octopath Traveler. Got all 4 advanced jobs, but couldn't beat the true final boss even after looking at guides.
Brutal! I don’t get why they do that.
I'm in the same boat with FFX I always consider it a favorite game, played the songs to oblivion, got really far but messed up on my skill tree so kept dying on an almost final boss and put it down never to touch again for decades. I ended up watching the rest on youtube. I plan to try it again next month!
Good for you! You can do it!
Awww, I loved finishing Ratchet and Clank! Admittedly, I was thankful for the option to skip a few of the repetitive puzzle sections
I did see that option but I didn’t care lol just didn’t click for me. Oh well!
Final Fantasy X was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played and the first game I actually completed by myself as a kid.
My first one too!
Yeah, I hate dropping games! I tend not to actually but sometimes…ugh, sometimes I just have to.
Love this take!
Oh, I didn't realise you like horror games! If I can recommend The Medium? I don't think it's out for switch, but it's got such an interesting story and gimmick. Very silent hill or Alan Wake in some respects.
Besides, if you don't end up liking it, you can always drop it ;).
Haha, awesome! I’ll look into it!
Yes, it takes a lot for me to quit a game lol
I dropped Octo as well. It was so boring and the characters were so vanilla except for Primrose. I dont know if I can restart the 4th time..
100% this!
Yunalesca is probably the hardest story fight in FF10 (I never beat the final boss, leave a save open before the final area in case you need to grind for the final boss)
Perfect! Glad you confirmed it’s a tough boss!
That’s awesome! Hopefully I can finish it then!
One game I dropped that still bugs me to this day is Sekiro. I got all the way to the final boss and just couldn't beat it. I had also struggled on the last 3 or 4 bosses leading up to it (some for many hours), so I just didn't have the drive to spend another several hours trying to beat the final one.
I feel this!
I am halfway through Sekiro and I hate it so much. Lol I beat Elden Ring and it's dlc. I'm playing DS3... but, Sekiro was my first From Soft game and I don't know that I'll ever finish it. I wish you could level up but you just have to parry. Hate it. Lol
*Turok 2: Seeds of Evil*
Specifically, the N64 release.
*Xenoblade Chronicles X*
Now this is a game I liked but it’s a long game.
One day I’ll have to try Xenoblade Chronicles X! I own it too lol
It is refreshing to hear about the games people dropped :)
I have dropped:
Yes, your grace.
I totally understand!!! We can’t finish every game and are bound to leave a few behind.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate you stopping by! :)
Maybe if it gets fixed I’ll go back to it because it had a lot of promise!
Yesssssss! Love to hear this!
Glad to hear this, thank you!
Giving ourselves the chance to drop games does wonders for the backlog.
The one I regret though, is Tales of Innocence R, but my Vita memory card died on me while I was about 3/4s into the game.
Oh NO! That’s awful! What a pain!
I totally understand! We all have games that this happens with.
I hear ya! Games that exist or are mid can be a challenge and sometimes not worth continuing.
I luv ur videos Fem!! They always make me feel better thank u sm ☺️
Yayyyyy! Love that! 🔥
Not silly! I get it 100%! I am going to try Octopath 2 too and hopefully I can get to the end!
Totally fair! Yakuza 0 is one of my favs so I would say give that a try again haha
I have tried three times in my life so far to beat FFX and FFXIII. Both have sequels that I'd like to try but won't until I finally beat the first game. And I have zero desire to ever give more of my time to FFVIII. And I think I'm about to drop Chrono Cross.
Haha, I hear you on 8! Brutal!
I don’t mean to sound critical, but you are missing out with dropping these games. I recommend that you finish Chrono Cross. It’s
worth it.
I agree with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart; and Dr. Nefarious's voice almost makes me nauseous.
Yeah, super boring haha just not my thing at all!
I'm really enjoying it so far. I like the title system and Fiore is nice to look at. I just got the punchy lady, looking forward to playing as her.
@@JeannieLove I'm glad you're enjoying it. I do want to go back and finish it as it's 1 of 2 Star Ocean games I need to beat. Just for me personally it's rough to get through. Hope you continue having fun with it
I heard that SO game is brutal but I still want to try it haha
So tough! I would love to finish it but it just got to be too much.
Omg girl I have dropped SO many games; on the top of my head is Remnant, Elden Ring, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Octopath Traveler 2 and on and on haha!
I typically don’t but sometimes I HAVE TO. Like some games are just not working or they get too hard!
I definitely don’t vibe with WRPGs - only sometimes. I totally get it!
I look at BG3 as more of a Tactical RPG. It's just a major time investment.
I’ve been tempted to try Nexomon! I heard it was really hard though…is that true? How about Coromon?
@@femtrooper I found both of them to be similar to older Pokémon games in the sense that when it gets hard, you can overcome the challenge by grinding. In Nexomon Extinction you should remember to stock up on healing items though, as bosses can hit hard. Coromon has difficulty options and even custom settings for difficulty, so you can customize your experience quite a bit.
If you ever figure out what your blocker is in Octopath traveler, please let us know. I have my own blockers as well. I’m not a big fan of the grinding in the game.
Maybe…we’ll see. I’m going to give OT2 a try soon!
I agree! I am a huge advocate for easy mode!
Final Fantasy VIII is my answer to this as well! Have tried it a couple times and dropped it. It’s frustrating because I can’t pinpoint any one thing that I dislike about it - I just always end up prioritizing a different game or hobby and just moving on from it instead of progressing.
It’s definitely an odd one and the story gets really strange near the end.
@@femtrooperFinal Fantasy game stories getting really weird toward the end is a FF tradition that goes back to the very first game so I think I can tolerate that! Just need to pick it up again and force myself to finish it. Thank you!
FFX is my favorite game of all time, and you dropped it. 😮 I've beaten the game on every system it came out on except for Xbox.
Hopefully one day I’ll complete it!
Thank you so much! So many great new games it’s insane!!!
getting to yunalesca is pretty far but not quite over yet. you still have a while to go till the end. my favorite way to play FFX is Vita/PS4 using the game's cross save cloud system, lets me able to play on my Vita on the go and then transfer my save onto the PS4 and continue from there
Honestly, it has been so long I’ll just restart it at some point and try again.
This has nothing to do with this video but because you recommended xenoblade chronicles 2 in one of your kids, I went out and bout it and am glad I did.
Nice! I love that game!
I love xenoblade 2, its a shame so many people don’t like it
I wish I could do this. I have this thing about leaving a game unfinished. Can't remember the last one I dropped. I even finished Cristales! Great list though, it sucks when you pick a game up and it just doesn't click with you.
I tend to not drop games actually - I try so hard to beat a ton of games each year so it’s very hard and frustrating when I did drop one!
Alien isolation is probably my favorite game of all time. I have beaten it on the hardest difficulty and also have the platinum trophy. I usually play it at least once a year. I bought the switch port of the game when it came out just because I love it so much
That’s awesome! The game is honestly super cool. Maybe one day I’ll try it again.
Of all the games on your list here, Highly recommend re-playing Final Fantasy X (X-2 doesn’t matter)
But FF X is very rewarding for completion in regards to its narrative
I really need to! Maybe I’ll make it a priority next year.
I gave up on Octopath Traveler, also. The final boss rush was just too nuts. Then you have to fight the final final boss who has 500,000 HP! Way too hard.
Ahhhhhhh!
Haha, yes, that was my first experience with Ratchet & Clank! Super bummer but that’s okay! Really appreciate the kind words tho!
I’ll have to figure that out then! I would like to finish it.
My list of games I've dropped
1. Final Fantasy 12 (It got me so frustrated/irritated with it that broke the physical disc out of anger/rage)
2. Sekiro (That game got me so frustrated/upset that i broke my controller out of anger/rage so i quit playing it indefinitely)
3. Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 the original (I got so annoyed by Random Battles and those games have no voice acting which was boring having to read the characters dialogue)
4. Skyrim (It sucks that i haven't beaten that game)
5. Yu-gi-oh Capsule Colosseum (That game is crap and if my memory serves me correctly' i rented it from Gamefly.
6. Dino Crisis (I've never beaten the game)
7.Spellbreak (I suck at that battle royale game and i got so annoyed with losing at solo matches)
8. Fortnite (I suck at it, i never won at least one solo match, i temporary returned to the game in 2022 because of the Dragonball collab that they did for the first time that has the Goku skin and Dragonball festivities but the game is currently not on my hard drive.
9. The Sims 4 (It's a boring real-life simulator)
Yay! Love the list!
@@femtrooper Thank you,
FF8 is a really weird game. I actually appreciate how breakable it is once you understand how it works. Whether or not you like the game basically comes down to how much you enjoy Triple Triad.
Yeah, I definitely didn’t like that lol
Interesting list. Sad to see Rift apart on here but I totally understand. Looking at my back log for this year, the recent games I’ve dropped were The legendary Starfy on Ds and Yakuza 4. The ending was too much and I wasn’t enjoying it. I looked up the ending online. I’ll jump into yakuza 5 at a later date.
Interesting! Yakuza 4 is my next Yakuza game I need to play actually!
FF8 is my favorite Final Fantasy. You really gotta know what you're doing in that one. And if you master the card game you can really acquire some serious power.
I definitely didn’t click with the junction system lol
Completely agree on monster crown. I just picked it up again to try finishing it after setting it down for a few months. I'm so close to the end but just couldn't bring myself to finish it. It definitely does get a bit boring and bland feeling to say the least. Glitches definitely pulled me out of the experience more than I would've liked. I highly recommend nexomon for a pokemon fix or even a pokemon rom hack. I have been playing pokemon prism and it has been a blast
Okay, this is incredibly helpful! Glad you felt the same way! How is Nexomon? I heard it was really hard…is that true?
Fair enough! I would be willing to check that out! And yeah, bummed Monster Crown got annoying but that’s okay! Worth trying for sure!
The junction system is awful lol haha
Ratchet and clank did feel generic at first but i stuck with it and i dig it.
For farming games...i get addicted to them in a way that feels unhealthy, so i avoid them. Same with mmo games.
I did a low level playthrough of ff8 recently. Just draw magic, and run away. Junction magic to your stats and keep your level low. It's still not easy but it was interesting and fun.
I’ll have to give FF8 another try.
Random games I've dropped: Wargroove 1, Resident E 7, Xcom 2, FF 15, and Octopath traveller 1 too. And like you, I got the 2nd one with hopes that I like better than the 1st one 😅🤞
Let’s hope it’s a good experience for both of us!
Totally get it! Lots of older games I can’t handle either!
Octopath is super grindy, but I've been using it as my morning coffee game so I don't mind, honestly
I like this!
It happens! All good! :)
I was wondering about that game! I think I’ll hold off for now.
100% with you on Alien Isolation. I thought it was great and very atmospheric for a while, but fear faded fast in favor of tedium as I kept dying and losing progress. My attitude to the alien went from "AAHHHH" to "oh for fucks sake," and that's not great
Omg this is sooooooo accurate!!!
All of these are 10/10 in my opinion:
Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X-X-2, Octopath Traveler 1 & 2, Rotchet and Clank: Rift Apart
I respect your opinion. it is shocking to me that games that I love and are 10/10 in my opinion someone else doesn't like and dropped.
What hurts is when we pay full price then don't want to play it for more than 2 hours.
Definitely! That’s why I like physical because if it’s that bad and I don’t want it I can at least trade it in.
Really fun video! I enjoyed some of the stories behind other attempts. Thumbs up!
Thank you!!!
As a big fan of octopath traveler who spent 150 hours on the first i'll say yes a difficulty option would be great
Man, I wish!!!
That’s amazing!
Great video. We should collaborate one day. Love you style of videos!
Thank you!!! Really appreciate that! And yeah, I’m all about the collabs!
Interesting stuff! Maybe I’ll go back to it.
Got through 4 characters stories in octopath and just couldn't keep spending hours leveling up the next characters
I know! It was brutal!
PLAY CASSETTE BEASTS!!! Donno if you've tried it yet- but the best pokemon game on switch (or at least tied with Legends Arcues) is Cassette Beasts. I think you'll love it. Me and my wife are playing multiplayer.
Oh really!!!??? I’ve heard of it and I want to try it! Is it difficult?
I had very similar experience with FF8, I got very close to the end, I wonder if it was the same boss you were stuck at. My mistake was not understanding the parcel scaling with enemies at the time. I had just finished FF7 after max leveling all my characters and grinding for hours on end to just make the game last longer. Well that was my approach with FF8 and it didn't pan out well
Haha yeah, I probably had no idea what I was going with the battle system 😅
@@femtrooper level-scaling with enemies*
I had the same experience with Octopath Traveller as you Paige. I loved how the game looked and really enjoyed the first few hours, then the difficulty spike diminished my interest in the game. Still hopeful that I will get back to it someday and also want to get in to Octopath 2.
Yeah, I’ll try the second one for sure!
I've had the opposite happen recently with the Witcher 3. Tried to get into in a few times and it never really clicked for me. Husband convinced me to give it one more try after giving me some tips (it's one of his favorites) and I've been unable to put it down.
That’s a nice change!
