Ronaldinho was Messis mentor when he was 17. However, they did not play long together due to Ronaldinhos prime being short, he liked to party to much. But Messi was very shy back then, and Ronaldinho took him under his wing when he was the SUPERSTAR. They have a great relationship.
"Ronaldinho, who was a good friend, I was talking with him and he told me, 'Kobe, look I'm going to introduce you to the guy who is going to be the greatest player of all time.'
"I said, 'You what? You are the best.'
"But he said, 'No, no. This kid right here is going to be the best.'
"And that guy was Lionel Messi, who was only 17."
The ballon d’or is basically the award for the best player like an MVP award in USA lingo. Messi has the most in history (7) and is about to get his 8th this coming October (his chances are very high because he won the World Cup.) before he started winning them the most a player had ever won was 3 ballon d’ors, but from 2009-2012 he won 4 in a row consecutively. He was getting called the greatest ever by 2011.
A lot of people argue about his peak but his ultimate peak as a player was 2011/12. In 2012 he scored the most goals EVER in a year (91), while simultaneously holding the record STILL for most assists in a season..then 2014/15 season follows, 2009/10 and then 2018/19. Greatest dribbler of all time, greatest finisher of all time AND greatest playmaker of all time. He’s simply an alien for what he’s done and no trophy can describe his quality as a player honestly
Wow. He set the record for goals and assists in the same year. He is an alien 👽
@@bigkevreacts That's not what he said though. He was holding the record for most assists in a calendar year, and scored 91 the year after. Dusan Tadic holds the record for most assists in a calendar year by now but nobody measures accomplishments in calendar years in football anyway. He might have been the greatest dribbler of all time but it's close between him and Maradona or even Ronaldinho. Old-schoolers would say it's Stanley Matthews. Surely not the greatest finisher or playmaker of all time though. He is the GOAT but saying he was the best at everything goes way too far.
@@Bartleby1892 Your comment is wrong on so many levels. No offence, but I recommend you delete it.
Firstly, Messi broke the record for most assists in a single year back in 2011 with a total of 37. The year after (2012) he broke the record for most goals in a single year with a total of 91.
His goal record is undoubtedly unbeatable and his assist record was also believed to be too until in 2021, Tadic matched (not broke) his assist record by also providing 37 assists in a single year (though in a much worse league).
And you also said that ‘nobody measures accomplishments in a calendar year anyway’. This is straight up false. Until very recently every single Ballon d’Or was measured by what the player had accomplished in the year of.
You recognise that he’s the greatest dribbler of all time, and of course he is. No matter the condition he was in, whether young or old, fat or thin, fast or slow, Messi has always maintained dribbling excellence over the entirety of his career.
In terms of being the greatest finisher, well that’s debatable. The eye test would say otherwise but if you look just at statistics he’s certainly in the conversation, having an absurd goal to game ratio and a shot to goal ratio spanning across 15 years minimum. You make it sound as if it’s a sure thing but honestly if someone said to me that Messi is the greatest finisher of all time, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.
And greatest playmaker of all time? Yes, easily. No Goalscorer has ever had 300+ Assists and No Playmaker has ever had 800+ Goals, Messi has both. On top of his truly elite vision, passing (short/ long range, across ground/ air), incredible IQ (in that he almost always picks out the best decision possible) and unique ability to create goals out of nothing he really is indisputable.
@@f5anabolic You advice me to delete my comment but it seems your opinion doesn't differ too much from mine. I admit that concerning the calendar year thing you catch me with a technicality. The Ballon D'or jury cares about it.
You agree with me on the eye test concerning his finishing. His great dribbling skills put him into great spots, that's how I would explain his great ratio. And he is indeed a great finisher, but saying he is the greatest finisher of all time is disrespectful to a lot of great players. Heading is also a part of the game and Messi at least loses points there. Messi is the greater player but Cristiano is the better finisher. In terms of raw finishing I don't even think he is ahead of someone like Batistuta. But that's surely subjective.
Concerning playmaking we must have different definitions of the term or else I hard disagree. In Messi's Barca, Xavi, Busquets, or Iniesta were the playmakers. Other great playmakers in recent history are players like Pirlo, Modric, Fabregas. Goals and assists don't say who the playmaker is; ball contacts, ball possession, passes that lead to assists, opponents overplayed - those stats would be more relevant to this particular discussion.
@@Bartleby1892 Fair enough. You make some great points.
Your point on Messi having great stats in the finishing department because of the positions he gets himself into is especially accurate.
And I agree that in the early 2010’s Xavi was the playmaker of the team, not Messi. However I truly believe that in the 2nd part of his career when his pace began to dwindle and he took a deeper role into midfield thanks to the departures and/ or decline of Xavi/ Iniesta, Messi truly cemented himself as the greatest playmaker of all time.
As enjoyable as it was to see Messi burst past opposition with exhilarating pace and power I also had enormous joy in seeing Messi dictate play, dropping deeper dancing with defenders, playing beautiful passes both long and short and scoring a lot from outside the box (including many Fk’s).
2019 is a year that despite much heartbreak was also a time we got to see Messi at arguably his most complete being a revolutionary playmaker that could genuinely do it all.
Ballon Dor is like the individual world cup for players! Messi has the most Ballon Dors/ Golden balls in football's history! 🐐❤️
Yeah he's incredible to watch.
Messi is a striker, and Argentina always had problem with the defense. That was always the problem. But finally he got his World Cup!
He win the world cup and also his 8 th ballan d or
The undisputed greatest player ever in the history of mankind! 🐐
Messi - undisputed Goat 🐐
Great reaction dude, I love to see someone reacting having some real understanding, and you get it - thank you 👍😊
Glad you enjoyed
Messi is also statistically making every team perform better overall. He was one center piece in this Barca team, but Iniesta, Xavi, Alonso, Pedro... that team was stacked with players that were one of a kind.
🐐🐐🐐
Enjoy him on USA soil. You can get to see the best in action.
Messi has faster reaction than normal people, he sees the direction the goalkeeper will jump and kicks the other way...
44 trophes in his career.
Wow.. That's a big nunber.
@@bigkevreacts record
@@bigkevreacts some people are really good at sport
Some people have great nos
Some people have more titles
Some people have more MVPs
Some people mave you love the sport like no one else no matter there accolades
Some people are great human beings with great humility
Some people are great mentors and leaders
I have seen different people filling up those places in a single sport
And
There is MESSI 🐐 who fills up each and every single thing when he literally plays the world's biggest sports
Look at the odds
It's insane
If an Engineer created a footballer it would be Ronaldo.
If a Wizard created a footballer it would be Messi.
That's the difference between the two of the greats the game has ever seen
Nicely put :)
messi was great but trust me that whole barcelona team was stacked regardless they definitely made him the centerpiece though
Messi most scores and most ballon d’or.
You should check SUAREZ one of the best strikers
Ronaldo has more scores but messi has more trophies. All though Ronaldo doesnt have that many more goals than Messi. But what needs to be remembered is that it is all about the place and time. Some of the best players in the last 20 years have very little in achivements but when you saw them play you understood their talent.
👆🐐👆👑👑⚽
Thank you for reacting to the King of my favourite sport.
Other players you should probably learn about are Pele, Maradona, Ronaldinio, Fenomeno, Neymar , Cristiano, Mbappe, Zlatan, Xavi , Iniesta, Modric and a couple more goalkeepers and defenders like Bufon ,Noyer , Maldini , Ramos, Pique, De Rossi , Lev Yashin.
Any other Messi reaction from you will get a like and a GOAT emoji from me as well. 💪
Thanks for all the great suggestions.. I'll be sure to start reacting to these players going forward. I've already got a couple more Messi ones lined up before I move on to Ronaldo and the rest.
Renaldo even pushes the coach. Total disrespect.
Renaldo is not Lionel’s mentor. He has been an opponent since Lionel turn 17 yrs old. Renaldo is two years older than Lionel and Lionel stats beat everyone in the world. There is respect between the two players because Renaldo is good but Lionel is fantastic. That’s my opinion.
He plays the ball but don’t get it wrong he’s the fastest on the pitch running with the ball.
Messi fail in 4 finals for his country, copa america 2007, 2015, 2016 and in world cup 2014.
