Oh thank you for sharings this wonderful ideas of hanging air plants with floral wires on plastic chain. Recently bought a few of these guys but I stay in an apartment with little spaces so I am going to try on your idea...awesomes...
That huge bromilliad should have some adorable little frogs living on it and laying eggs in the water that collects between the leaves. Aww, please get some cute little frogs!!! :D
ooooh they are gorgeous! And it looks like they won't develop venom if they're kept away from their natural habitat. But I'm afraid your pet carnivores might eat them :(
What a nice collection of Airplants you have there Brad. I have a few of them also - I hope mine do as well as yours - it looks like everything U have has spikes on it. Picked up a used air conditioner the other day for my greenhouse - I think I have happy plants.
He was out of two of the Dracula's that I wanted and he hasn't gotten back to me about my order. So no :( but I did pick up some mini Phals and I mounted them on some cork & they look really good
Wow! Great video Brad I myself have a collection of air plants and I just started to grow them, I thought I would just give it a try and they are really interesting and fun plants to grow! Gr8 view video by the way
Hi Brad. Awesome informative videos. Question. I have a young Tillandsia Cyanea I got that looks like its finished blooming, I would like to mount it to a piece of driftwood. Is there a particular time to do it and is it ok to just take it out of its current pot of peat and just secure it to the driftwood with roots exposed? I believe there is a new offset growing now. Cool plant but its new to me however since its an air plant, I would like to see it mounted more naturally. Thank you
I love all your air plants, but I don,t have as many as yours. Just started to collect and l have bought a Tillandsia with pink base/purple flower at the side. So pretty and I also love gardening.
This was so helpful for ideas! I had lots of those green Christmas ornament wires and they've worked perfectly to hang my new tiny Tillandsias. I'm curious if there is anything you need to do to induce blooming from these guys or if they just need overall proper care.
Hey Brad, awesome plants and vids. I work as a land surveyor in wetlands and find and collect air plants. How do you trim them to get rid of the dead leaves on the bottom? Just curious. But I'm definitely stealing the chain and floral wire idea. So simple yet elegant. Thanks and keep makin great vids.
I have the same. Bromiliad as the one here that I've inherited and its dying. Idk if it dies after blooming or growing pups or not but it just doesnt like any way I have tried to keep it. It had i pup when i got it that came off, but idk if it flowered. The pup is doing great. And my other bromiliads are doing just fine. But this one just doesnt want to live. And because idk what species it is, it's hard to know if there is any specific care, or soil, no soil, etc.
I thought that somewhere I had seen something that said that airplants should be hung so that the water cannot pool in the center of them, but yours are doing so well that this must not be true. Do you feed them?
Yes, that would be very true you wouldn't want to let water sitt in the crown for very long. Just like with a orchids water in the crown would rot them so you just have to be careful and turn them upside down and let them to dry if you suspect that water has somehow gotten in there
Hey brad I wanted to follow up on my previous suggestion on feeding the ampullaria organic matter, if you have I would like to know how they're doing and if it's helped
I put a few bits of dry oak leaves in the pitchers. I'm not sure if it helped or not. I've moved the lowlanders out into the chamber in the greenhouse. They now get 95f days and 68-70f nights. Warmer than they have ever been and they all have double their grow rate and I notice big leaf jump size in a couple of them. I'll do a video on the chamber for next weekend.
Okay cool they're basically lowii as in they will even eat shrew poop in the wild because the lids don't block anything from entering the pitchers like other nepenthes
The first Neoregelia is probably Neoregelia Fireball, an unknown species/hybird (it hasn't been fully identified as a species or hybrid for a long time, search on google the neoregelia fireball mystery and go to "solving the fireball mystery to find more about it's weird history)
I have a green with red banding Nero. bromeliad that stays small like yours . Let me know if you are willing to trade a pup I can ship you one if you want to trade with me for a pup of yours ?

Totally true, I like the blue poison dart frog and they could eat the ants in here to!

New plants

The hook you used to hang the pot off the chain....what does it look like? How does it attach and hold the pot? Thx!
love this one :) how do you water air plants that have spikes on them or in bloom?
I spray them or dunk them just the same. I try to keep the spike dry
Hii, I recently got an air plant, but I dont know what kind it is. It looks like grass , it's leaves stick straight up .
I thought that somewhere I had seen something that said that airplants should be hung so that the water cannot pool in the center of them, but yours are doing so well that this must not be true. Do you feed them?

Is it ok to watering bomeliad ana thylansia twice in weak ?

what gauge foral wire do you use?
Bromeliads are generally forced to flower when they're 3/4 of their adult size, the keiki's will actually get larger than the mother plant.
The stiff leaf Tillandsia is Tillandsia Ixioides, should have yellow flowers.
The first Neoregelia is probably Neoregelia Fireball, an unknown species/hybird (it hasn't been fully identified as a species or hybrid for a long time, search on google the neoregelia fireball mystery and go to "solving the fireball mystery to find more about it's weird history)
yeah, it does look kind of like Fireball, the thing was green when I bought it.
Mine was green when I bought it, also.
The one that you don't have a tag for looks like a Caput Madusae
Thanks, Just google it, your right. It now has a tag.
Tiilandsia Ionantha is the genre. Not sure of the specific name. Tillandsia Ionatha would be like saying Orchid Cattleya or Orchid Oncidium.
Aren't tillandsias a type of bromeliad?
+TheEarthCreature Yeah they're a subfamily.
Zap-straps? Is that a Canadian thing? We call 'em zip-ties
scubadrew9292 Haha funny, im not sure if it is a Canada thing. wikipedia says A cable tie or tie-wrap, also known as a hose tie, zap-strap, ZIP TIE.

Your video is 13 minutes and 37 seconds long. Coincidence, I think not!
It’s so beautiful 🤩
