Years and years ago (long before internet) I thought I would embroider on printed fabric samples... in my 8th decade and happy to see the idea is not so 'off beat' after all.😊
This video stumbled across my feed and I feel so much JOY at looking at your art and realizing that this is where to take my own creativity next! Beautiful work! Inspirational! Bravo! ❤
This is how I learnt to do all my stitching as a 7 year old over 40 years ago. My nana would give me a old donna cover and embroidery threads and then I would just sit and stitch. This has brought back lots of memories
Wow! Your work is amazing and so inspiring. I have only made small slow stitch patchworks so far and my embroidery skills leave a little (well, a lot) to be desired lol. You have definitely won a fan here. ❤️😊🌺
I have embellished fabric with beads and embroidery but I never thought to just use the fabric motifs as a pattern. It is very intriguing. I love that blueprint by Monday.❤️
I had done this for a while, not even knowing this is a thing. My recent project was to just embroidery a piece of fabric that had flowers on it, and it turned out pretty good, and loads of texture as you use different threads, and will probably add beads, not right now though as I have had about enough of beads for now. Love your work Nichole!!
I have been doing this too for a long time, though I usually use a piece of cheap fabric with a pretty picture or pattern, I reinforce it at the back and stitch it , but I have never used beads or sequins. They look lovely and your fabrics are beautiful.
@@Wildboho dear one, you have interesting family name bird singer - it's not accidentally - Nomen est omen. It's your purpose to create beauty. God bless you
You must get totally lost in it, another world. Pure Mindfulness project, beautiful. I do lots of sewing but need basics on embroidery stitches..do you show that? X
It’s so easy to just get lost in a project like this and I really do! Yes! I have lots of embroidery videos that teach you stitch by stitch. I’ll link it here: th-cam.com/play/PLmPe_2JkfkI_ijPX5PDM4B7F8ejx9zGeM.html&si=ABaPQqUwtNT45_pX
A lot of my fabric comes from online shops. I love www.alewivesfabrics.com, www.hawthornesupplyco.com, www.handcrafthappyhour.com and I always try to find little fabric shops on Etsy too!
If you search "clear flat sequins" on Etsy, there are lots there! I can't remember which shop I bought them from but I definitely found them on Etsy!! I hope that helps!
So when I’m stitching a hoop like this, I’m working all over the place with beads and embroidery. If I’m working in the lower left and want to do something in the upper right, I generally will not carry my thread that distance. So I’ll tie off my thread in the lower left before I move to the next section. If I’m just moving from one area to another and it’s not a big jump, I’ll keep stitching with the same continuous piece of thread. I hope that answers your question!
Does using someone’s design in a fabric for your own work violate their copyright? I love your idea, but I think there’s an issue here. Look at the selvage of a lot of fabric and you’ll see copyright claimed for the design.😮
Probably not, because by the time she’s done, it doesn’t look exactly like the original fabric. I often do this as well and it look amazing when it’s done .
How could the way she uses the fabric differ from using fabrics in quilts?? You certainly can sell the fabric if you’ve used it in a quilt. I’m not a copyright lawyer, but I can’t see her violating any laws here.
Thank you for bringing this up. I have researched it and spoken to fabric designers about it. I always credit the fabric that I use and tag the artists who have designed it. Fabric is put out there for us to use, however we like to craft with it!

Thank you so much! Reinforcing it is completely optional and I always say it's personal preference!! Beads and sequins are definitely a fun addition!
I am going to give this a try I think as I want to improve my skill with smaller pieces. Thank you!
Wonderful! This is absolutely the perfect sort of project to practice stitches and techniques!

I just found your channel. Your work is gorgeous. Have you ever stretched your work over comtemorary square frames or paint these hoop frames?
Thank you so much!! And, yes to both!! I have a hoop painting video coming out soon!
@@Wildboho awesome. Ty for letting me know. I'd love like to try that.
I had a question, if you need to move to a different area to bead, but you are using a hoop. How do you do so without messing up the beading?
So when I’m stitching a hoop like this, I’m working all over the place with beads and embroidery. If I’m working in the lower left and want to do something in the upper right, I generally will not carry my thread that distance. So I’ll tie off my thread in the lower left before I move to the next section. Would the fact that she’s not selling the work, just making it for personal consumption make a difference? It sure looks beautiful.
