@Puseye2 that is a harsh judgement. what i see here is a brave man true to himself. there he is now: never too old to Rock'n'Roll if he's too young to die.
6 ppl don't understand music... plain n' simple...; OH, how I wish I'd have seen him w/ the orig. Jethro Tull back in the 70's... ahhhh, thnx f/ youtube vids...!
wow ive always heard of this band but ive never heard their music... this is the first song ive heard from them and its actually really great music. very good music to drive to
This is NOT the real Jethro Tull. That incredible, magnificent band ended after STORMWATCH. What you see now is side men. Anderson and Barre is all that remain of this once majestic band. The band that gave us Benefit, Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, APP, War Child, MITG, SFTW, Heavy Horses and Stormwatch. Anderson should be ashamed of himself.
I think this is the result of culture from the same place but at different times, crossed. That is the same as saying remake the same culture as always but with a different perspective. Never the same man cross the same river.
Damn, somewhere in heaven Bach´s smiling and raping the replay button on this song. One thing is true, no one will ever play the flute like Ian Anderson, we have to thank god for giving us Jethro Tull
Együtt vágtatunk a végtelenbe, hajszolva egymást űző futamok vad lovasát, szédülve, kerengve szívjuk a szúrós verejték szagot! Majd higgadva térdelünk a dallam szőttesén, ujjbegyében ránduló idegszállal kelta, skót, ír, vallon motívumot hímez, vagy halkuló
Excellent morceau et super groupe. Vu à Bruxelles (Belgique) en 2007. Ian Anderson est exceptionnel. A découvrir ou (re)découvrir l'album "Aqualung" 1970 Amicalement,...
"Back in the day", I thought this was a Jethro Tull "original"--only later did I realize it was taken from Bach. Then again, I wasn't much into the "Classics" as a teenager. Good post. --Van
Please don't forget one other scotching rock flute player: Dutchman Thijs Van Leer of Focus. With amazing rock guitarist Jan Akkerman their worldwide gold LP "Moving Waves" included "Hocus Pocus" which was incredible. Focus lasted many years, & though not as renown as Jethro Tull, their fame is international. Focus & Van Leer continue to perform & record to this day. Sold over 5 million lps worldwide since 1971. Van Leer was Ian Anderson's only credible rock competition.
I watched an Ian Anderson interview on you tube and he (Ian) said "and my daughter came home from school and told me my fingering was wrong." I also saw a photo on the HONY (Humans Of New York) blog of an elderly woman, the caption read "as an artist you have to learn when to say "fuck the rules." .......go figure
When the band was young, Ian used to stand like that....a bit of a trademark I suppose.... Just seen him in concert in cardiif last month./.....very good but prefer the first 4 albums....real original Tull. If theres anything else ?........
Suonate bastardamente bene! Maledetti! Scommetto che vi vengono intonati anche i rutti ...
He's something else on that flute the Jethro Tull trademark sound.
amazing, thi guy is my father's hero xD
mine is jimmy page but still this guy rocks
Great! I like all the versions! I think only musiciants can understand how deepest that stuff! Ave Jethro Tull! Horrible great!
@Puseye2

I used to play Bouree on my violin, but Ian kicks my ass...I need a new set of strings or something, because this has inspired me! Thank you :)
Simply one of the greatest classical adaptations ever!
Definitely.
They were of course better in the beginning, when Ian still had his vocal chords left. Good fluting though.
Just awesome! I've never seen a man playing a flut as fantastic as Ian Anderson! Just great
Did Ian find this bass player in an LA dumpster or something?
Simplesmente recomendo.
6 ppl don't understand music... plain n' simple...; OH, how I wish I'd have seen him w/ the orig. Jethro Tull back in the 70's... ahhhh, thnx f/ youtube vids...!
Join the que.
At about 4:10, Ian starts exploding too much awesomeness at once. Any more, and the stage would burst into flame.
wow ive always heard of this band but ive never heard their music... this is the first song ive heard from them and its actually really great music. very good music to drive to
Thank God for Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson :-)
I love the way he goes mental at the end!

Okay so I'm a flute player myself, and hearing this, OH MY GOSH I AM GEEKING OUT!!!!!! That is like beyond incredible. This guy is like my new hero!!!

THINKS A LOT FIRST I LISTEN TO ""BOUREE" IT WAS IN 1976 OH MY GOD

Every song by these fantastic musicians brings a smile to my face thank you and God bless everyone from Patrick
Now, is it just me, or has dear old Andy Giddings put a couple of syntheziers on a Hammond B3 "case"? Please correct me if I'm wrong!

How can someone dislike this? what do they listen to? Rihanna or Shakira? I dont even know how to spell their name. Viva la vera musica
Excellent morceau et super groupe. Vu à Bruxelles (Belgique) en 2007. Ian Anderson est exceptionnel. A découvrir ou (re)découvrir l'album "Aqualung" 1970 Amicalement,...
it isn't a song ... how can it be a song when there is no fucking lyric ... it is a musical piece and well for the look, who care ?
I love Jethro Tull :-)
@mikkel1881 Yes you're right, it's just a widespread expression. I didn't mean to start any Atheism vs. Religion debate.
Johann Sebastian Back wrote this Bouree BWV 966. Written in the 18th Century probably. Tull updates it a bit. :)
impecable.
Your bang on and he's never done a bad version.
Think Krishna and Kokopelli, are shown standing on one leg but not sure if he knew this when he did it.
my favourite band ever, with their worst bass-player ever! even my worst student would make something better
John Noyce. He is not the worst in the world, but then again Glen was one of the best in the world.
very cool band!
Supposedly he started standing on one leg while playing the harmonica. It was just showmanship I think.
Pouce vert les français qui connaissaient pas la chanson et qui ont trouvé le titre bizarre xD
Sembra un cinghiale ferito da come si muove sul palco. Assolutamente ridicolo...
He's Ian Anderson, therefore he can do what he wants and look cool while doing it.
Is that Martin Barre on guitar with Ian Anderson in this video?
Ian Anderson is fantstic. What about you Tom Møller. Do you remeber the time?
Actually Joan Sebastian Bach was in the baroque, not in the classic.
Reagds.
If only i cold play that good on the flute ...
Tull owns everything =DDDD
Amazing! but bass solo not as good as Glenn Cornick unfortunately
Esse cara é do caraio!!!! Muito bom
The word above is "scorching." Sorry for the mis-spelling.
Some jerk prettending to play Bass with the real :Jethro Tull"
so what?
people say that about "the edge" and his guitar solos
Ian is the only man that can rock out with flute. so bad ass.
He's not the only one. He's the best one.
its amazing but what's the point of the snarl that he does
And than there was one god who call himself Ian Anderson.
questa si che è MUSICA!!!
"Back in the day", I thought this was a Jethro Tull "original"--only later did I realize it was taken from Bach. Then again, I wasn't much into the "Classics" as a teenager.
Good post.

If I have to explain it....you wouldn't understand it .
Ehi, don't you mind about Thijs Van Leer? :D
I've often felt his vestuples were gritty actually
@MrDelhan You are so right! FLUTE IS ROCK, DUUDE!!!
Can you imagine? It has not anything to do with the fucking politics.
