Excellent, Tommy! One tip for M2 and M4 owners--since we have frameless windows (unlike the M3 sedan), you need to "reinitialize" the windows after reconnecting the battery by putting them down, then back up, with the car on. If the driver's door is open with the window up when the battery is disconnected and then reconnected, the system is a bit confused and will not automatically lower the window a slight amount to allow the door to close. As a result, the top of the window can strike the weatherstripping and cause damage or break when you close the door.

Good tutorial. Only thing not mentioned was if you have DCT and paddle shifters will need to remove them to get at the rear screw for the button module to release. They are attached by another torx #20 inner to the module screw assembly. Broke mine off not seeing it and not fully releasing. Had to glue it back into place on the wheel but that’s okay as no plans to reverse this modification on my car.

Hey Tommy. I just installed the same M1M2 buttons on my 2016 M3. It was almost as easy as your video! I hit only one minor snag and that was I have OEM paddle shifters and they covered the small hole on the back of the unit holding the buttons. It was an easy one-extra screw removal to move the shifter out of the way and continue on. BTW...have you done a vid on installing after-market paddle shifters? If not could you? Thanks again!
