I think this is great...you showing how to 're-implement' your organizing systems. It is important to show how and why you have come up with new ideas. I'm sure it will throw a wrench in the gears to those who only have copied what you had done before instead of actually setting up their own systems. I appreciate you.
Alejandra, My mom was an alcoholic she had lots of legitimate problems and was not able to teach me how to manage a home.We have 5 kiddos and I have hit the crossroads of insanity due to a lack of organization. Each month I tackle a new project and each month, my life becomes easier and so much more manageable. Even simple things like finding a place for everything. This month is finances and I'll be ordering the freedom filer in the next couple of days.I am very grateful for your help!
I used your idea at work! I took the folders with the inside pocket on each side, labeled the outside top with each of the tasks and information on how to do that task in that folder.I have about 7 tasks that we have to do daily and this makes it sooo easy!! I grab the folder and I have all the information I need ready to go!! No flipping binder pages or digging through piles of papers, its all in one folder! Love it!!! Thank you Alejandra!!
I followed your example and got myself the Freedom Filer system. I'm not being dramatic when I say it changed my life. It's so simple to implement and keeps that dreaded "pile" of mail from totally stressing me out. They do provide tabs that I can keep on files in my desktop system so I use those in a system similar to this. I love your videos! Thanks for putting this together.
Omg you are a goddess! I happened across your videos because I was pulling my hair out with my endless dvd collection. You saved me on that. Now I'm watching how to declutter my papers & organize that endless heap. Thank you! I am starting some serious spring cleaning. You are awesome I'm sharing your videos on Facebook with friends & family who also share in the clutter mayhem!
You are great. I found the acrylics at Office Max and the divide it up folders. I have spent the last 5 days cleaning and organizing my work desk. Your videos have been so helpful. A lot of the organization videos just say set a timer for 30 minutes and you'll be done. This takes time especially if things have gotten out of control. I am going to a container store about an hour away on Saturday. So excited. Thank you so much.
Oh one tip I changed was I used clear colored folders instead of the paper so I can see them. I also like to see my things and you have shown me how to do it effectively. Thank you again.
So, so good! I went out and bought all of the things you show in this video and have just finished demolishing the wretched pile o' junk on my kitchen counter. Thank you for making this so clear!
Awesome. I should do this for my desk. I've been looking for a simple way to corral all of my papers without loosing sight of them and without them looking messy.
Great ideas!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Yes, I'd love to see how you set up your filing cabinet!!! I'm in the process of getting a handle on our mail...it's been quite a chore, but it's so nice to know right where everything is and not spend time searching!!! Thank you for all your tips and techniques!! ~Tammy
Thanks for your tips. They are really helpful. I am about to organise my home office and home in general but am the least organised person in the world. Your videos are the next best thing to flying you out to my home in England and hiring you to help me deal with my messy home, business and life. lol
I loved this Idea, I'm having to not oly take care of my paper work, but My mother's ( who has dementia, and looses things often) and My brother who well, he does not know how to file, how to keep up with very Important documents, ( deeds, Title's, etc.) and as you can imagine I have TON'S of mail, or paper work to keep up with, and this has helped me a great deal! THANK YOU
I love your videos. I get so caught up in watching them. I've been distracted watching your videos instead of working on my homework lol. But it really gives me the urge to clean and organize because I love how things look. You're so creative in your way of organizing everything.
Alejandra!! I love your videos! Could you please do one about how you organize your emails? This seems like such an insurmountable task to me.I'm sure you have a great system and insight. Thanks!
Thank you so very much. You are providing such a valuable service to those of us who are visual beings. I have bought so many organising 'apps' that whilst great are not in my face so never get used. Youre a gem!
You convinced me to use the Freedom Filer as well as others in earlier posts! I LOVE IT!! It really makes filing SO much easier. I feel like a huge load is off my shoulders now that I have everything perfectly organized. I ended up having to bring 3 huge trash bags to my financial planner's office to dump in their shredder bin!!
Most of the vlogs that I watch I don't quite identify with or find annoying BUT your organization is the closest to what I would want to use for my daily uses.
Excellent video, I love watching all your videos! I have a business too and its great to see your operation systems are similar to mine. One thing I think about quite often is how to get my car exceptionally organised as I am a business woman and a mum and need extra tips please! Many thanks and you're videos are great, I tell all my colleagues about it and make them watch your videos too! xxx
I'm in love with using those color coded contents tabs for a lists binder....I'm a major list person too and have created some versions that have not held up...but I'm excited to try this one. :) THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
nice idea with the file folders in the staircase file holder. I like that idea but my desk is pretty small and it would take up a lot of real estate on it. my system is similar but instead the manilla folders are in cubbies that is built into my desk, i have similarly labelled categories like papers to file, bills to pay, papers that need my immediate attention, etc
Thank you for doing this video. Love it. I watched it 2 years ago, and again recently. You briefly show your quickbooks folder. Could you do a more in depth video on how you do monthly tracking of financial records (like financial organization)? I'd appreciate it
I would love a video on exactly what you do keep in your files and what can get tossed.....So afraid to be audited and have to scramble...... Thanks a bunch!
I would love to see an indepth video on handling receipts your process with dealing with them and handling checkbook. I use debit a lot and can not seem to come up with a good system without being overwhelmed.
Can you please do a video on what helps you stay structured? How do you set goals? How do you make sure you accomplish what you want each day? Thanks. Love your videos!
Love the file sorter you have on your desk, but couldn't find it at staples. I only found one that was a smoke color and didn't really look that much like this one. I like the fact that the one you have is clear and slightly graduated, rather than smoke colored and extremely graduated.
I'm a Virgo too!! and it makes me crazy when things aren't organized properly.....I recently moved - because of a divorce - and I am completely unorganized and struggling to get back to my normal. These videos are inspiring me to get there sooner than later. I was curious about the Virgo thing too! :) I am going to use this incoming mail step up sorter on my desk at work - my assistant can sort my incoming mail before I have to even look at it!! Brilliant!
Can you do a desk/office tour? It would be very helpful to me right now I'm trying to reorganize my office. thanks for your video's I love them! Georgia
I have a similar system, but I have these files in the front of the top drawer of my file cabinet for quick access. I don't like all that on my desktop cause I like to do crafts there, so I like it a bit clearer, or have some of my craft stuff out. Alejandra is the organizing master jedi! I would like to know how she organizes her household tasks and cleaning, if she has a system for that.
Okay I did this and I now noticed you have a different mailing system in your "how to organize your desk video" which do you like best and what do you use the older products for now like the Rubbermaid item. Getting overwhelmed. I did just cover an old black filing cabinet with hand stamped palm trees cactus green with white contact paper and put wheels on it since I have such a small office space. Thanks for the ideas.
TO me having things organized makes it easier when you move. You will know where things go and you have no need to have the wondering idea of where to put it. I am reorganizing my Craft room/art studio/office.
My city gave everyone 2 recycling bins for free. One is for paper type things, the other is for bottles. We just fill them up as we need to, and they stay in the corner of our porch. Then on recycling day, we put them on the curb (: And for pop cans, we wash them out in the sink, turn them upside down in the dish drying rack by the sink, then put them in the cardboard carriers when it's time to take them to the store.
Cool! Mail question-what do you do with items that don't fall into "call/ask/cancel" or "bills to pay" but is not ready to be filed? That seems to be the kind of mail that gives me trouble and when I need it, I can't locate it easily. Such as insurance forms to be filled out but I don't have time when I'm opening the mail, a Staples coupon I want to use next time I go, etc.
How do you know when to pay the bill if they are due on different dates? I use an accordion file with 0-31 date dividers and stick the bill in on the date it is due
I can't find a file sorter with the stairsteps and the enclosed sides anywhere! Looked all over at Office Max. We don't have a local Staples but I searched online and couldn't find one. Searched Amazon and still can't find one. Can anyone help? Thanks!!
Can you clarify why you have the "Ideas I want to do" folder and also the "project board with sticky notes"? Just not sure why you would need both. Thanks! Love your videos!
Great video! I know this video was made a year ago, but I can't find this particular organizer. I'm in the U.S. I've looked at staples, amazon, walmart. They all carry a 3 pocket organizer, but they look less stable-- like they would tip over. Can someone please give me the name and/location for this exact item? Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing! This is by far my #1 organizing problem at my home - taking control of the paper. At this very moment I am looking for a receipt for an item I need to return that is about to expire! Argh! lol See what I mean?! What is the name of the clear organizer you showed in the video?
I have looked everywhere and cannot find these rubbermaid sorters. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. II live in Mississauga, Ontario. Thanks.
Hi Alejandra, where did you get your PINK poly envelope on your desk organizer? I also love pink & poka dots. Thank you for all your videos. Love seeing them.
What do you think about scanning receipts and keeping them in.. Say Evernote ? So you can shred ALL paper (except of course things like birth certificates)
that's a good idea for sorting papers versus mail stuff. i don't currently own a home myself and i'm living with a relative at the moment, but i find this stuff actually applicable since i'm already such an organized, neat freak! haha. out of curiosity, are you a Virgo? ;) because i'm a Virgo and a lot of people say that the reason why i'm so organized and such is because of that.
I love this concept! I'm a busy mom with 5 children (ages 11, 9, 7, 6, & 5). I always struggle with the amount of paper that comes home from school and use a long term filing system similar to this. I love this concept for the sort term on my desk for permission slips, friendship lists, and things that need to be transitioned into my long-term files for each child. Where did you say you purchased the clear plastic file sorter itself?
I just realised i've been watching your videos for maybe 3 hours straight instead of organising/cleaning my room
Word!
HIMEblogTV Lol! Same!
Ha ha, me too sometimes. She's fascinating!
Been there, done that 😂
HIMEblogTV this things happen with me too😓😅

Your voice is sooooo soothing. I love listening to you while I am organizing!!!
Caressa Clark Lol I do the exact same thing! :)
haha. I thought it's just me. I also do the same thing.
So, so good! I went out and bought all of the things you show in this video and have just finished demolishing the wretched pile o' junk on my kitchen counter. Thank you for making this so clear!
Thanks for sharing what works for you, and giving us ideas we can implement in our own homes.
I am addicted to your videos, Alejandra!!!! I love them!

So relaxing watching these videos. Think I'm going to go on a mass organising spree this weekend.
Ikr! Just looking at people's organized system is so incredibly calming!
Thanks for your tips. They are really helpful. I am about to organise my home office and home in general but am the least organised person in the world. My toddler was very excited to hear your trash man in the back ground. She loves to watch the garbage truck. Lol
Very inspiring! Thank you Alejandra!

That clear project filer is so much better than black letter trays!!
Great system! Thank you for sharing!
Great video Alejandra! Thank you for using Smead SuperTab folders, too! :)
The mailing labels folder... I have those as well, I love them! I have the colored ones though. Red, blue and yellow.
We missed you Alejandra!!!
YES !!! RECYCLING...great question riccio.
So excited Alejandra! Can't wait! - JoEllyn
do you know... that i love you.. im turning into an maniac for organization
You are a Godsend! Marla Ciley the FlyLady had recommended your videos and I'm so glad she did! Thank you for all your hard work!

great ideas! i was just wondering if you were going to organise your own wedding ? love to see videos on that when the time comes. xx
All of your videos are Great!
Can the plastic file holder be mounted on the wall?
I was curious why you decided not to do the Elfa wall system in the new house?
yes! it's also a good organizing tip for office workers and for teachers (like me) :)
Sorry for asking if you already mentioned it but why did you decide not to use the elfa system for your desk this time around?
Cool! Mail question-what do you do with items that don't fall into "call/ask/cancel" or "bills to pay" but is not ready to be filed? That seems to be the kind of mail that gives me trouble and when I need it, I can't locate it easily. What are your thoughts on using hanging file folders. Do you cover that in another video?
Thanks for your great tips!
My home office is in my dining room. Any tips on how to make it blend in better or better yet how to hide it?
kimbac3 have you tried an armoire or a roll top desk?
Yes! please make a video on how to file big ticket recipts....furniture, tv, warranty! Thanks!
How do you know when to pay the bill if they are due on different dates? I use an accordion file with 0-31 date dividers and stick the bill in on the date it is due
I use Google calendar for that. All bills put together not by date. Not sure if there's a better idea..
Thanks for your video, but one question...how you deal with dust which always everywhere?
Omg yes this is the killer of my filing cuz dust gets on papers are impossible to clean!!! A resource on this would be very helpful!
Nice video! I really like your organization style... thank you :)
Love your system
You are seriously amazing!!
I can't find a file sorter with the stairsteps and the enclosed sides anywhere! Looked all over at Office Max. We don't have a local Staples but I searched online and couldn't find one. Searched Amazon and still can't find one. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

Why didnt you use the elfa system in your new house
Can you please do a desk organization tour?
I love this idea. Anyone know where I can get this step organiser in Australia? I can't find any that have sides and are clear!!
Video on how to organize your cubicle? :) thanks.
YEAH ANOTHER VIDEO!
Are you going to go do a house tour?
I love the colors of your file folders. I haven't seen them in pastel before. Where did you get them?
i love this way of organizing paper :) where can i purchase that mail/file sorter?
I have looked everywhere and cannot find these rubbermaid sorters. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. II live in Mississauga, Ontario. Thanks.
Love your Videos!! Thanks for sharing!!!!

Please...please...do a video on how you organize your daily planner or home binder.
Can you do a car organizing video? Like everything you should keep in your car and where to store and organize it? Thank you!
This is so great! Thank you!
helpful, in fact, my office is the biggest challenge. Thanks
