    And remember not to break or sprain your wrist by holding it tight when you strike.

    I've been really impressed with the Fiskars x27. It's a relatively inexpensive splitting axe that just gitsherdone. If you only have 50 dolls to spend I would buy the Fiskars. To all the people commenting on how their hydraulic splitters are so much easier....than go pull a lever marshmallow man. When it occurred to me how great hand splitting is as exercise I left the splitter for a sp,itting axe because I have the choice. When you don't have the choice it's just human nature to want faster and less work. Our bodies need some challenge to fuction. So think it over it you hate to exercise and need split wood. You will be surprised at how a hour of swinging axe 2 or 3 times a week helps out your cause. Buckin Billy Ray got me thinking about splitting wood as his gym, he's got a point.

      I agree, splitting firewood help keeps you young. The Fiskars X27 is a great axe. I can throw it in the back of my truck and not worry if something lands on the handle.

    What do you think of the Leveraxe? Is it worth the money or how much would you pay for it?

      ***** My Opinion on this. lets say the axe is an expensive keyboard. If you give a normal person an expensive keyboard they will not see much difference. but if you give the same keyboard to a pro he will find the benefits worth the price.
      this axe is good if you know how to use it. but if you dont get the rotation down and the swing then probably this axe is not for you. I play games i dont cut wood. but i will tell you that my keyboard is the key to my good plays

      Not if the heads already coming loose with that amount of paint wear, it hasn't been used enough to be having handle problems imo! However it's interesting that you can get a similar axe for 50 at lowes. At that price, it may make a splitting axe shootout video I'm planning lol

    Try using smoother leather gloves to eliminate the vibration. The handle will rotate better in your grip.

  • @garetclaborn
    @garetclaborn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    that thing does not look right to me, it's meant to be safer but i could see some bad slipping accidents happening over time and i cant say for sure but it seems like the force would mess with your elbows and wrists

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's an interesting design idea. I haven't used it for more than the 2 weeks that I borrowed it to give you long term feedback. I heard Lowe's sells one like it for $50.

    • @garetclaborn
      @garetclaborn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah it's interesting but i'm naturally skeptical ;]
      i wonder if it ends up being as useful as it is novel for you. do you have to use smaller logs to split the center with it?

    • @garetclaborn
      @garetclaborn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mmm for $50 that may be worth it

    I get the feeling that this works well under specific circumstances (no knots, straight grain and only taking slices) but deviate from this and it's not the tool for the job. Does that sound fair Mark? Did you ever stop it from vibrating up your arm?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's a fair statement. It's a safe axe for short, straight grained wood. It probably wouldn't vibrate that much if that's all I split.

    • @MrGareth101
      @MrGareth101 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that Mark. :)

    So, that's an expensive specific tool, which makes chopping big, yet short dry logs a breeze? Otherwise get only the tire? I wonder how long your furnaces are and if there's difference to european designs? I suppose in Finland people use wood to heat saunas and those things have short fireplaces, like one feet. The bigger house heating boilers furnaces are a tad larger, about 1,5 feet. It's nice to see someone testing stuff properly in a real enviroment!

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jotainkivaa123 I've looked at many wood stoves from European manufacturers such as Jotul and Morso. I've found that some contemporary size stoves such as Morso, require logs as short as 10". I own a larger Jotul stove, the Firelight F600CB. It can handle logs up to 24" I think in the US, you will find 16" logs work for most people. I like burning 18" logs, so the Leveraxe works good for me as long as the wood is straight grained. Thanks for commenting.

    I don’t know the steel quality in the trouper but I am shure I could temper it

    • @Shannesi042
      @Shannesi042 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The steel used to make tools such as this axe are hardened so that they keep their sharp edge longer. If you tempered the steel, you would soften it and the result would be a constantly dull axe.

      I like it enough to buy it for $50. Lowes now sells it under a different name called Truper. I'll probably post another video buying it from from Lowes and testing it out.

    Lot of money for a single job tool. I’ll stick to my old jersey pattern with 30” handle and my fiskers splitting axe. If you learn proper technique for splitting you don’t need a gimmick lol
