I work for a trailer dealer that sells curt products and we sell this hitch. Only downside to it is that if you are towing a trailer with shorter chains, you can't cross them if you do not have any d-rings on your receiver on the truck. Also, with how far the hitch sticks out, there is not very much slack in them. But as I stated, if you use d-rings, these problems are solved. I've used this hitch on my personal, as well as the company truck and had this issue on both.

My Boss and I run these on our vehicles. The Curt works great and don't rattle or shift around. I've used mine in a rise setup on my work van and use it at full drop on my truck, all in the same day.

It is a great ball hitch. I came from a B&W for years and worked well. It was nice for theft due to only one pin needed, but was pushing the 10k limit. With this hitch, it provided the extra safety net of Gross capacity and much cheaper. I leave the main unit locked for "tapping" safety, however I remove the ball portion to reduce chance of theft. Some people like to steal just to take. I've used it several times without issues, both light and heavy trailers. Solid unit and no rattle.

Great hitch best bang for your buck. I run a landscape construction company and all my fleet trucks are running this hitch. Haven't had any problems with them. The only downside to these as mentioned is they tend to stick out a bit farther. This is a problem if you have short chains on your trailer. Also, the anti rattle rubber they use tends to wear out quickly especially when towing a lot. On ours some have fallen off but never bothered replacing them. It actually made sliding the pins in easier when adjusting the height. Like JD mentioned you can also purchase different hitch styles on my personal truck I have the 2 and 2 5/16 combo, pintle and clevis hitch that can be purchased through etrailer.

I bought this hitch after trading in my old truck as all my old hitches would hang to low with the new truck. I am very happy with it and wish I had switched to that style a while back instead oh having one for 2" and 1 for 2 and 5/16" makes my life easier. I did have to get a 2 and 1/2 to 2" adaptor but have not seen that as a problem. my event trailer weighs in at 7000lbs and have had no issues pulling it.

I picked one of these up off amazon as I was preparing to ditch the SUV for a truck. I like it, one thing to note is on mine the ball is stamped 10k lbs while the shank is 14k. I'm not going to be towing anything that heavy but always make sure you are lighter than your weakest piece.

Awesome. I've been looking at this hitch. I'll probably spring for it. I love that pintle option. I've got several military trailers that I hang around. At this price, I'll order one for the truck and one for my jeep!

I got tapped a few years ago. I took the guy’s keys out of his car while we looked over the damage and I made sure I was still able to get my hitch out in case he bent the pin. He said “other than the hole in my bumper there’s no damage” I said “let me make this very clear. YOU hit ME. Therefore I don’t give a damn about damage to YOUR car”

I have this CURT hitch for my F250 and is the 2.5" all-steel shank. You're right, it's one sturdily built hitch and quite robust. I used it only two times but didn't like the rattling so I purchased a metal spacer from Amazon to reduce the slight gap between the hitch receiver and the hitch shank. I recently replaced the CURT adjustable hitch unit entirely b/c the weight of my trailer ovewhelms the truck's stability. I purchased a Shocker-Hitch air ride towing hitch to absorb the push-pull affect and hard impact of weight on the rear of my truck. The shocker Hitch with air bag was much more pricey but should nullify the hard ride from the trailer. I purchased my original CURT hitch from Amazon which has since increased $70 from day of my original purchase. I will sell my CURT adjustable hitch to anyone interested. Please note: my F250 takes a 2.5 inch shank not the standard 2 inch for a F150. If anyone is interested, they may go to my TH-cam channel and get my e-mail address in the "About" Tab. I'll give them a great deal.

Great review. I drive an SUV with a Curt aftermarket receiver hitch. Not all of us drive nice tricks. My SUV receiver is low to the ground (6 inches). Can this hitch be inverted to raise the ball to provide a level trailer tow for my box trailer and/or boat?

Great product at a great price. Great mentioning that there are many no name brands that cost less but could put your valuable trailer or put peoples lives at risk. Unfortunately in our downward spiraling society one needs to put a locking pin in the ball portion so someone doesn’t walk off with a golden ball.

Quick question, as o haven’t really seen it asked. If a weight distribution hitch is what most truck manufacturers recommend/require for trailers with more than 5,000 GVWR. Why is it we see a lot of regular ball hitches up to 14,000 pounds capacity or more???
    Thank you

In my 2018 ram 3500 it works great but between using the 2" shank insert and the adaptor to the 2.5" there is a lot of slop and on a bumpy road it is annoying and jerky.
