hi mike. i used to have a blackthroat monitor that was a little bigger than your buddy there. i used to clip his nails while he was having his bath. they are much more relaxed in the tub i found. have fun with that handsome guy.
thats a beautiful argus. i had a blackthroat monitor that was around 6 feet and 40 pounds. i found the best and easiest time to clip his nails was when he was having his bath. he would just totally relax in the warm water and you could what you needed to do with ease. try this with your argus if he or she likes baths. good luck and take care of that beautiful creature.
That thing is OBESE! Poor guy. :P Oh well, you mentioned his diet that will be put into his future so I'm sure he's fine. Beautiful animal, I can't wait for mine to get that size.
The way he worked you over made me laugh out loud! He clearly is not aggressive though, just a little defensive with those claws. Their relatively tame nature is due to their intelligence. Now if we could start training and house breaking them like dogs they'd be more popular. I think playing fetch with a tennis ball at the lake would help him work off those pounds as well.
Nice looking lizard. I found that if you name you can have better control. But I think Brute is to neg of a name,I do like Bobby though, much more positive name. Hes your lizard though, and it looks good!!
A tegu, monitors are more like green iguana which means males are aggressive so I don't think a Argus monitor but a tegu can be because its less aggressive

i think its funny how he says " this little guy" when that lizard can eat a jack rabbit!!! lmao
Wow he's awesome!
Beautiful lizard!
Is he full grown? I always wanted a sav but this argus seems badass?
Nearly a decade ago, no way this lizard is still kicking it
have you ever been around one well i have and its the way the animal is shaped

I laughed when he said "this little guy".
This is awesome, I want one. What kind of a set up would you have to own to maintain a lizard like that ?
Devan C huge set up we've spent 800 easily on him
Definitly want a custom set up not a regular store bought set up argus monitors require a lot of space to stay healthy

I'm currently looking and debating on what monitor to get. Would you recommend a Tegu or a Argus Monitor?
A tegu, monitors are more like green iguana which means males are aggressive so I don't think a Argus monitor but a tegu can be because its less aggressive
get a asian water
Tegus aren't monitors but they are a better pet than any type of monitor
Hello, friend! Is this monitor lizard varanus panoptes panoptes, or varanus panoptes horni?
U should come to my school an show off your reptiles haha

what is sex? male or female?
nice,, i can teach you how to clip there nails by yourself if you want its so easy
Yeah my Nile Monitor female is pretty obese.. Either that or she has eggs in her but if anything I gotta trim her diet
It's majorly overweight
No it's not, at least not majorly
+Eddie Perez it's fairly substantially overweight. Not on its death bed overweight quite yet.
Savannah Monitors shouldn't be that fat either...
Argus does not really calm down dude.
well it is also a surrender
no their legs are short
its not obese its just they way their stomachs are
