The narrative viewed Ethiopia as a feudalistic empire which was mostly accurate. But the entire story is told with a subtle colonial and racially bigoted voice(the quote avove) In my opinion, the documentary didn't capture the life, love, peace and harmony behind all of it. I guess since it was the time of modernization, anything that didn't follow the way is deemed wrong.
what harmony are you talking about? The only wealth of the state, the land, was owned by the church, the emperor and the 'noble' men who used and abused the peasants. Barring slavery, that is the worst way to treat people
