    A stellar line up. That dive watch is refreshing. So many hard angles and lines, so different from other more traditional divers. I love its aesthetic as well as its capability.

      Agreed. No reason to debase yourself waiting years, begging, or paying over list for a ceramic AP when this exists with a full bracelet. AP even allows its factory boutiques to charge over retail these days, so who knows what you'd be paying even if you were on the short list for a ceramic RO.

  • @waterfordrs22
    @waterfordrs22 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That new chronograph is going to be a well deserved hit. They know their way around that complication.
    The Extreme diver, technical divers aren’t my jam, but they brought out an interesting watch. It’s got it’s own thing going and the finishing is quite interesting. Lots of little details.
    The Revivals, truth be told, they tend to be my favorites and the Defy Revival shown here is quite fine. It doesn’t fit my style, but it’s a great watch. The first time I saw a Defy Revival, I don’t know how to look at it. Still avant-garde. One of my own best watches is an A385 Revival - keep the Revivals coming Zenith.
    My only let down- I read an interview from Zenith’s CEO, while I’m not sure if he’s still there, he talked about an update of the Elite line. That would be very welcome.

    There is a LOT going on with the design of the extreme diver. I don’t know if I love it or hate it but it definitely deserves a really good ‘in-depth’ look on release. One aspect I think is an absolute success is that enormous minute hand lume block, it’s just so confident. Compare with the Bremont and Montblanc divers recently release that are about the most apologetic and generic dive designs I’ve seen.

    I love that defy chronograph! Appreciate the review! Quick question Tim. You have mentioned in the past that column wheel vertical clutch chronographs can have the chronograph function frequently running for long periods of time without wearing out the parts. This is a lateral clutch. Can you run the chrono regularly (if you wanted to) without significant wear? If I misunderstood what you have shared in the past, please let me know! Thank you!

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I shot videos for Zenith at the corporate level a few years ago, its instructions were to avoid running the chronograph continuously. Since Zenith only uses lateral clutches, my rule of thumb is that you only run the watch for as many hours as the largest chrono counter - 12 hours in this case. Run it regularly for sure. Just don't leave it wandering indefinitely if not strictly necessary.
      Best,
      Tim

    Chronograph is beautiful, but divers are more nod to the past than anything. Thierry Nataff’s era cases with their rotating bezels look way better. The dials where not for all (especially on some Xtreme models:)) but otherwise these watches looked way better than most current Zeniths. Hell, it’s shape is better than Rolex and Omega and most other “classics”. It’s both masculine and elegant, tool-like and yet looking more expensive than a cutout from slub of steel (I’m looking at you Rolex). And no old-school vintage looks that seem to be coming from actual past in a time-machine. Sadly most people never scrutinized those Defy Classics and Def Xtremes in person.

    The Zenith diver at 2:42 seems to borrow design cues from Breitling with its orange color and rectangle on the seconds hand. The crown and date at 4 o'clock seems to borrow design cues from Seiko. Is this an homage watch?

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's literally a reproduction of the vintage watch we showed in the video - Zenith's own A3648 from 1969. What influenced those designers ages ago, only Zenith (or possibly nobody) knows.
