I’m from Ashikaga. The first time I watched Lily Chou-Chou was when I was 14. Since then, I’m a huge fan of this movie as a citizen of this city and as a teenager. I used to be one of them who biked on the green bridge. Thank you for coming all the way down to this small city. Thank you for capturing the beauty of my hometown. I moved to Tokyo a few years ago. But I wish I could meet you when I was there.
That's so interesting, maybe I should let you know when I visit Ashikaga again! Btw, how was it watching the movie as a person from Ashikaga? Did you find it somewhat relatable?
@@LimYangJunn it doesn’t have to be Ashikaga but when you come back to japan, yes! Shunji Iwai portrayed well. Ashikaga is just a boring city like any other rural city. Especially for teenagers, it’s so boring cuz there are only a few places to hang out. But after I watched this movie, I could think this city isn’t as bad as I thought. And yes, when I felt lonely I felt there’s no place to escape because it’s a small city so everyone is everywhere. The funny story is that the school they used is actually one of the most famous middle schools to have a lot of ‘yankees.’ The choice of school was correct lol
@suzuyokozuka3991 that's great! Cause I'm going to Japan again next year, how should I let you know? Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, it's so interesting to know your point of view. I learned a new word in "yankee" too hahaha

I'm from this city,Ashikaga. Thanks to this video, I can remember my old days. When I was in university, I watched this emotional movie , Lily. Now I'm living foreign countries, however I love my hometown.
Just finished watching the movie, it took me around 4 hours, simply because some scenes were too overwhelming for me, the movie made me think, cry, reflect, and honestly when I was a young teen I was dissociated from everyone, and listening to music was the only time I felt free from the loneliness, I would go to this little spot by a riverbank where either outcasts or nobody else went to. so I can fully relate with the movie's message about music. Some day, if I'll ever even travel to Japan in my life, Ashikaga is gonna be my first destination. Thank you for making the video.
I can relate to having music as an escape from life, though I have yet to find a spot like your riverbank but I'll get to it haha. I did listen to "tobenai tsubasa" from the movie's soundtrack while at the radio tower, and it is definitely a memory that I may cherish. Thank you for watching!
