Mark is a perfectionist in his work as well as his process. He freely shares his processes and has explored many methods for restoration to get to where he is today. He has brought back to life many basket cases. It is a pleasure to use a plane that Mark has restored!
Hi Gordon , great video, Mark made an amazing job of your Stanley No 112 it looks amazing, I have a No 112 sweetheart in very good condition with the original full sweetheart Iron, I will put some pictures up soon, best wishes from the UK .
@@roybailey1134 thank you for watching and yes, Mark Webster (available via Instagram) has my second Stanley plane in his possession as I write. His work is phenomenal and his durable powder coat makes for a great “user” with great longevity and high function. Cant wait to see yours!
The Lie-Nielsen 112 scraper plane is currently out of stock at Lie-Nielsen, but lists for $285.00. It is every bit as nice as that restored Stanley 112. It will eventually come back in stock. The Veritas scraping plane is of very high quality and is very similar to the Stanley 112, but not quite identical. The build quality is excellent, it scrapes extremely well and is available from Lee Valley for $219.00.
I am also considering powder coating. I sent a monitor stand base that my dad made for me to powder coating and it came out great. I also deal with powder coated parts at work. They are very durable.
Same here… I’ve been in the manufacturing industry my whole life so I’m well aware of the advantages. This tool looks great and it’s going to keep its finish for years.
Yepp. You wouldn’t do this to just any vintage Stanley but for a tool that’s not collectable, and one that’s going to be used, this is just a joy to hold. I have a couple users that I cleaned up… I thought mine were clean. Ha! And I just used this on some maple… amazing.
Me too! He is a regular on the APlanelife zoom call and he has shared some impressive jigs, fixtures, and techniques he came up with to do repairs.@@gordonaddison307
@@gordonaddison307I have. It was absolutely worth it. 2-8 (the No 1 is untouched due to collector value). I have a 10 1/4 and 10 that will be in his hands this spring to complete a type 6/7 all bench plane set refurbished by Mark the Master.
I agree! I truly feel like this was hand-made for me. A durable finish, satin smooth machining, a Hock iron….. it’s just a treat to hold and it “scrapes” like no other scraper I’ve used. ❤️

It's a beauty! Big admirer of both your and Mark's content. And I happen to have a 112 in the queue for some TLC... what an inspiration!
Thanks for taking time to watch and I appreciate your comment. I truly believe Mark made this better than new.
I appreciate your knowledge, passion and craftsmanship. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!!! And I appreciate you watching. Thank you for the compliment. ❤️
Great collaboration. That looks like it turned out amazing.
