I would have been in the coolest kid in school if I showed up with this game boy in the early 2000s. Although I prefer a modded game boy. I do like the retro struggle of trying to find a light source to play a gameboy. I remember playing a game boy when my dad was driving and I was trying to use the street lights as a source of lighting.
Cool stuff. Wish you explained more what everything and how you do it, to us non electricians. I get the general ideas though. She's be happy, even if her battery life would get a hit :)
