It's funny that you mentioned the tractor breaking in half. My grandpa's 1955 broke in 2 after he grazed a tree with one of the dual hubs. Apparently, the tub had a weak spot
Well doctor Oliver , we’ll wait for your prognosis. Still enjoying your videos just not commenting as much .kinda giving you a break but always a thumbs up!
Sadness,It will be a better machine when your done with it , and your fan club (hopefully)will get to be there while you do it . More Better 😁 God Bless
Sorry that it’s looking so bad Ross! I know you’ll get her back into shape though!! The 1655 is my favorite Oliver too. It was the only Oliver we had on the farm. Chris Losey’s comment made me chuckle 🤣 🤷🏼♂️
Time for a compression test. This rotten gas we get just sucks , we use a high octane fuel from Mobil and I add marvel mystery oil n lead additive. We only have 2 gas tractors , I am sure you'll find the issue. From turkey creek farms be safe n thankful
Apply air pressure at the spark plug hole, with the valves closed, and then listen to where you hear air escaping. Exhaust pipe=bad exhaust valve. Carb=bad intake valve. Crankcase=hole in piston or broken rings. And, you probably should have had it running and spray some flammable brake cleaner around the intake gasket. A gasket-sucking air will make for a dead miss. The cleaner if sucked into the dead cylinder will suddenly make that cyl pick up. Oil can also work as it will make the cylinder pick up if it is a small leak or if it is a big one the engine will maybe pick up that cylinder long enough to see smoke coming out of the exhaust stack. I believe in checking all of the possible problems before removing the head. Your certified muffler holder is also a certified shirt ripper. Great video. Ich freue mich darauf, den Esel im zweiten Teil schreien zu hören.
Dang it Ross!🤣 I was there on my 560, it liked to foul plugs but I never could pin point it, so the head finally came off and even then it wasn't obvious but now its better but not quite 😮 I'm kinda glad yours should be easy to see. Good luck👍
Love your channel bud. Today I finally learned how to sign in and comment. It’s taken me months to figure out I was not actually signed in. Why? Because I’m a moron. Maybe we are related? LOL
Interested to see this project. Our 1550 burnt a valve many years ago when the Oliver dealership was still open. The 1550 has been a great tractor but this ethanol gas is hard on the them. My current issue is gas pouring out of the carb, bought a carb kit but no gaskets.
Ross you've lost that loving feeling in moment for Oliver 1655 ,your eyes looking too much love toward luxury fiat and yugo tractor 😅😅😅😅😅 shame on you. Even broken your grandpa heart his flavor Oliver 1655 tractor shame Ross. I told you all Oliver tractors, 9650 agco, white 4-180 not forget about left in cold, hot, wet snow, rainy weather just give the love have for you 😅😅😅😅😅. Great video's keep up good work thanks again
Look the old gas burner here got a skip new plugs didn’t fix it I had bent push rods mechanic straight Ed them I had been hauling water on a hay wagon going down hill over receding it was the train of thought ran good for month don’t use it much went to skipping again new points new plugs and wires didn’t fix it checked more bent push rods come to find out I ran some old gas poured it in ran great when you cut it off there is a build up of chocolate pudding on the backside of the valves when you cut it off it glued the valves shut when you hit the starter you got rod s bent
I've never really thought Oliver's were that great but for some reason I find the folks that run Oliver's on TH-cam make the most interesting videos.
Well thank you. I’m glad people are enjoying the videos!
"You're going to have to go deeper." - She.
❤️❤️❤️
THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
A compress test will tell a lot. Keep up the good work, Ross.
Thank you!
Like old Ollie's, but seems engine repair is never ending!!
If you use any machine there will always be some type of maintenance.
We can always count on Ross to be “Mr. Positive”. 😂
🤣🤣🤣

Wow!!
There's no need to fear Underdog is here... I have every confidence in your ability to remedy the problem.
Thanks Dale!
Well Ross...the journey of life is always an adventure. Glad you've got the mechanical ability to count to ten and assess the situation.
Some really good mechanics can only count to nine…
Thanks Don!
Tough break Ross! I know you will get the 1655 back in the field very soon
Thanks Scott!!
Ross i feel for you man
Thanks!

This is the way
…the way to sadness 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Well seems like your the right guy to fix it!
Thanks!
And I thought I cornered the market on bad luck! I think it's time for you to buy a lottery ticket. Your luck has got to change!! Good luck!!
🤣 Thanks Stephen!
Thanks for the videos, info, education, and entertainment! Keep em coming!
Thanks Derek!
You had your break of good luck now back to the norm. Lol. It will get better.
Thanks Neil! I think everybody has to have their turn.
I think I’ll cry a river of saddness
😭😭😭😭
Do you remember on the show He-Haw when they sung a song that had the words with "if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at aii".
I think that’s my theme song 🤣
Best of luck with the Tractor, you will sort it , looking forward to next installment , 👍💨💨
Thanks Darren!
Suspense and intrigue will keep me coming back. 🤞 Fingers crossed it’s not too bad.
Thanks Cory!

Good to see the old iron being taken care of
Thanks Ian!
Awesome video
Thanks Mike!
I always hope it is a simple fix.
Thanks!!
Don't forget to remove radiator and fuel caps before you set the hood back on
I hope we get to see more for the conclusion of what's wrong and how you fix it. Cheers :)
Thanks!
Sorry for your bad luck. I hope the repair goes smoothly.
Thank you!
Would love to see more on the how to operate the tractors and attachments
Thanks Keith! I’ll see what I can get accomplished

🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Gary!
Got my Oliver 60 running finally! The firing order was off. Now the clutch just went out… 🤦🏼♂️
Sounds like you have my kind of luck 😭😭😭
Dang it Ross!🤣 I was there on my 560, it liked to foul plugs but I never could pin point it, so the head finally came off and even then it wasn't obvious but now its better but not quite 😮 I'm kinda glad yours should be easy to see. Good luck👍
Thanks! I didn’t really want to do this now but at least it’ll be better when I’m done.
Love your channel bud.

🤣 thanks Kenny!
i say you need to get a bore scoop there
cheep now days
I definitely want to get one of those! I think it would be handy in certain situations.
Time for a leak down test
I know what’s wrong, I just went ahead and pulled the head. It’s sadness 😭😭😭
@@rosstheoliverman Toasted sesame seed coated exhaust valve I assume
good luck with that job
Thanks Alan!
Ross if it ain't for bad luck wouldn't have any luck at all 🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀😕 hope you get some good luck 🤞 Thanks Michael
😭😭😭 thanks Michael!
There's some room there for some more better 🤔
Yep. It needed rebuild anyway.
It's only money
Bad luck makes an unwelcome return
😭😭😭
That bites. Can never be something simple can it? Well at least you know you can fix it. Good luck.
Thanks Keith!
Time for a quick compression test?
I pretty well knew what was wrong with it so I went ahead and pulled the head. You’ll see that in part two
Interested to see this project. Our 1550 burnt a valve many years ago when the Oliver dealership was still open. The 1550 has been a great tractor but this ethanol gas is hard on the them. My current issue is gas pouring out of the carb, bought a carb kit but no gaskets.
Yeah our modern gas is crap.
Well that sucks!
😭😭😭
Looks like you can put a new exhaust manifold gasket on now.
Yup. Have to do that as well.
Hopefully u fiquired what giong on with it cool tractor
Thanks Zachary!
@@rosstheoliverman your welcome mine coming a lot a lot more work half way finish being restore get up running keep up good work
Oh no
😭😭😭
Cool vids
Thank you!
You broke Grandpa’s tractor?
It’s a good thing he left it to me in his will, because I’m going to have some serious $$$ in it.
Lets upgrade with a turbo.
What Bummer but you can Getter done
Thanks Donnie!
Pika cool 😎
Hopefully going together again soon
Can you replace a clutch in an Oliver 60 without splitting the tractor? Also what’s the best clutch to put in it?
You should have enough room. I usually get them from Hy-Capacity
I’m guessing broke piston rings or something with the valve or valve seat
It’s sad. Wait for part 2…😭
Put a diesel in it. Probably not, but I think it'd be cool. Good luck
If it wasn’t my family tractor I probably would
@@rosstheoliverman I get it. We have an AC D-17 my grandpa bought new. I was told never to sell it.
Time for a really large Dram...🥴
I think a whole barrel of whiskey would be the best 🤣
@@rosstheoliverman That would definitely fix it 🤣

What would you say I should pay for a 1755 it looks in about the shape of your 1655 metal wise and it runs like a top it is just faded a little bit
I would say anywhere from 4000 to 8000. It’s hard to say
A compression test and a leak down test would be wise... 🤨
Yeah, it’s past that. Just tear er down 😭
More sadness!
😭😭😭
I want a 1755 diesel so bad and I know where one is
They’re super fun to drive
It’s happened in the past a piece of carbon stuck in a valve
That’s what I was hoping for, but that’s not what it was 😭😭😭
That is a bummer man and Ross you need to invest in some gear wrenches sir lol
I have like 8 sets but I never seem to use them on camera 🤣
Ever clean anything before you start disassembly?
I washed my hands.
O CRAP ☹ What is it gonna be? loose valve seat? burnt valve? hole in piston ? Broke Ring ? Crack in head? the suspense is too much ! 😮 Thanks
It’s sadness. You’ll see in part two 😭
👍👍
Thanks Jason!
I'm surprised. I expected you to get hit by a plug wire. That's how I roll.
It would have made good TV
🤣🤣🤣
Murphy s law!
😭😭😭
🧑🏽🔧🚜🚜👍👍
Thanks Tom !
Well, crap!!😢
😭😭😭
Just remember, it was doing ok until it wasn’t…
Yeah. It definitely needed attention so it’s ok.
the suspense is getting to me. UGH.
Don’t worry, it’s sad 🤣
The ground is flat?? I never saw you as being a flat earther guy 😂. It's nice to think it's going to be an easy fix but in my world it rarely is.
🤣 unfortunately it’s not gonna be an easy fix
