Your videos are golden! Great storytelling, and race insight. So much more than other channels with summaries. You make the sport so much fun to watch!!
One of my favourite things about this win is how many of the peloton as well as photographers and journalists were so happy Kasia won. It says a lot about someone when almost everyone in the sport, even your competitors, are happy for you winning.
Borghini said in an interview that she was riding for Realini until the last few kms, when Realini said she didn't have it. So it was an impressive ride for third in fact.
"Elisa Longo Borghini post race interview FW" is the interview I saw on this platform. She just said Gaia was suffering from the conditions so much she was done before the final climb.
What I love most about this is how she never looked back at the end. So often you see riders losing by a wheel length after looking back several times but this was great to see.
As Anthony McCrossan noted on the broadcast, it was incredible how Niewiadoma never looked back after making the winning move. Just had the confidence and commitment to go for it.
When I watched the finish online yesterday, I didn't hear any of the commentary in the last 100 meters because I was cheering so loudly for Niewiadoma.
Yeah, great win by Kasia! Win long overdue. I love her style ... always aggresive, wanting to ride. In this race especially, she really showed her progression: saving energy to explode when it mattered and it payed off. Clever riding! Well deserved and certainly in these circumstances (I'm from BE, I experienced it firsthand only not on my bike 😀). I'm happy for her ❤🔥
Theres no guarantees but imagine how we would look at Newiadoma if she had been winning all these races over the years instead of placing behind Vollering etc
Moment of the 2024 season thus far. Kasia should know she inspires thousands and thousands of her fans. Even her fellow professional racers loved this victory. This is why we love sport.
Kasia is the most deserving race winner in a long time. Someone who is so often in the mix for the win should have had many victories in the last 5 years.
I've thought for years Kasia would never win again riding on Canyon Sram. The lack of team support, lack of tactical nuance, always on her own at critical moments. I'm so happy for her its finally come good on one of the most iconic races of the season
Drinking game for Elisa Longo Borghini, see you at the emergency room. Can we shorten the name to ELB or something? If it works for MVDP it surely can work here too
I agree that Nieviadoma has improved, but Vollering is also just considerably worse than her level last year, at least so far. I think it was a combination of factors. Nieviadoma has seemed the strongest in races before, but lost either because, as you said, she goes too early, or the race simply doesn't play out in a way so she can win. I remember a version of Amstel, where she was clearly the strongest and was able to drop everyone on the ramps, but Boels had numbers and kept bringing her back on the flatter parts. Being virtually unable to beat anyone in a sprint finish also doesn't improve her chances of winning.
Kasia did but the competition in gravel at the moment doesn't compare to road. Kasia also showed up to the final race of the lifetime Grand Prix last year and blew that race up, and those ladies are the best gravel riders in the U.S.
@@daviddrake5663 those American gravel ladies are in different categories. Compared to Kasia those girls are high end amateurs. Good but still amateurs. KASIA is in another league
@@kubackjeee I agree. Gravel just hasn't attracted the best yet. Keegan wins nearly every race he's attends and he placed a respectable 5th at the gravel championships but was waaaaay behind Mehoric.
Yes, they ride for the same team. I don't know what the other guy is smoking. There is a rumoured ag2r transfer possible at the end of the season, but we really don't know yet. Didn't see many issues today either. Vollering just wasn't strong enough.
After Van Vleuten's retirement I would rather recommend Movistar to get her. They don't have a real stage race GC contender, at the moment that team is in shambles with Lippert still recovering from her stress fracture and being more a one day or single stage contender.
SD Worx looks like a team with an uncertain sense of themselves - Kopecky's victories aside, it's strange to me why team leadership elected for her to become the presumptive leader, especially before it was confirmed that Vollering was bound to leave. Feels like a situation akin to Visma's 2023 Vuelta, though Vollering's recent run of poor form shouldn't have been enough to sway ownership in favor of Kopecky. It's possible I'm missing something but the poor tactics on display here signal something considerably more serious than communication errors
I know what he meant, I just think she should be given credit for her accomplishments instead of talking about what she hasn't done. Beating Vollering is no small feat and this is the second time she's done it in just over 6 months.
@@davidtt8372 makes sense, from now on ima call mvdp 7 times world champ. (6 cx + 1 road). subsequently, winner of 211 races (162 cx + 49 road). making him the winningest rider of all time, second only to merckx.

Typical rookie mistake. Leave it to the end to tell them you ain't got it today.

SO many 2nd and 3rd places and now she got it!!
I loved seeing Vollering smiling as she lost. You could see the grimace of pain in losing but the smile beneath for her competitor.
Races under brutal conditions with attrition are won with perseverance and heart, so they are often the best victories.
