I am an atheist and I have been attending to the Unitarian Universalist Church for 8 months and I feel so nice over there. I have met another atheist that have been attending for many years and they are happy. I really love this church where believers and atheist can be together in peace.

I'm in favor of allowing all religions and those of none. I just don't like the progressive language police.

I'm an atheist as well...in a way. I don't believe in a separate personal being..."a god." But, I like the notion of assigning a personal name to reality. Reality includes, yet transcends, everything. Reality is omnipotent...it can do anything that can be done. Reality is omniscient...it knows all that is has and will be done. Reality is omnipresent...it is everywhere at every time. So, naming reality "God" makes some sense. I enjoy going to UU churches sometimes...mainly for the community. :)

Everyone needs a place to go to gather with like-minded people.
Religion: a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
Church: any division of this body professing the same creed and acknowledging the same ecclesiastical authority; a Christian denomination.

Oh no! Not another banana man knock-off! So this is mango man?
A small suggestion. If you want to know why somebody does something, and they are right there in front of you, you could ask them, instead of making up speculations.
I do favor the openness of the Unitarians and you only have to go a few steps further to come to the Truth that people can get together in fellowship, and take time to ponder the higher questions in Life, without the need for any writings said to be from an Omnipotent Being who sadly was afflicted by its writers to be in their own image of being a male, and have lowly human needs and emotions. But if it makes sense to you to have a belief that a Being who could create the whole Universe in 6 days needed to take over 1,000 years to not "reveal" Himself to a people who were 90% illiterate, in a confusing book they could not even read, I do fully support your right to do that. Good luck to you.

Most UU's are not dogmatic, and they are very pro-science and don't believe in the literal "6-day" creation story (although obviously they wouldn't "reject" one, but, they also wouldn't accept someone coming into their "flock" and trying to "convert" others... that is maybe the main thing about the UU "religion"... nobody is trying to convert you to anything. Believe what you want to believe, leave if you want.).

The sermon suggests that church provides an opportunity for moral reflection and personal transcendence which can't be found in an ordinary social gathering. Unfortunately, society views 'religion' as something that requires a slavish adherence to creeds or dogma. That said, the UU obviously do have discrimination of some kind - I would guess anybody promoting dogmatic exclusivity or hate speech would not be encouraged.

What is spirituality to you? For me it's a rather ghostly term that vaugly expresses the idea of simple contemplation of the eternal.

Wonder what he would say about Jesus cursing the bare fig tree? Figs weren't in season, wouldn't the son of God know that, or since he was supposedly God himself couldn't he just order the tree to produce figs? After all he changed water into wine?

I'm not him, but my answer is, It probably didn't happen. UU's don't have any obligation to hold dogmatic truths. If a religious text says something impossible then you have full liberty to strike it. If you want to bring in your Jefferson pamphlet-- Bible to service, go for it.
