Great sermon and so important today, as some commenters vividly demonstrate here the fact that the religious fundamentalism is threatened by any deviation from their dogmatic way of thinking and their peculiar misinterpretation of the reality.

I love it when a Unitarian talks about God. In the UU church I used to attend the word God was a bad word, and in practice scientific materialism was their creed. They defined faith as community.

By what standard is unity defined? Seems the approach explained here is more than etymology.

I was raised as a Unitarian, the ultimate liberal sect w/o a creed, so alian from others faiths. Unity, yeah, but it worked mostly to separate me from most everyone else.

Very cute, Destry :-) There actually is a correlation between economic Communism and Christianity. Marx's
inspiration was derived from the Bible, Book of Acts 2:44,45. "And all that believed were together and had all things in common; and sold their possessions and goods and parted them to all men and as every man had need." The spirit is one of care for all of God's human family and looking out for others. Of course a forced economic system brought about by violence and warfare was a very bad idea, but love and concern for our entire Human Family is not.
