  • A lot of people have asked me "What is the water fording depth of my/a Subaru?" In this video, I answer that question, and provide a number of water fording tips. If you're an experienced off-roader who knows how to ford a river or standing water, then, this video may not be for you. Otherwise, if you're new to off roading a Subaru or off-road water crossings, then, give it a watch!!!

This is very fundamental information thank you for the content and sharing you’re experience to your audience.
Could you relocate the ECM to prevent it from cutting off the whole car or what you stated in this video

Yep! Some people with older generation Subies either relocate their ECM, or get a waterproof box for it. The Ascent has a ruggedized one in the engine compartment that gets wet all day long. I think most (all?) new generation Subies do.

Any ideas on how to improve the Ascent for deeper water crossings? Is there a way to elevate that rear diff vent with a hose or something? We've got a 2023 Ascent. Also considering a lift at some point which I believe would only raise the body, not the rear diff/axles/etc.

Mount the turbo higher than the chin bar on the front bumper

You can get an ARB vent relocation kit. I might do that one day. A lift will or will not raise the diffs, depending on the lift type. Mine raises the rear diff 1.4" and the front breather (which is already pretty high) 2.4".

Quick question, I am looking to get bigger tires for my 2023 Ascent, what tires do you have on yours?

Hi! All the details of my build are in the end credits of this vid (you can use the chapter feature to jump right to them):

Short version is I am using Liquid Metal Shadows wrapped with Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. But, be aware there are only 5 wheels in that size that can carry the Ascent's weight and also clear the front calipers.

My 2020 Subaru Ascent is sitting at the dealership with water in the frame under the carpet. Not the first clue how it got there, I noticed the windows were all fogged up inside after a rain cleaned them. The next day they were fogged again, and my car smelled. I'm so disappointed

Hi Cherrill, where was the water sitting? Back or front? Which side?

@@SubaruAmbassadorRobert it was beneath the driver and passenger seat I'm guessing this is the lowest point of the interior to frame if that makes sense. I could hear it when i put on the breaks sloshing like a wave. The dealership didn't remove the carpet until this morning which is crazy to me. I'm still waiting to find out how it got there.
