😂🙌🏻amazing review, thank you. Ended up choosing this board thanks to the review - excited to test this puppy out! Got the last one in stock at the REI in Denver
How do you like it? I’m intermediate, don’t do anything crazy on the mountain, just like riding down and cruising… do u find it really aggressive where u have to pay attention to it all the time or is is forgiving in the sense if ur just chilling going down the mountain at your leisure you’ll be alright?
@@alecferrendino I'll be honest I haven't ridden it yet. I know that I have seen reviews saying the Mega Merc keeps you on your toes, but I haven't seen that about the Mercury. This is replacing my old ass Palmer Honey Circle (which I still love). So, if the Mercury is just as fast as the Palmer I'll be happy. I live in Texas now so it's a lot harder for me to get to the mountains. Used to go 70 days a year, now I'm lucky if I can get a couple of weeks in. Also, I have a fam of 4 so, it's 4 times the cost it used to be and that is a limiting factor.
@@alecferrendino I'm intermediate (low-mid end of the scale), been boarding for 3 seasons but only get 5-10 days on the mountain per season with indoor snow dome time inbetween. This board definitely isn't going to demand your full attention all the time. It'll happily cruise, you can be lazy with your turns if you want to be (mine is fine when cruising with and helping my beginner friends). But if you want the performance, the board will give you plenty as an intermediate. Hope this helps
Just picked up a 2021 model still in wrapping for 300 bucks! I had a hard time picking a new board to try with all the choices now days but went with this due to finding a good price. Excited to try it out!
I got the Capita Mercury 158W with the awesome 2023 topsheet last year for $400 in Switzerland. I still think the ’23 graphic is the best-looking. 😁 I’m 42 and have snowboarded my entire life and absolutely love that board. Just pick it in whatever condition, and you’ll be fine with it. It’s the perfect do-it-all board. Cheers from Switzerland
Dope, was waiting on this review, thanks! Have been thinking about an upgrade from my Yes Typo, this was one you recommended a while back, so good to hear its still a solid option!
Is your Typo busted? A lot of crossover with those boards. If it’s still in good condition and you’re not planning to sell it then would be better to add a different type of board than another of this style. Do as you like of course but two boards that compliment each other is nice to have.
@PacketOfCereal no the Typo is fine, I was thinking later on in the season I may upgrade to something else. My other board is a Zero, which I love, but I want something a little stiffer and more all-mountain freeride. The Merc can be both, but at this point I'm just keeping options open. Thanks for your perspective, though! I'm no expert, so I'll take all I can get, lol
@@jaredbryce7964 Have you looked at anything directional? Many all mountain Freeride boards are directional and come in different shapes. They’ll offer different benefits than the boards you have already so would complement well. All depends on what kind of riding you do and what kind of riding you’d like to do. Be honest with yourself about those things and it’ll help you find a good choice. There’s many allmtn freeride boards but have a look at the K2 Passport review and see how that sounds to you for a start.

Hi Avran, thanks for your videos! I bought myself 23-24 season one, kinda regret after watching the reviews on the board, guess i should have bought resort twin, is Mercury that worse? And should i sell it get myself RT?
Such a great board. I have the 2021 model and the Rome Ravine Select from last year. Both are awesome boards, but I need a new one because, why not? Any idea of another great option that rounds up my quiver?
OSL is the little brother to the Mercury basically. It's more a high level beginner or low level intermediate board where as the Mercury is for someone that knows how to ride.
Capita killed it with their graphics this year... except for the Mega Death. :( I am one that had a bad experience with the Mercury a few years back. It wasn't even that it was twitchy at low speeds (it was). But there were times where it felt as if there was a rubber band attached to the nose pulling in a different direction than I was turning. I may have gotten a defect though.
A theory From a much more experienced shop worker than myself equated a lot of that to the high level of structure that Capita puts in their base. At slower speeds the structure can “guide” your turns, he used to softly base grind them right out of the wrapper to soften the structure and didn’t have anyone come back. Then again, turning bigger cambered boards at slow speeds is always a little harder. On the other hand, I ride a lot of Capita boards and never base grind them till I need to and I’ve never had this “twitchy” problem at speed.
I had a similar experience with the super doa. I sold it immediately after riding a few times thinking it had a mind of its own. Mercury though have had several varieties and sizes never had that issue. Love the base sound and speed tho
does the 2025 version have any major tweaks over the 2023? worth updating? or should i go for the mega merc?... PS: i like to go fast!, need angrysnowboarder validation before i pull the trigger.
Hi Angry, great review as always! I want to get an all mountain board, not really for park but for everything else. I‘m really excited to try bataleon, they sound much fun with the 3BT. Preferably the Beyond Medals, otherwise the Goliath. Due to icy slopes sometimes I‘m not sure if the Mercury would be the better choice or if bataleon is still ok for that. I‘m an intermediate rider for many years. What board would you recommend? Thank‘s for response!
@@AngrySnowboarderI watched like 4 minutes out of it, and still not sure. That’s why I’m asking in the comment section. I really have no idea when it comes to snowboarding and any snow sports. This board just got recommended to me based on my personal details like weight, height, flex, etc.

Who the fuck is Arvin?
@@AngrySnowboarder That bald guy I see every day at Copper mountain who rides the new 'Ride Skullet Pig'
@@AngrySnowboarderAvran. Sorry 😅
Need to know more about this Skullet Pig.
Such a great board. I have the 2021 model and the Rome Ravine Select from last year. Both are awesome boards, but I need a new one because, why not? Any idea of another great option that rounds up my quiver?

@@AngrySnowboarder I've noticed that I'm getting better at snowboarding stepping out of my comfort zone. Thanks for the tip!
5’11” 190 lbs. size 10.5 boot. Would you recommend size 157 or 159?
Either
I hope you’re rocking a skullet under that beanie🤘🏼
Thoughts on 2025 Mercury vs 2025 OSL?
OSL is the little brother to the Mercury basically. It's more a high level beginner or low level intermediate board where as the Mercury is for someone that knows how to ride.
Capita killed it with their graphics this year... except for the Mega Death. :(
I am one that had a bad experience with the Mercury a few years back.
@@henryviz I sold that Mercury and bought a BSOD which also has structure and never had similar issues with it.
@@garyscoop I’m leaning towards some sort of manufacturing defect. Almost seemed like something wrong with the torsional flex.
Shadowban vs Mercury? Can’t decide, any thoughts?
Shadowban is going to be damper and the Mercury is going to be more lively. Both are great options. -TC
Both.
Damp = Quality in this case. But that doesn’t mean it’s more suited to your preference in performance.
What’s the difference between this and a mega mercury? Do you prefer this one over the mega?
Construction.
This or the Burton custom
Sure.
does the 2025 version have any major tweaks over the 2023? worth updating?
or should i go for the mega merc?...
PS: i like to go fast!, need angrysnowboarder validation before i pull the trigger.
If you want to go fast, go with the Mega.
I need a Salomon huck knife 2025 review pls
Why? Nothing has changed since last years except the graphic.
@@AngrySnowboarder word
Hi Angry, great review as always!
I want to get an all mountain board, not really for park but for everything else.
I‘m really excited to try bataleon, they sound much fun with the 3BT. Preferably the Beyond Medals, otherwise the Goliath.
Due to icy slopes sometimes I‘m not sure if the Mercury would be the better choice or if bataleon is still ok for that.
I‘m an intermediate rider for many years.
What board would you recommend?
Thank‘s for response!
Beyond Medals over the Goliath as that grips better on ice. Otherwise grab a Mercury and go rip.
Thank you so much! I‘m gonna go with the Beyond Medals then.

Would you say capita new bases are some of the best in the industry? Heard tribute speaking nothing but praise about them
They have a great tune to them.
Is this a good board for a total beginner ?
Did you even watch the review? Come on.
@@AngrySnowboarderI watched like 4 minutes out of it, and still not sure. That’s why I’m asking in the comment section. I really have no idea when it comes to snowboarding and any snow sports. This board just got recommended to me based on my personal details like weight, height, flex, etc.
@@selevabeatspick something more flexible. You’ll enjoy it more!

But but *I* need the MEGA merc ‘cause I make Kotsenburg look lame
If you make him look lame, you wouldn't be commenting here. Stop lying to yourself and everyone reading this comment.
