It’s so sad that in 2022 people are still putting their families together from this absolutely evil act. I pray this moment in history is never forgotten

It is not the only horror that has been done to so many humans by other humans. I hope we all can learn to live in peace with one another too!

75 years. Those of us who were born into Holocaust survivor families still feel the EVIL that ignorance and propaganda and jealousy resulted in manifested by the murderers of the third Reich

I feel sad for the sister that never saw this day. But I am glad they found each other. Roots are incredibly important. I finally met my dad in 2019 when I was 52. It was absolutely the best thing for me to fill my holes in my heart. This made me choke up. Precious.

Agreed, roots are important. I'm the genealogy researcher in my family (my uncle was, then I started about 10 years ago), On one side of the family can trace back before Charlemagne - on another only only go back to 1775, and on two other grandparents we can't seem to go back any further than 1860. Right now no one in the family cars about this but me, but eventually I hope someone will and when they do they can access my research and learn as much as possible out where all parts of our family come from with documents and pictures to back up as much as possible.

@@animal61066 Aww! Bless your heart! I pray that God will somehow show if he is still alive and if so arrange for you to meet him and if he's passed that you will learn about who he was and his life.

I cannot imagine the pain of losing your baby and not knowing where she is or the pain of the daughter not knowing anything about her family. It is sad that mother and daughter could not be reunited within their lifetime but it is amazing that these women (aunties and niece i believe?) found each other and get to share experiences and hopefully many happy memories to come!

This reminds me of meeting my grandfather's family in Sicily in 2018. He immigrated to the United States in 1915 and died in 1988. They were so happy to meet us. They were absolutely thrilled to meet us in person. It felt like they had known us all their lives! Congratulations on finding your sister's family after so many, many years!

Very similar story. My great grandfather came to the USA in 1929 at age 19 from Italy and he left his parents and 4 younger siblings behind in Italy. Little did we know they all had children, grandchildren etc all who still are in italy. My family and I were finally able to contact them and they are all doing well. We hope to meet them in the future as well.

My heart breaks for their mother, I can't even fathom how broken she was and yet had to continue on for her other children. Yes, her other children brought her joy but there was always that pain within her.
What a beautiful story of these sisters reuniting, oh what a joy. I wish they would have shown more of their interaction. ☺️🙏🏽♥️

Very emotional. They lost their mother and sister during WW2 and now could meet her daughter. The people now have no idea how much people in the early 20th century suffered. Firstly WW1, then the Spanish flu, which killed more people than the war and then the Wall St crash and depression followed by WW2.

I never knew who my father was my mother wouldn't tell me even though I constantly asked. Finally, when I was 26, and a mother myself, she finally told me this big secret that should never have been. No person has the right to keep another person in the dark about who their parents are. I located my lost family, who were in Chicago. After speaking with them I decided to go visit them in Chicago. My father was not there but I went to his grave site. Unfortunately a year prior he passed away of a massive heart attack. But I still wanted to know anything and everything I could about him and my family I was able to see pictures of him and meet his family/my family. I did not take my daughter because she was young and I had a lot of catching up. Going from Maryland to Chicago was a quick flight, I took a cab from O'Hare National Airport to the southside of Chicago. When I arrived at my grandmother's little row house on Halsted Street I met my father's mother and his brother. When I arrived at her home she treated me so kindly. When I went to bed that night she actually tucked me in like I was a little girl . She was such a tiny little lady this was back in 1996 and she was so prim and proper, but had a whole other side of her as well. Like I imagine we all do. She didn't take any crap. She was so small and petite, now I don't have to wonder why I was only 5 foot 4 inches tall and 115 lb. All of the women in my family growing up were all over 5 ft 9, my mom is the shortest and she is 5 foot 7, I myself 5 foot 4 inches. When I arrived at my grandmother's apartment it was a typical Grandma home. Just like I expected family pictures everywhere on all the walls. One picture stood out to me I walked up to it because the person had my eyes, I asked my grandmother who the man in the photo was, it was my father. The resemblance was very obvious, I look like him. Growing up it was always just me my older brother who never met his father either but he always knew who he was. That is itself is a whole other story. My mother should have wrote a book and exposed my brother's father. As far as My grandmother I sat in a chair in her living room apparently my father used to always sit in. A few hours later, the dog just started barking and backing up at me. for no reasons. I was sitting in the same chair I had been sitting in for a while, the dog was acting like something was standing behind me. My paternal grandmother was absolutely convinced my father was there in spirit. I have two. Family is very important especially not knowing your mother and father and immediate family members, it leaves a hole inside you that nothing can still accept meeting your flesh and blood. Regardless of who they are.

Despite my concerns over having my DNA in a massive data base. This story would make it worthwhile. I was very small when I asked why my friends Mommy had numbers on her wrist. So 7 to 9 year old me didn't. She was kind and gentle. He sons were good playmates. I pray there are more happy ending.

Hello Mariana……..these type of stories are so painfully beautiful. Did your beloved grandfather speak much of his life during that time? I say this because we cannot forget the past; it is the necessary history that we must remember in the present so as to prevent it from repeating in the future. God bless you.

As an adopted baby, i had all the questions you could imagine, and for me, it's not panned out well. and i've not had any significant connections thru my DNA test. . . . I want to see a photo, and really, that's all-- of the women who gave birth to ,me. I personally don't like to frame my 'adoptive' parents as not my '
real' parents, and it made me really furious when my brother did that often to anger and hurt them, so of course i didn't go there. They've been gone for many years now, so i finally got up the courage to do the test, and worked thru any issues about being .adopted and more importantly, being given-up. . . . .I am glad to read the Holocaust connection, which led me to this story, though that's not a personal matter for me. . I do love these stories though, and thank you for sharing it, ladies.

So happy for them and what an amazing story they have to share. My DNA experience has been somewhat disappointing. People only want to know their DNA locations, not who they came from or who's around in their own life time. Few relatives have reached out or responded to my emails. I think they wasted their money on it. I am the only one left from my birth father's side and their few children even care to keep in touch. The few contacts I have are great and a blessing to me.

I helped my Mom connect with a half brother she never met on her Dad's side and an adopted brother on her Mom's side. We are so lucky in the instant connection. Her half brother by her Dad, I would think they are fraternal twins. They look so much alike. DNA and researching family has been beyond rewarding for us.

My adoptive Grandparents were in Auschwitz and would at the beginning smuggles babies and young children out of the Camp under bodies in trucks, these kids were then taken from the area by Resistance people and adopted out or hopefully sent overseas to other family members. As it was told to me this was done often with parental acceptance, knowing the child could and would die a terrible death in the Camp, or be experimented on by so called Doctors at the Camp. It doesn't change the circumstances, or the horror of what occurred, and rarely did anyone survive to look for the child after being in the camp. I am so sorry the older sister never got to meet her sisters, I am profoundly happy that the family did eventually meet up and love each other for who they are.
