I've watched the hard work you have done.. I know what it's like but so worth it... As for waterproof.. There is other stuff.. You can use.. Its OK but it may start to flake...over time but brilliant idea..anyway I'm very jealous at least you have a big lovely dry place to do all this work.. Lucky you... I have an underground car park freezing no choice.. Anyway take people..Devon pirate Paul stuck in Jersey Channel Islands.. Hard core 👍😂

Hopefully that will work for you but I think you're right about applying two coats just to be certain 👍

I have watched several of your videos, thanks. Suppose the pop top has 1" soft weather stripping all around the lip to create a fairly water tight seal against the roof of the van when lowered & closed. And I never open the pop top when it rains. It seems that the canvas (or mosquito netting) could be velcro-ed to the inside of the pop top in overlapping sections and not permanently connected to even the roof of the van. The canvas could hang over the outer top edge of the van just a bit...more like a curtain. I am thinking vertical lift rather than clam shell lift. What do you think?

I think having removable fabric is a fantastic idea if you can make it work. I accidentally cut mine a couple times and had to patch over, so would've been good to be able to take it out to work on it. The clamshell lift is fine once it's up and much easier to do, as the lower side where the hinges are, are where my bed and sink is so doesn't cause a problem, also more fabric means more cold coming in. It does make working on the hinge side difficult as there is little space. Clamshell is probably also more stable in windy conditions.

    Is this better than Fabsil?

I havent tried it. It's cheaper and you can adjust the consistency. But fabsil is probably easier
