ECCENTRIC FOOTING DESIGN (COLUMN IS AT EDGE OF THE FOOTING)

- When there is a property line and we need to provide the column at the edge of the footing then there is a moment due to eccentricity is generated. Hence , we design these types of footing with consideration of this moment also.The steps are same as previous video of eccentric footing design.

This footing have negative footing base pressure due to BM due to eccentric footing and hence the footing will not be in contact with soil also the SBC value does satisfy

i have a question,
How come the computation of net upward soil pressure specially on moment due to eccentricity have only + sign? in which moment due to eccentricty will produce tension on the side farthest the column right?
That's why we need to choose our Area of footing ( L x B) such that , the qmax < SBC and qmin >0 , if qmin is less than 0 , then we will get tension on that side which is the condition where footing tries to lift up due to the tension, hence in any case the condition of qmax and qmin should be satisfied..
I think the dist.as lx needs to be corrected. How it is 2.85m instead of 2.6m .Plz.clarify.

Please explain Sigma Max and sigma Min... How did you choose bd^2 value?
Mex is eccentric moment, hence stress= Mex/(I/y) where I= ( bd^3/12) / (d/2), hence , finally stress due to moment. = 6 Mex/ bd^2.

Plz.verify the value of Qmax, Qmin because when one value is matching other differs.
Qmax and Qmin , depends on the formula= P/ Ast provided (+/-) M/z (+/-) Mex/z , hence accordingly values will be calculated and changes accordingly..

This type of footing should be avoided and it's not economical too, for edge columns strap footing is the good one.
Agreed , this is not as much economical, we can choose strap beam footing or combined footing for corner footing, but some cases if it's not possible to go for strap, than the shoe footing is provided..
