I've read that his mom was an opera singer, so talent plus training equaled one of the most phenomenal voices in rock history. Even after his horrible accident and having to learn to sing differently, he still can sing these songs live in his 40s/50s. Such a remarkable talent.....
True. Many of the talents in rock band in the 80s and 90s have classical background or influence at the least. This is also true in the guitar world with top notch names Edward (Eddie) Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert and so on.

Welcome to your tito’s and tita’s genre of genre of music. Back in the day we always expect have that expectation when rock bands compose ballads sure thing it’s gonna be a hit.
This guy has really been through some things too. Catastrophic stage injury in the 90s, which he had to come back from...and then ended up singing for The Doors (??!) and sounded absolutely outstanding doing that. His usable range is unreal. And even in his 60s, this guy can sing circles around me.
I had Steelheart's first two records on cassette back in the early 90s...showing my age here. Matijevic is an otherworldly singer. A terrible accident-a lighting rig fell on him-cut them short for a while.
I love watching singers like yourself, who know their instrument, and are blown away by him. he was such a great singer back then. Still is, but can't hit those high notes anymore. He is 58 now. He was injured in an on stage accident where a truss fell on him, crushing his face and causing a traumatic brain injury. It derailed his and the bands careers. he had a 3 octave + 6 semitone range.
He was seated in this performance. However, when live and standing, he would bend over backward in a position many gymnists can't reach without falling over while he was singing some of those belts you like so much. Also, I highly recommend (as commented by others) "I'll Never Let You Go" but also, "We All Die Young."
Almost the same reaction I had when I first heard them. I do prefer the acoustic version here over the full band, but others may prefer otherwise. I heard I'll Never Let You Go first then this. It's more of a build up that way. Both songs are still amazing. Great reaction.

What a wonderful Song including the lyrics. And I still like his controlled headvoice. ( the high notes - that are completely perfect, with a smooth vibrato at the end ) His voice sounds every time lovely and not nerved or intrusive. He just rereleased ‘I’ll never let you go’ with his daughter singing on it with him earlier this year, along with other things that he has done. He did have to take a break do to the lighting truss falling on him, but he has been back for a while now.
A lighting rig fell on him while performing on stage and crushed him into the stage. Sadly the accident and injuries affected his voice and he lost the ability to hit the hit the notes he could prior. At the time he had one of the most powerful voices in the industry.
You haven't heard him the last couple years I take it. He worked his voice back into shape and can pretty much hit those high notes. I think he sounds great.
Milo is a vocal beast. If you ever want to spend a couple hours being entertained by a movie I recommend Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. Milo does most of the vocals in the songs for the movie.

They used to pass out a tequila bottle when it was next to empty, (on the song sheila) well right before he handed it out her poured some into the audience, well.. it went into my eyes.. by the time I cleared my eyes out, I looked up and he was handing it out… so I barely missed it. But after the show (this was during the tangled In reigns tour) they were drinking some Corona … well I got Johns (RIP) and my Best friend got Millis and they all signed them. After that Milli said “I haven’t seen any Tequila bottles tonight.” I turned around and replied “Funny story about that brother!” 😂

They have SO many killer songs! steelheart, All your love, sticky side up, Lips of rain… Can’t stop me lovin you.. it’s one thing for him to hit the highs on a slower song and another to hit them on a heavier/faster song where it’s harder to get the breath in. But he does it flawlessly in the faster ones also. But Steelheart would be an awesome one imo.

Miljenko Matijevic is easily one of the greatest male rock singers of all time. If you wan't to hear another one of my top 10 singers check out Ronnie Radke Falling In Reverse, The Drug In Me Is Reimagined. Then Last Resort Reimagined. His voice is one in a million.
It’s unfortunate that they kinda got lost in the “hair band” shuffle. There were a lot of bands back then that were all show no go, but Steelheart and Miljenko in particular could definitely deliver.

It’s unfortunate that they kinda got lost in the “hair band” shuffle. There were a lot of bands back then that were all show no go, but Steelheart and Miljenko in particular could definitely deliver.
