Your suggestions for new cash stuffers is spot on! I began with the Every Dollar app and a spreadsheet printable for my bills and spending. That was fall of 2023. Somewhere along the way I started using a few cheap paper mailing envelopes with a few categories and kept adding as I saw the need. Then I came across these cash stuffing videos and realized there was a method to it that I didn't realize with binders and all sorts of pretty things. Even in that I started small. I watched lots of videos then bought 1 binder and then realized I needed a 2nd one and started some savings challenges. I'm still new to it all but I told my husband that every video I watch is like I'm taking a budgeting class. I glean and learn more and more every time. Thank you for being one of my inspirations and teaching me good foundations in your videos.💐 P.S. One of my next purchases on my wish list is your downloadable budget package on Etsy. I have a binder and want all the pretty colors that you have in that. I still love my printable I made at the beginning so I don't have to write every bill so a binder it is.💗
I do want to add also that every step has made me more excited to pay bills which I was having a lot of anxiety about prior to budgeting. The only frustration I have is not having more funds to stuff and when I get off track. But my husband says I am doing so amazing with our budget and the process is paying off and will pay off down the road. It's all baby steps and a few leaps and bounds. 🌿

A 2 sister Bees I'm just not starting now. I have verbal income and that is really hard to save. Can you show me a way to make it less hard and a lot easier? To save
Variable income can be saved from. Track your bills for a couple months. Save up what you need to have enough to pay those. Then what you make this month pays for those necessary payments next month. Then save as much of what is left over this month as you can... cut things like food, fun, subscriptions, as much as you can and put the savings in an account or envelope or in your sock drawer. The next month, your income pays the bills for the month after, as well as your reduced spending.
Average your income for 3 months so you know what you generally bring in, then budget below that average so you can save for months that have lower income so you can still pay necessary bills. Put any cards in ice or in a safe place you can't access easily. Use cash for everything. Watch lots and lots of Jenn's older videos... she has a playlist for beginners and for rising incomes, and talks about variable incomes too.
I have replied twice and it keeps disappearing. Watch Jenn's older videos... should be a playlist that talks about starting to budget. She also addresses variable income.

I realized that I always stuff cash for gas for my car, but always use my cc and end up depositing the $ right back the next paycheck to cover my cc bill……🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Time to get rid of the actual and just budget for it like other sinking funds using just an envelope tracker. Budget with Bella! Thank you for showing a little of your system - it helps a lot. And I liked the perspective with that Verizon bill. I hate them but sadly, we just went back to them after 6 months of Spectrum which just kept getting worse and worse. So instead of paying $99/month for terrible cell service, we are back to paying $250 for good service (I hate even saying anything good about Verizon, those crooks). So now, we are going to cut back on our cable since we mainly use streaming services anyway. That will help offset things a bit.
Budget with Bella! I bought myself one previously and loved it so well I bought one for my daughter, who loves it also. Love this wallet! Great video explaining everything. Love the See It, Want It, Save It challenge. I think if I use that, it will reign in the impulse buying. But I am a bit confused, was the money saved, not to purchase those items? Or have you already purchased and are reimbursing yourself and redirecting those funds? I just discovered the cash stuffing and budgeting community in January and I’m still figuring out envelopes, whats working and what’s not working. I laughed at your box of past envelopes! You’re right, everyone’s journey is different and life changes and there’s bumps in the road. Bottom line, keep on keeping on!

Do you think it is ok to show kids (13 & 16) the visual reminders with the budget? Torn between not involving them in adult finances and making them aware of why Mom says no a lot! A family sit down meal is easily $60 - $80!!!

Since every dollar you have gets allocated somewhere, when you or your husband spend money that isn't budgeted for, where does it come from before you send it back to the bank? Do you have money sitting in your checking account to use that you can then replenish with money from the envelopes, or do you put it on a credit card? I really want a binder or wallet with envelopes but every time I look to buy one i chicken out. I have been getting challenges but I get carried away because they are all so awesome so I’m having to stop going crazy with spending for them. I am making progress with saving a little at a time. I wish I could have a 0 based budget. Our finances are too unpredictable, and my husband has his own stuff elsewhere as well. We have stuff together and separate savings that we talk about once a month where we are at. He also has shares.

It’s funny how even after doing it for 2 years, I continue to look at money differently.
When $1k is in the bank, it just doesn’t have the same feeling as when I was planning how much actual cash I was going to stuff each week. It’s very interesting.
