      I think it's just... It's satisfying to see harm reduction. Relief, given to an innocent animal that doesn't deserve the pain it's in. A vulnerable creature that can't understand why it's hurting, given relief from that pain.
      The team can't fix everything. But knowing that all of this leads to a happier cow, and responsible owners taking the cow to a professional who can do good work saving them, is helpful. It's also amazing how gentle and tender he is with these animals, even the aggressive bulls who are annoying to cure.

    That inner hoof capsule was different-looking than most of the ones in your videos. Usually they are sort of ragged-red and slightly bleeding, but this time it seemed to have a white coating under the pus. Why is that? Was the infection just caught earlier or is it because the horn was already fully separated and didn't need to be cut away?

    • @meganbarber3599
      @meganbarber3599 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Thick white pus means the infection's been going on for a long time. And if the horn is separated it needs to be cut away. Why it looked different, I don't know. I noticed that too.

    • @bobbobert9379
      @bobbobert9379 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your care for these precious cows is remarkable. The knowledge of the hoof outside and inside clues me how much training and experience have come your way. In many ways experience gives you the direction to take. I love learning and your platform has filled an empty space in my brain. If I am not sure of the point you're making, I will rewind for a second go.
    I am a southern American so your dialect is different yet so interesting for it has a pitch that swings up and flows down depending on your excitement level or the tone when you're teaching an important part. As for your voice it's lyrical, nonstandard, and I bet the cows find it soothing.

    Coming from being an equine hoof care provider of over 16 years, I am glad to see the good work you do to help these cows. I have too dealt with abscesses, infections, hoof rot, injuries etc. What I am curious about is why aren't more preventative measures considered by the farmers who own them? Im sure just like in horses these are mainly cause by poor/dirty environments which lead to these infections/hoof rot. It seems very rampant in these dairy cows and I see that they usually live and walk in their own filth on a regular basis, along with unnatural concrete environments. Don't get me wrong, I think your work is awesome doing what you can to treat the problems when they come up! But just seems like nobody is addressing the root cause here, and I don't understand why.

      Se gli animali fossero allo stato brado e non chiusi in stalle senza che possono muoversi e camminare sull'erba e sulla terra, non sorgerebbero questi problemi. Mio padre aveva le vacche, ma, i suoi animali non hanno mai avuto questi problemi. Liberi di fare quello che vogliono. Gli allevamenti intensivi sono dei lager per quei poveri animali

    Weird question! We live across from a beautiful rural dairy farm in upstate NY.. I have never heard or seen a Hoof Dr/Vet visiting... Do you just take more care of the heard or is it the rural farmland here that does not present these serious issues. You are terrific. Wish my podiatrist was as good and thoughtful ❤❤❤❤

    These videos have helped me stop looking at my ingrown toenails as big problems. Could be much worse. They don't leak mayonnaise when I press on them.

    I think this is the first time I've seen solid gunk come out of a hoof like this in one of your videos. Wow!

    Oh man. The pus that came out was crazy. She had to feel better after all that. You always take time to explain what you're doing. And why. The videos fascinate me. I don't live on a farm or own cattle. Keep up the good work. Thank you for being so diligent and so caring. 😊

    Came upon this site by chance but I got addicted fairly quickly, great to see the farm animals getting care for what looks like very painful sores and puss. But I would think the surrounding part of the hoof and leg would get sterilised so as to have a clean surrounding. But other than that you do great work that most people wouldn’t even know about and you are greatly unappreciated. Thanks for the laughs too 😁

    I think in cases like these you should use a pressureized drainage - make two entrances, insert a tube into one, open the valve and pressure-wash the entire abscess, pushing pus outside. Pressure pumps are fairly common. I think it would be effective.
