Nice work, looking forward to some more of these. I've got two ideas for the name of this podcast. Beyond the Box - Suggests taking a look inside the process, beyond just the game itself and Game Plan - Reflects the strategies, planning, and insights needed to bring a board game from idea to reality.
Love this chat. Great to have differing voices and different perspectives (especially as a fledgling designer mysefl). Can't wait for the next episode!
I really enjoyed your insight! Great podcast! As a designer that has pitched to Joe, he is a wealth of industry knowledge and it’s nice to see the inside scoop on how the decisions for the games journey come about. I look forward to learning more about Nicks process as well. Perhaps I will see both you guys at PAXU in a few weeks!
For the podcast name I like playing on a Comercial term and applying it to board games. You guys used the word 'vision' several times this episode... how about "Vision to Table" ... playing on Farm to Table. Which is really what you seem to be talking about. How you get your vision from your mind to my Table.
I like the idea of "Board Game Blueprints" (or BGB for short) 'Blueprints' indicates behind the scenes 'Board Game' points to the target market (and makes for easier searching of new podcasts etc)
How about ‘On the table’ or ‘To the table?’ The first is a play on cards on the table, since you’re honestly sharing, the second is a play on farm to table, discussing the whole process to actually getting a game ready for play.
Another name idea, how about “Open up the box,” to play on opening up about industry detail and also looking at details and components in the end product! It’s also got a dentist angle with the open up part ;)
Could be more removed from Board Games specifically, like "TableTopics". Should the cast outlast the Vision to Product journey, then the name covers any other areas you may shift into. Or "The Game Components", covers what goes into the game, what it's made up of, and you also get to call yourselves The Game Components.
For the Pod name, "The Bits and Pieces" has a nice ring to it.
This is awesome!

Nice work!
Excited to see where this leads. Thank you for being so active in the design community and sharing your knowledge 👏
What about “inside the box”? Since you will be discussing the ins and outs of publishing, game designs, and other insights.

and the above is most certainly Reiner Knizia approved!
For a name, how about “Thinking Inside the Box” (as opposed to the cliche of thinking outside the box)?
