“A walking ghost instead of me” that’s how depression makes me feel everyday. It’s a constant struggle. But I’m grateful this band is here to help me with their music. Congrats on the new album boys 🖤
What does the line mean? That he wishes he was that ghost?
Pro x Reckless Personally, I think it means that depression makes you feel so lethargic and tired that you become like a ghost, almost dead inside. That’s why he says he’s a walking ghost (at least that’s how I interpret it)

"Chasing Ghosts" - The guy hanged himself but was probably saved or saved himself
"Let The Ocean Take Me" - We see him on a cliff
"This Could Be Heartbreak" - We see his coffin
"Misery" - Was probably a memory of him (I'm guessing at that)
"Everyone Loves You... Once You Leave Them" - We see that he is now a ghost

Severed Ties - Tried to party all the pain away and ended in overdose
Youngbloods - Survived, spent much time in hospital and started hating his life ever so more, finally (Fuck the Yankees) said 'Fuck it' and desired to end it altogether
Chasing Ghosts - Attempted to end it, but couldn't do it, because he felt guilty as everyone supported him, but this stresses him out even more
In LTOTM he tried to endure it, got consumed by alcoholism and killed off his feelings and finally, with 'Farewell' he ended it. (FunFact: This was the first point when Amity said, they're thinking of moving on from lyrics about depression and anxiety)
This Could Be Heartbreak is a sort of obituary. The scene at the end of the song 'This Could Be Heartbreak', when his hand stuck out of the ground, it was a message, as to say 'he might be dead, but still is among us'.
Misery is a look on his life and the 'Misery' he went through.
And now, it either shows his life during the time he killed off his feelings ('All My Friends Are Dead' is a common quote people use in this situation; these people also often suffer from catatonia due to too much stress or anxiety; all his views in this record are nihilistic, etc), or his ghost still walks around and still can't accept it all.
If the records really are conceptual, it is an overarching story of a poor individual, who can't handle the emotional stress of succumbing to depression.
They may not be chronological, but every entry is a step inside the vicious cycle that are mental illnesses.
Wow dude this really makes me think, also Joel had his best friend take his own life, not sure if the story is about him but it could be...

Brian Proctor I met Joel at warped tour 2018 for a Q and A session and obviously mental problems and substance problems came up and he was one of the first people to tell me that it’s ok to get help and seek the help that I need. And thankfully today I am 1 year 2 months sober

This album is the worst of all, we advance towards pop music, in which we find no depth of spirit. The measures are predictable, the structure of the music is very badly imagined. It has nothing to do with "youngbloods", or the old albums. Huge disappointment, I hope that the next album will be more expert, more metal, I hope that we will find choirs, and well-imagined melodies. This album there, is an album for teenagers, except that there are no more teenagers who listen to metal. Question yourself.
