Honestly, I think the slightly less heavy sound of this album really allowed the lyrics to stand out even more. Plus Joel got to sing on a few songs
I feel so much more of Joel's emotions in this album, truly depressing what this guy has to go through

I told my therapist today about how Joel is such a role model to me and how much I look up to him with battling my PTSD. I gave him a few powerful lyrics and he said "He sounds like a very smart man"! To have the reinforced really made my day. I love you Joel and you have never written one bad lyric🖤

My uncle died from ALS several years ago and I miss him dearly.😥 When I was introduced to this song by a friend of mine, I absolutely fell in love with it.😊❤ The whole thing, especially the excerpt from Lou Gherings speech and the guitar solo. I listened to that solo over and over and over again. So incredibly beautiful.😊❤
Every time I hear this song, I think my friend , my brother , my fellow Marine infantryman. We served 19 years together basically side by side. Iraq ,afghan and stateside. Cory took his own life in 2022. Brother I love you so much. One day we will see each other again.

David Kocheruk - A friend of the band and many others in the Australian heavy music scene. I think he sang in a few bands years ago as well? Not too sure. He passed away recently from suicide.

I've been listening to this song for years, and I've been wondering why the title is "The Gifthorse."
Then I recently realized that the lyrics of this song are about a person who wants to die after a loved one who is already gone.
So it's the story of a someone who doesn't want to look into the mouth of "The Gifthorse", the voice of a loved one telling "come here and let's fine peace together" from the other side. he don't want to think about the darkness hidden in its true meaning because it's so sweet and precious.
TAA's songs are really beautiful, sad, and raw.

Shane Collins, the absolute legend. 😭
I got to know Shane through my brother. An absolute legend of a human being and a big teddy bear. It's true that he lit the room up around him. The times I got to speak with him or have a drink he'd always genuinely want to know how you are and what's the latest small talk etc. He'd always make you feel a part of that local music community. Will miss him and his solo acoustic nights at Crowbar-Bris. I feel bad for his family and friends, especially my brother.
Seen them live on "Misery tour" this past January. Amazing!!
This song hits so hard now...6 months ago a dear friend of mine was hit and killed by a car out on I93 after getting out while intoxicated....dealing with emotional problems and wound up making a suicidal decision... honestly starting to wish for deaths hand to strike me down....I can't be healed...

I really love this album. I'm a big fan of Amity like they have become my favorite band. I think Chasing Ghosts is my favorite still but this is right up there. I love that they tried something different but still used part of their style that makes them amity. Old with new is what I think. I'm really impressed with this and loving it so much. I agree with D.I.E. that it is repetative and Black Cloud is the least good on the album but otherwise I really love this album.
