    Im sorry for your loss, losing loved ones is one of the hardest things in life. No one can tell you what to do with the tank, although when I lost my father, it was something I continued with and was a good way to occupy the mind. Goodluck with all that you do.

    Hey modern reefer, I can relate buddy. Keep yourself happy and healthy. Your dad would have wanted that for you. He's up there enjoying dim sum and tea with his buddies and relatives.

    Sorry for your loss. I mean looks like you have a lot of live coral and fish looks like the ecosystem is still functioning pretty well. Maybe it is not as neat and tidy as it was before but I think it still looks cool

      It was loaded with SPS. The SPS are now dead and covered with vermetid snails and Coraline algae.

      @@ModernReeferah, is that Montipora capricornis in the back still alive? I thought I saw another orange montipora with polyps out as well. Either way I think it’s not worth giving up on it’s still a nice tank with potential even what you have currently is still cool not a large percentage of the public can say they have a coral reef in their house

    Sorry to hear about your father. I hope you continue with your tank. I visited you once before and you were super generous, and my tank isn’t the best but let me know, I would definitely contribute if you need a few acros.

    I am very sorry to hear about your father. And I am also very sorry to see your wrasse, heartbreaking really when there is nothing that can be done. IF this hobby can still bring you joy, then persist. If it does not, then there is nothing wrong with leaving the hobby for a while. Do whatever makes you happy and look after yourself.

    Sorry for your loss. I also took care of both of my parents. Thought it was gonna be a few years but it lasted almost twenty. Hardest thing ever but wouldn't change a thing. 🙏
    I hope you can get that wrasse in a setup where he can live out the rest of his life without being bullied. Beautiful fish. 🙏
    Looking forward to your updates. 🙏

    i just bought a used 135 gallon tank, seems he had the same problem with the vermetid snails, from the looks of it it was an infestaion.
    they were all over the sump too, all dead when i got it.
    he gave me all the rocks, i asked what they were he said they were clove polyps
    he had to know it was vermetid snails , he probably didnt want to tell me idk
    i have clove coral and i had to google what it was, now im going to remove all the rock.
    should i leave the sand ? seems they dont attach to it

    Sorry to hear and see your loss. Any idea on what would have caused this decal of the tank so rapidly?

    • @ModernReefer
      @ModernReefer  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Mainly neglect of the calcium reactor, low on nutrients. two big swings with the alk.

    You're fooling yourself if you get into the reefing hobby w/o acknowledging throwing your money away is in fact a good deal of the hobby. It doesn't matter how advanced you are or how much automation you use, your tank will crash and you will lose a great deal of inhabitants, and it will happen more than once.

    • @ModernReefer
      @ModernReefer  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agreed. It’s happened a few times over the 25 years of reefing.

    • @Desmo1
      @Desmo1 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@ModernReefer Same, and I don't know a single person in the hobby that it hasn't happened to multiple times also. Here's the best way to go about reefing...BUY SOFTIES and pretty much only softies. They'll give you the best chance to keep your money in the tank. The more complicated your system, the less likely you are to keep up with it. As far as QT goes, it's just another money pit. Your fish will get sick no matter if QT'd or not. Buy cheap fish so it equates to less loss.
