It's so awesome to see these guitars from brands and manufacturers that are lesser known, there will always be something so new and exciting! Awesome work!
What ever happened to tradition? It must be my age at 63? The freakiest guitar I own is the Epiphone Lee Malia RD and that is mild by today's standards!
@@leonardszubinski4709 Nothing happened to tradition. There's so many strats, teles and Les Paul-style guitars being manufactured by loads of different manufacturers that it's impossible to keep track on. A few companies like Lava producing wacky designs are not going to change that
I really appreciate the attention you bring to smaller brands! Love the video man. Since I’m already here, I also really appreciate you’re overall positive attitude you have in every video!!!
Not entirely sold on the body shape, I don't mind the color, but by gosh that TONE! Wow, did that sound fantastic. Low gain, high gain, split, clean, that guitar does it all, in spades! Really like how you feature some of these unique, some might say boutique guitar builds from small shops. I would never have seen/heard this without your site, it's not like it's going to be hanging on the wall at the local guitar center! Great video, thanks for the feature, just another to add to the ever-expanding list of dream guitars that I would purchase if I hit the PowerBall lottery! Thanks, Darrell!
Oh, the clean! That’s always my test ... you can dirty up clean, but you can’t clean up dirty. And Darrell, these are my favorite videos you put out - the small “boutique” luthiers ... thanks so much for such great content.
SOFA King agreed, I love DB’s channel and reviews, but I would ask that new balance the amount of dirt with more clean tone exploration, and rhythm playing... esp. with a variety of chords including jazz chords... DB is a fine player, he can do it!
Looks more like a fashion statement than something designed for playabillity. The body starting to widen at the 15th fret is a rather impractical choice.
I like your fairness and eager to try something new and give opportunity to new comers. I enjoy all of your videos, fair and objective. And above all is you skill. Cheers from Indonesia!
@ rascalk1ng Mark Farner played a Parker Fly, as did the guitarist for the country group Alabama. I passed on the headstock shape. Somehow I figured no to the Asthetics and that someone, somewhere, somehow would break the headstock off. Then I would just modify the axe into a headless axe model . On he LAVA guitar, I'd like to have the kickstand on the bottom of the guitar to put on my Gibson Flying V ! ! ! 👍🤘🎸😎 DDH 8-19-2020.
It's good to see a new guitar that doesn't look like 90% of everybody else's guitars. Nice tones too and you can never have too much sustain. However, the eye-watering price means it's not for most of us though maybe one day they'll be available from our friends in the Far East.
Holy cow, Darrell! I did NOT expect that to sound so amazing. Here's a luthier you may not have heard of: Veillette Guitars out of Woodstock, New York. Handmade acoustic to electric, bass, double necks, and 12-strings.
For me it sound sweet as like as a fender strat with the best mid action set up.. But has a better sustain and more brighter sound in it's humbucker bridge pick up which make the crunch or distortion sound more better (in my opinion).. Thanks to this nice guy, we guitarist can find good informations.
If this guitar was released by Fender it would be a major flop, Fender and Gibson clients want the same old guitar untouched, history proves it Gibson purists don’t even like the neck angle decreased to fix the breaking problem Lol Any major guitar maker can make a guitar like this, is not rocket science
Very reminiscent of the Gibson Moderne (prototype circa 1957) so not sure about the design being avant-garde. But this Lava-Drop seems more practical for playing with better lines and sounds totally amazing!
mmm... Oddly shaped yet very elegant, exquisitely clean, very versatile, reliable, and a feisty beast when needed... And Lithuanian! She's the Sabonis of guitars!
I usually just shoot past the distorted stuff I'm afraid - but the sounds of that guitar are beautiful, distorted, or not. Not often impressed guitar tones, but I genuinely loved the sound of this guitar.
Awesome guitar and would be nice to see more builder's take some chances. You got a chance to channel your inner Buckethead with that kill switch, lol.
I looked at the Lava Drop website and while most of their offerings aren’t this extreme, they are all very unique which is nice when most other companies sell T-style, S-style and LP style guitars and then maybe have one oddball unique guitar. Very interesting brand.
OH GOD, you gotta contact them to request a price. Dare I discover just how much these things go for? Loved the overdriven tones you were getting on this one. Killer!!
Interesting shape. Just checked out the website and it says request price. I remember I was told once if you have to ask the price you can’t afford it!
Love the content. Just curious why I've never seen you feature any Godin guitars on your channel. I mean Canada man. I just got one this week and love it. Mine is an LG. Again love it.
So much to pick through about the Drop X...first things first, the shape and colour combo screams 1980’s to me (someone playing lead on the Drop X back to back with the keytarist rockin the synth sounds). And while it may not be a body style that I would be drawn to, there was a “wow-factor” when you opened the case. All-in-all, this is a pretty swank guitar and I appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship.
Would you rock something like this?
Enjoy :)
Yes for as long as I can
Darrell Braun Guitar I like traditional shapes like a les Paul or strat

Darrell Braun Guitar Black finish for me , sounds great 👍🇬🇧
I want on, NOW... too bad I'm broke
Hey, that's a number 1 on the back plate.
They literally gave you the first model they made out of this. 🥺
At least in this color. It's probably not the most popular option for any guitar, so they probably sold at least a few others before
Looks like a guitar Prince would have played.
Lmof i didn't even read the comments and i comment exactly the same
Or Bill and Ted
I was thinking the same thing just imagine this is purple lol
As I was scrolling down to comment, yeah I got beat. Yeah that thing screams Prince, even the color.
A guitar that Prince would play and could _afford_ ...😁

If this would have be introduced in the late 70s or early 80s I bet Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill would have a matching guitar and bass of this
Austin Peek and they would be covered in “coral” fun fur....
Darrel, I am ordering a lefty custom from Sahana guitars in Nepal. You should reach out to them for a demo. The sound of the Himalayas
Yessss sahana guitars are so well made
Heck yes
Sz Ki China and India are literally at war, I don’t think that India would be getting parts from China.
Sz Ki India literally outlawed any transport to or from China, they even banned Chinese apps. Trust me no money is going through.
Sz Ki you’d be surprised at how good some import guitars are. Look at Ibanez for example, made in Japan, great guitars.
looks like it should have been in Bill n Teds excellent adventure
Be excellent to each other...
And party on dudes!!!
Hopefully it will be in the re-make haha
Darrell should be in it too. Taking over for Keanu.
I Plead Guilty exactly it can still be in the sequel(thank god it’s not a remake) someone should write the studio a letter
Speaking about bill and Ted the new movie just came out today
such an awesome 80's design
The design of the body is actually really cool. Do more of these kinds of guitars Darrell
Love how you promote the little guys and gals. This particular guitar looks and sounds especially special. Gonna go look 'em up right now!

I play with those guitars from the beginning when their came to the music world. This lithuanian guitar builder is crazy as hell! Rock n' Roll \m/
Bringing the 80's back one guitar at a time.
That’s not a guitar...
*Thats a hockey stick*
*And I love it*

It is not an Explorer xd
now that you mention it a goalie stick you must be Canadian lol
You should check out Samuraiguitarist if you want to see an actual hockey stick made into a guitar, if you haven't already
That aluminium strip really ties it all together.
It's also handy if someone jumps on stage and you have to ring their bell.

Yes, that surprised me, too! Especially since it's a neck-through-body construction!
Anything passed the 15th fret seems unplayable, unless you're a trained classical musician...

Coral has less yellow in it and less saturated

Amazing design, so cool it plays well too.

Sound so cool
Split-coil and humbuckers always sound closer in volume when you use gain. It would be good to hear them compared with high headroom clean sounds.
That sustain is truly insane
